Due to the growing dynamism and complexity of technology development, early recognition and monitoring of technological, market, political and social developments is of growing importance to successful innovation. In this context, roadmapping is a method that answers the questions of creating new product development in innovation terms. Nevertheless, the important point is not solely to project what is technically feasible to be implemented, but rather to broaden the perspective with socio-economic aspects and particularly, as a critical factor, incorporating customer requirements at an early stage. This research elaborates the integration of conjoint analysis into product-technology roadmapping to develop a strategic e-money product-technology roadmap in Indonesia. This research focuses on the case of chip-based e-money and how to increase the utilization of the chip-based e-money in Indonesia. The chip-based e-money features resulted from conjoit analysis were minimum top-up Rp.20.000,-, no minimum amount on account, no minimum amount on one transaction, validity period 5 years and security mode on transaction using PIN. These features are then integrated into the product-technology roadmap, which was created and validated through in-depth interviews with experts from Bank Indonesia and University of Indonesia. Abstract

Small-medium enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia have been proven to be one of the important pillars of the national economy. Unfortunately, some problems hinder their development, and one of the critical problems is the quality of product packaging. The packages of SME products are considered poor, dirty, and unattractive. Packaging problem is one of the factors why consumers are less interested in buying and why SME products always lose in the competition with other products. This study discusses how to employ Kansei engineering to design better SME product packaging with a focus on psychological (affective) aspects. This research concludes that there are four components that represent consumers’ desires: Attractiveness, Robustness, Handy & Green, and Lightness. The final result of this research is the creation of four new designs for a product package that satisfies each of the above components.

Abstract

Abstract

Problems regarding machine damage often occur in many industries, especially the manufacturing industry, which causes large losses for companies. This is of course influenced by various factors such as engine temperatures that are too high, engine rotation that is too fast, poor engine torque values, and so on. This research aims to provide predictive analysis results regarding engine conditions that have the potential to experience damage. To achieve this goal, this research will carry out predictive maintenance analysis using a linear regression analysis approach in which two linear regression models will be carried out where the first model involves PCA preprocessing and the second model is carried out without PCA. This research will use the predictive maintenance dataset from the conference (Matzka, 2020). It is known that the MSE, RMSE, MAE, and R2 values of the two methods have the same values, namely 0.909, 0.953, 0.806, and 0.772 respectively. Based on this research, it is concluded that whether PCA is performed or not, it does not significantly affect the results of the regression analysis. This outcome can be attributed to the artificial nature of the dataset, rendering it ideal. Moreover, the retained PCA value of 98% is close to the number of attributes in the original dataset.

Abstract

The increasing digitalization of the manufacturing industry has encouraged companies to develop mobile applications that can optimize operational and administrative processes. However, limited studies have specifically addressed integrating emotional and functional aspects in designing user interfaces (UI) and user experiences (UX) for mobile applications in the manufacturing context. This study aims to develop a mobile application UI/UX design that aligns with users' emotional preferences and usability needs across three departments: logistics, maintenance, and production. The research integrates the Kansei Engineering method and Design Thinking framework through five stages: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. In the empathize stage, in-depth interviews and empathy mapping were conducted to capture user needs, utilizing a qualitative approach to gain deep insights into users’ emotional preferences. The ideate phase utilized Kansei Engineering Type I and factor analysis to classify emotional preferences (Kansei words) into two design modes: professional and simple. Quantitative analysis using Partial Least Squares (PLS) Regression was applied to map emotional preferences with design elements. Prototypes were developed based on these mappings and evaluated through usability testing, using metrics such as completion rate, time on task, error rate, and PSSUQ (Post-Study System Usability Questionnaire). The results show that the professional concept design performed better in usability and user satisfaction. This research provides a practical framework for integrating emotional and functional needs into UI/UX design, combining qualitative and quantitative methods, and offers insights for future digital application development in the manufacturing industry.
