Perceptions of people living with HIV and AIDS (PLHIV) about antiretroviral treatment (ART) is crucial for improving adherence. This study aims to examine the dynamics of perceptions during the early phase of ART. A longitudinal study involving newly diagnosed PLHIV was conducted. Interviews were carried out at the time of HIV diagnosis and at three months after ART initiation. Data were analyzed by comparing proportion of good perception across the continuum of HIV diagnosis, ART initiation and threemonths follow-up, and were tested using Chi-square. From 170 PLHIV participated in the study, 81.76% had initiated ART and 73.4% remained on ART at three-months of follow-up. Several positive perception items were significantly decreased: ability to take ART at work and ability to continue treatment if experiencing side effects, effectiveness of ART, confidentiality, unwanted disclosure, and level of support from outreach workers. Ability to follow instruction from physician was significantly increased, and negative attitudes toward ART were decreased across the continuum. Adherence to ART is a continuous process, and is influenced by the dynamics perceptions among PLHIV. Understanding these dynamics is crucial to formulate strategies that can promote and maintain positive attitudes toward ART as well as living with HIV more broadly.

The COVID-19 pandemic has catalysed the transformation of health care provision across the globe, including Indonesia. However, adopting and implementing e-health technologies in health care system has to be done gradually with careful planning and assessment to minimise negative consequences and to ensure equity. Strategies are required to address availability of basic infrastructure, broadband internet access, health system preparedness and acceptability from the community and health professionals. Promoting e-health also means transforming the overall landscape of health systems and the societal culture around health-seeking behaviour. It will not happen overnight, it takes time and substantial investment; but the process has to start now to leverage the ‘magic’ momentum presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus which is in the category of lentivirus (a subgroup of retrovirus) that causes HIV infection and can lead to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). HIV affects specific cells of the immune system, called CD4 cells, or T cells. Over time, if left untreated, HIV can destroy so many of these cells that the body would not be able to fight off infections and disease. However, with proper medical care, HIV can be controlled. Treatment for HIV is called antiretroviral therapy (ART). It involves taking a combination of HIV medicines (called an HIV regimen) every day. Today, a person who diagnosed with HIV before the disease is far advanced and who gets and stays on ART can live a nearly normal lifespan.Aim: This study aims to investigate and analyze the predictors that influence WHO staging of homosexual MSM HIV patients treated at the BMC hospital in Bali. Indonesia, and to determine the factors that lead to differences in the WHO staging in MSM patients with HIV.Method: This study used a retrospective cohort method using secondary data from BMC Hospital. The sample population for this research is MSM HIV patients treated at the BMC hospital in Bali. Using the total sampling method yielded 271 samples.Result and Conclusion: the HIV incidence is a serious matter in Indonesia. One of the underlying factors for the delayed diagnosis of HIV is the lack of knowledge about the improved prognosis of early ARV treatment and a fear of being stigmatized by the community. Increased availability of HIV testing at hospitals, combined with enhanced knowledge of the prognosis of HIV treatment among crucial affected population, and the community at large and may improve earlier testing.
