Abstract

This research aims to analyze the use of SIMON TKBM, identify obstacles in its implementation, and evaluate its impact on the efficiency of loading and unloading activities at Tanjung Perak Port. A quantitative approach was used involving a population consisting of 1480 loading and unloading workers (TKBM) at the port. The research sample was calculated using the Slovin formula with a margin of error of 10%, resulting in a total of 90 representative respondents. Data was collected through a questionnaire with 17 statements and then analyzed using validity, reliability and multiple linear regression tests to identify the relationship between the use of SIMON TKBM, implementation obstacles and its impact on loading and unloading efficiency. Referring to the validity and reliability test results, it shows that all questionnaire items are valid and reliable (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.893). Multiple linear regression analysis shows that the System (X1) and User (X2) variables have a positive effect on Interaction (Y), with the largest contribution coming from the user factor (coefficient = 0.301; significance = 0.003). Meanwhile, the System variable has a low and insignificant influence (coefficient = 0.090; significance = 0.395), which indicates the existence of technical problems in the system. The multiple correlation coefficient value of 0.519 indicates a moderate relationship between the three variables. These findings conclude that the implementation of SIMON TKBM is quite effective in supporting loading and unloading activities, especially with active user support, although technical improvements and identification of other external factors that influence system effectiveness are still needed.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of service quality on user satisfaction in the process of Business Activity Notification (PMKU) at the KSOP Class III Talang Duku Office. The research is motivated by several on-site challenges, including users’ lack of understanding in completing documents, repeated submissions, system technical issues, and low awareness among companies regarding licensing obligations. This research employed a quantitative approach with data collected through questionnaires and direct observation during the Land Practice (PRADA) program. Based on the results of simple linear regression analysis, a regression coefficient of 0.175 was obtained with a significance value of 0.003, indicating a positive and significant influence of service quality on user satisfaction. The R Square value of 0.133 shows that 13.3% of the variation in user satisfaction can be explained by service quality, while the remaining 86.7% is influenced by other factors outside the model. The t-test results confirm that service quality has a partial effect on user satisfaction, and classical assumption tests indicate that the regression model meets the requirements of normality, linearity, and homoscedasticity. Based on these findings, it is recommended that service quality be improved through user education, the digitalization of technical guidelines, the optimization of the Inaportnet system, and the implementation of an early warning system, in order to make PMKU services more effective, efficient, and in line with user expectations.

Abstract

The Indonesian maritime sector is highly dependent on main engine performance, where lubricant oil (LO) cooler temperature affects exhaust gas stability. This study analyzes the causal relationship between LO cooler temperature (X) and main engine exhaust gas (Y) on MV Logindo Overcomer. Using a quantitative causal-comparative approach, data were collected from 10 purposively selected engine room crew members during 12 months of Sailing Practice through Likert scale questionnaires, observations, and engine logbooks. SPSS v.27 analysis showed descriptive statistics (X: mean=52.50; Y: mean=37.70), highly valid/reliable instruments (Cronbach's α >0.90), regression equation Y=8.423+0.558X, coefficient of determination 71.6%, and Spearman correlation r=0.894 (p=0.000). The results prove a very strong influence of LO cooler temperature on exhaust gas stability. The conclusion recommends regular cleaning of the LO cooler, replacement of accurate thermometers, real-time monitoring, and crew training to prevent combustion inefficiency and overheating, similar to the case of KM Pratiwi Raya

Abstract

Shoaling of navigation channels due to sedimentation increases safety risks and hampers economic activity. This issue is evident in the Kali Perak navigation channel, where accelerated deposition in recent years has not been addressed through routine dredging, affecting shipyard operations along the waterway. This study assesses the impact of sedimentation on shipyard operations. A quantitative approach using SPSS was employed; respondents were employees of PT Dumas Tanjung Perak Shipyard and Galangan Pelni Surya. Simple linear regression yielded the model Y = 5.943 + 1.112X, indicating a positive and statistically significant effect of sedimentation (X) on operational impacts/costs (Y). Empirically, the impacts include fewer and smaller vessels able to transit, increased operational costs, and delays while waiting for high-tide windows. These findings underscore the urgency of periodic maintenance dredging and channel management to sustain shipyard operations and navigational safety in Kali Perak.

Abstract

The hatch cover is a critical structural component of a general cargo vessel, designed to safeguard cargo from seawater ingress and maintain watertight integrity. This study evaluates the constraints affecting the execution of planned hatch cover maintenance aboard MV. Orient King. A qualitative single-case study design was employed over a 12-month onboard observation period. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with three key deck personnel (Chief Officer, Bosun, and Able Seaman), structured operational observations, and a review of maintenance logs. Thematic analysis of the data revealed that maintenance compliance is fundamentally hindered by aggressive marine corrosion, a brittle supply chain causing 2-to-3-month lead times for critical spare parts (e.g., rubber packing, hydraulic hoses), and a dense operational tempo that routinely forces the deferral of scheduled Planned Maintenance System (PMS) tasks. Consequently, temporary repairs are frequently substituted for permanent solutions, elevating the risk of cargo damage. To mitigate these risks, this paper proposes a prioritized action plan, emphasizing strict adherence to the company's Safety Management System (Document No. JSP E41), optimized spare-part inventory control, and enhanced supervisory protocols.
