Abstract

[ENGLSIH]Seed of soybean is known contained proteins that are good to consume. Soybean is able to live in mutualistic symbiosis with Rhizobium bacteria and non-symbiotic association with photosynthetic bacteria of Synechococcus sp. This bacteria can be a biofertilizer for plants even in unfavorable environmental conditions these bacteria can still contribute nutrients N from N2 fixation in the air. The conducted research aims to study substance of seed protein, and also the plant productions (Glycine max. L. Merill) which is associated with Synechococcus sp. strain Situbondo in various dosages of bokashi. To address this aim, a research was conducted at the Agrotechnopark field Jember University. The research was based on Split-split plot design with two factors, those are bacterium innoculation, and Bokashi rates. The Standard Error of Mean (SEM) was used as different mean test among treatments. The results of this research show that: (1) association of Synechococcus sp. in soybean plant tend to increase seed weight per plant by 34,61% and seed protein by 1,9% only in 0 kg/ha dosages of bokashi, however the effect of Synechococcus sp. was linier with the increasing dosages of bokashi. (2) Dosages of bokashi tend to increase seed protein content and seed weight per plant. Tanaman kedelai dapat bersimbiosis mutualisme dengan bakteri Rhizobium dan non simbiotik dengan bakteri fotosintetik Synechococcus sp. Bakteri ini dapat menjadi biofertilizer bagi tanaman bahkan dalam kondisi lingkungan yang tidak menguntungkan bakteri ini masih dapat menyumbang unsur hara N dari hasil fiksasi N2 di udara. Penelitian yang dilakukan bertujuan untuk mengetahui kandungan protein biji serta produksi tanaman kedelai yang berasosiasi dengan bakteri fotosintetik Synechococcus sp. Strain situbondo pada berbagai dosis bokasi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di lahan Agrotechnopark Universitas Jember. Penelitian ini menggunakan Split Plot dengan dua faktor yaitu faktor bakteri dan faktor bokashi. Nilai rerata masing-masing perlakuan setiap parameter dibandingkan dengan nilai SEM (Standard error of the mean). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) Asosiasi Synechococcus sp. pada tanaman kedelai (Glicine max L. Merrill) cenderung meningkatkan berat biji per-tanaman sebesar 34,61% dan protein biji sebesar 1,9% hanya pada dosis 0 kg/ha bokashi, namun pengaruh Synechococcus sp. tidak nyata seiring dengan meningkatnya dosis bokashi. (2) Dosis bokashi cenderung meningkatkan kandungan protein biji serta berat biji per-tanaman. Abstract

Nilam (Pogostemon cablin, Benth) merupakan salah satu tanaman penghasil minyak atsiri dari keluarga Labiatae. Hasil dari tanaman ini adalah minyak atsiri yang didapat melalui destilasi daun dan batang tanaman. Penelitian aplikasi pupuk daun dan bakteri Synechococcus sp. terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi minyak nilam (Pogostemon cablin, Bent) dilaksanakan di kebun percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Jember selama periode musim tanam 2010 s/d 2012. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan dua faktor yaitu konsentrasi pupuk daun (P1 = 1,5 g/l, P2 = 2 g/l dan P3 = 2,5 g/l) dan faktor aplikasi bakteri Synechococcus sp (B0 = tanpa aplikasi bakteri dan B1 = dengan aplikasi bakteri), setiap kombinasi perlakuan di ulang tiga kali dengan sampel pengamatan sebanyak lima tanaman. Hasil penelitian menujukkan bahwa kombinasi perlakuan konsentrasi pupuk daun 2,5 g/l dengan aplikasi bakteri Synechococcus sp. memberikan pengaruh sangat nyata terhadap produksi biomas sebesar (390,25 g/tanaman) , produksi minyak nilam sebesar (48,89 g/tanmn) dan kadar minyak nilam (1,72 %).Kata kunci : Konsentrasi pupuk daun, Synechococcus sp., minyak nilam.

Abstract

The study aimed to identify variations in morphological and molecular character of sugarcane mutants from the mutation of Ethyl Methane Sulphonate (EMS). It used 21 sugarcane mutants and two non-mutant PS865 plants as controls. The treatments with inundation were carried out on 1-17 mutants and non-mutants, while the treatments without inundation were carried out on 18-21 mutant plants and non-mutants. The tolerance characteristics base on the agronomic characters. The RAPD molecular character was observed to detect changes in genotypes and kinship relationships of the plants tested. The results showed that the characteristics of tolerance to the best inundation were found in mutants 1, mutants 3 and mutants 6 which were characterized by the root volume (cm3), fresh root weight (g), sucrose content and brix value (%). Mutant plants treated with inundation showed higher levels of sucrose and brix values. Whereas the control plants in fats, showed lower levels of sucrose and brix. Changes in sugarcane mutant genotypes from non-mutants based on RAPD markers ranged from 14.7 - 56.7 % which resulted in an average polymorphic band of 35.1 % from 37 DNA bands and produced four main groups based on dendrogram analysis.

Abstract

Identification of Indonesia sugarcane varieties tolerant to waterlogging has not been done extensively. Information on varieties tolerant to waterlogging is required for seedling establishment in waterlogged areas. The purpose of this research was to identify the sugarcane varieties responses to several duration levels of waterlogging at seedling stage. The planting materials used were collection of Sugar Factory Semboro including VMC 76-16, BL, PS 862, PS 864, and PS 881. This research was arranged in randomized complete block design (RCBD) with two factors and three replications. The first factor was 5 varieties; the second factor was waterlogging treatment with four levels, i.e. without waterlogging, 2, 4, and 6 weeks of waterlogging in the bucket. The results showed different level of tolerance to water logging among the varities. PS 881 and VMC 76-16 varieties were the most tolerant to waterlogging supported by its ability to maintain plant height, root volume, root and shoot dry weight after been waterlogged for 6 weeks. These varieties were also able to establish aerenchyme tissue and increased the stomatal density. PS 862 was the least tolerant variety to waterlogging.
