Abstract

The objective of the study is to determine the main behavior affecting the adoption of halal food logistics (HFL) services among the SMEs - food and beverages manufacturers in Malaysia. Presently, the demand for halal products by Muslim consumers has increased exponentially as well as the concerned on the transportation services status. Thus, the existing of the HFL is designed especially to meet the demand from halal manufacturers to maintain the integrity of their halal products along the supply chain. Unfortunately, the demand of these services among the SMEs are moderately small. Based on TPB model, the study utilize survey questionnaires to obtain data from 596 respondents from listed database. The useful questionnaires which are 128 responses were analyzed by SPSS and the Smart SEM-PLS. From the analysis, subjective norms were found to have a significant relationship with an intention to adopt the HFL services but variables of attitude and perceived behavior control are not significant. The results has provided an understandings on the behavioural among these SMEs to adopt HFL services in Malaysia. In this context, the HFL services can be a part of a business strategies in protecting the halal integrity either from perspective of manufacturers, logistics providers towards the consumers’ needs. The implication, limitation and suggestion for the future study are also be discussed in the conclusion paragraph.

Abstract

The objective of the study is to examine the influence of religiosity leadership’s practices among the top management people of halal food and beverages SMEs towards their business performance. Previous studies have shown that religiosity practices among the leaders or top management people in the enterprises has contributed a significant impact to the business performance. Some results show these people, which influenced by religiosity has motivated their colleagues and workers to perform job very well that contribute to improve business performance. This study applied a quantitative design with a simple random sampling and survey questionnaire were distributed to 370 respondents by emails. The obtained data were analyzed by Smart-PLS. The findings of the study have a different result as it was hypothesized. The results of this study show that the characteristics of religiosity practiced by SMEs in Malaysia has been insignificantly affected the SMEs’ business performance. This indicates that religiosity practices among the top management people are not a driver or a factor that can be relied on to improve their business performance either from financial or non-financial aspects. Perhaps the future study can collaborate with other variables such as entrepreneurial orientation (EO). Thus, it might give a different result since the (EO) is a significant factor to increase the SMEs’ business performance.

Abstract

The great influence of consumers' consumption of halal products, mainly food and beverages (FB) have raised new challenges for all manufacturing organisations, specifically the small and medium enterprises. Largely in Malaysia, FB industries are dominated by this scale of enterprises. However, in terms of the halal products manufactured are not produced by those enterprises, but made by large and multinational enterprises. Presently, there is an enormous competition among those enterprises to produce halal products on a large scale all along the supply-chain networks. On the other hand, most of them are stuck to getting halal certificates from the official authority; JAKIM. Besides that, other challenges faced by SMEs that they are deficient of leadership styles, lack of entrepreneurial orientation and inconsistent performance to grasp opportunities existing in the halal markets. Based on previous literatures, these challenges contributed a significant research gap in terms of leaderships in management practice towards the organisation performance. Therefore, this study has constructed a conceptual model based on the leadership theories in which they have a significant impact on an organisation's performance. This paper presents a proposal of a theoretical framework in order to examine the relationship of leadership styles, mainly the spirituality towards the organisation performance which moderates by Shariah based entrepreneurial orientation. All measurements applied in the study are based from the past research. However, some of them are modified suited to the studys objectives. Abstract

The objective of the study is to investigate the role of religiosity leaderships style among the top management of halal food and beverages products small and medium sizes manufacturers towards their business performance. Presently, leadership style is one of crucial elements for leaders or managers in the organization to provide business directions, implement strategic plans and motivate employees. Nowadays the importance of leadership not only be influenced by participative, transformational or laissez-faire but the guidance from the religiosity also be equally significant. Usually, leadership practices are influenced by individuals religious liaison and religiosity practices. In this study, it was intended to fill a gap where a few studies have been done so far on religiosity leadership at SMEs but not particularly in the manufacturing of halal FB products. Thus, the study proposes a theoretical framework in order to examine the effect of religiosity leaderships style towards the SMEs business performance which moderated by halal entrepreneurial orientation. A quantitative design with a simple random sampling and establishment by emails (online survey questionnaires) will be distributed to 370 SMEs in Malaysia. The data were analyzed by SPSS and Smart SEM-PLS. The finding of the study will indicate that the religiosity leaderships have mixed results. In this context, religiosity leaderships make a significant contribution to SMEs'in a way of increasing business performance at a certain market segmentation.

Abstract

This is a conceptual paper on the contributing factors of the performance of the new Islamic supply chain model in Malaysia. There are several contributors toward the model that has been reviewed. They are:- 1) Halal Traceability and Tracking Activity, 2) Halal Certification and Labelling Process, 3) Halal Facilities Segregation and 4). Halal Food Quality Management. All these contributors will be considered in developing new Islamic supply chain management model in Malaysia using robust econometric regression.
