Abstract

As an archipelagic country with a dense population, Indonesia develops a huge gap in development of economic, social etc in the urban and rural area. One of the disparity is in providing electricity. This study aims to analyze the effect of village funds on village electrification in Indonesia.  The study examines the correlation between village funds for the provision of infrastructure and the acceleration of village electrification with the method of quantitative descriptive approach with a panel data regression method with a fixed effect model. The result of the study shows that village funds are positively correlated with village electrification in Indonesia. It says that every 1% increase in village funds is completely correlated with a 0.98% increase in village electrification ratio. Other results show that the influence of village funds on increasing electrification is seen to be higher in villages outside Java and the coastal region. Although village funds are not intended directly to increase village electrification in Indonesia, the study concludes that village funds can be a catalyst for increasing electrification ratios in areas with basic infrastructure needs.

Abstract

While the operation of industrial areas has positively contributed to local economic growth on Sumatra Island, it has also resulted in negative environmental and health impacts. These externalities have prompted government intervention to address the adverse effects. Previous research indicates the need for alternative methods to quantify the side effects of industrial operations. This study, using Podes data and the Two-Way Fixed Effect (TWFE) model, estimates the impact of industrial activities on local health, specifically examining the incidence of diarrheal outbreaks as a proxy indicator at the village level. The analysis finds that industrial activities are positively correlated with a 4.16% increase in the incidence of diarrheal outbreaks in villages located within a 0 to 10 km radius of industrial areas, with statistical significance at the 1% level.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of government intervention in asset management systems on the performance of state-owned assets. Using Asset Life Cycle Management (ALCM) indicators and binary logistic regression, the findings reveal that three key aspects of ALCM—strategy and planning, acquisition, and operation and maintenance—significantly influence asset performance. The impact of ALCM policies varies by asset location, categorized into five major regions: Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Bali-Nusa Tenggara, and Papua. These results provide empirical evidence that effective asset management policies positively contribute to optimizing the performance of state assets.

Abstract

Indonesia has the largest coral population in the world, contributed as the world’s second largest ornamental corals exporter after Japan. Coral trade sparked the issues of habitat destruction, illegal trade, and coral health problems has prompted the government to banning of ornamental coral export. This study aims to find an empirical evidence does the policies mentioned above affect the condition of coral reefs in Indonesia. The author uses the Fixed-Effect Model on the Difference in Difference regression equation whose result show that export banning of ornamental corals does not significantly affect the condition of coral reefs in Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstract

The study of economic agglomeration is again a concern in the urban economic literature, especially in describing urban areas and better econometric approaches. This study improves the size of cities to become urban and suburban, reflecting the flow of commuting, using the 2010 and 2015 Landscan data to measure economic density better and reduce bias due to measurement errors. Empirically, using this density and using the 2SLS estimation technique with instrument variables in the form of earthquake risk and ruggedness measures, the result of a city twice as large can increase wages 61 percent. This result is higher than most other literature because the sample only covers urban areas. This study also shows that workers with characteristics such as higher education, the formal sector, the service sector, and white collar jobs get more enormous benefits in urban areas.JEL Classification: J24, J31, O18How to Cite:Sari, M. Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Infrastructure development is one of the driving wheels of economic that have potential to drive increased production, create jobs and reduce the number of poor people. One of the government's focus on infrastructure is the construction of the Trans Java Toll Road that connects the entire Java Island from Jakarta to Surabaya. The purpose of this research is to analyze the impact of the operation of the Trans Java Toll Road which began in part since 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019 on the Regency/Municipality economy, especially those passed by toll roads. The indicators of regional economy in this research are GRDP per capita, open unemployment rate, dan poverty rate. The research method used is Difference in Difference (DiD) in the form of Staggered Adoption Design (SAD) using 84 regency/municipality data spread across 6 provinces in Java Island from 2012-2919. Estimation results show that the operation of the Trans Java Toll Road has not yet had a stable impact on increasing GRDP per capita, decreasing unemployment rate and reducing poverty rate. The insignificance of the influence of the Trans Java Toll Road is suspected because the analysis is still conducted in the medium term, where generally the influence of the new toll road is seen in the long term.

Abstract

The implementation of decentralization should have a positive impact on regional progress. Since its implementation in 2001, decentralization in Indonesia has become deeper and wider. Using the slum settlement policy as a study approach, this study will examine the impact of decentralization and how persistent these impacts are. The estimation results using RD-DiD shows that the implementation of decentralization has a negative correlation with the arrangement of slums in the Jabodetabek area. The area of slums is 45% greater than the year before decentralization or a non-decentralized area. Thus, in the aspect of structuring the slums, it can be concluded that decentralization does not work effectively and even tends to make things worse.
