Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the effect of using Paired Reading/ Paired Summarizing on reading in comprehension student at SMK Abdurrab Pekanbaru, especially in Health Analysis department. This research used quasi-experimental method with pretest-posttest control group design. The total sample was 64 students who were divided into two classes, as experimental and control class. In ready ability pre-test reading ability the result showed 68.8% students were in bad category from both experimental and control classes. After conducting an experiment using the Paired Reading / Paired Summarizing learning method with the same teaching material, 12 students (35.3%) were obtained in the good category and 10 students (29.4%) in the very good category from experimental class, while the control class contained only 4 students (11.8%) and 2 students (5.9%) with the same category. The research can be concluded that using Paired Reading/Paired Summarizing on occasional student of Abdurrab Pekanbaru can increase the reading comprehension of student ability.

Abstract

The main purpose of this research is to find out of the improving students writing ability using peer evaluation at SMP Negeri 1 Rambah Hilir. The design of this research is classroom action research the data were collected by distributing the test to the students of participants. There were two techniques in collecting the data. They were pre-test and post-test. Pre-test has been conducted to find the ability of students’ writing ability before teaching by using Peer Evaluation. After giving pre-test, the treatment has been done by using Peer Evaluation. The participants of this research were the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Rambah Hilir. The total population is 40 students of the tenth grade. This research used a cluster sampling technique to get samples. The total . In this research, the data were collected by distributing the test to the students of participants. There were two techniques in collecting the data. They were pre-test and post-test. The result showed that there are increasing average scores of students from 55.96 (Pre-Test), to 61.00 (Post-Test 1), and 70.58 (Post-Test 2).It means that using Peer Evaluation in teaching writing is effective to improve students’ ability in writing a recount text

Abstract

Paired Reading and Paired summarizing is one teaching strategy that can use in teaching reading. The main purpose of this study is to find out the effects of Paired Reading and Paired Summarizing Strategy on students’ reading comprehension and motivation at SMK Abdurrab Pekanbaru. The design of this research is a quasi-experiment design with pre-test and post-test procedures. The total population is 97 students of the tenth grade. This research uses a cluster sampling technique to get samples. The total sample is 64 students. The sample is divided into two classes; the experimental class and the control class. The data are analyzed using the t-test method to find out whether there is a significant difference between the experimental class taught by using Paired Reading and Paired Summarizing as a treatment, and the control class is taught conventionally. it found that significant probabilities are higher than 0.05meaning that there is a significant difference in students' reading comprehension and learning motivation in the pre-test of both classes and post-test of both classes, and there is a significant difference in students' reading comprehension and learning motivation pre-test and post-test of experimental class. There is an effect of using Paired Reading and Paired Summarizing on students’ reading comprehension and learning motivation. At last, it suggested that the English teachers Paired Reading and Paired Summarizing in teaching are reading.

Abstract

Information gap technique is a technique teaching where students are missing information necessary to complete a task or solve a problem, and must communicate with their classmates to fill in the gaps. The main purpose of this study was to find out the influenced of using Information gap technique for first grade students in SMPN 1 Rambah Hilir in speaking ability. The design of this research was with pre test and post test procedures. The sample was 64 students that divided into two groups, experimental group and control group. The data was analyzed using t-test method to find out whether there were significant differences between experimental group was taught using Information gap technique and control group was not Information gap technique. It found that the students’ speaking ability at SMPN 1 students’ speaking ability at SMPN 1 Rambah Hilir after using information gap had 75.74 with the level of ability good and in control group the average score 59.90 with the level of ability was in mediocre. It means that information gap was effective to use in teaching speaking in order to improve the students’ speaking ability. In other words, information gap was significant in improving the first year students’ ability in speaking at SMPN 1 Rambah  Hilir.

Abstract

Writing in English can make students very enthusiastic about learning because writing requires a lot of things so that writing can be accepted academically. Not all students can write correctly. So, this is the author's motivation to find out the ability and the factors that influence of student difficulty in writing verbal and nominal sentence. The subjects of this research were 24 students. The method used in this research is descriptive research with qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques. The score of the quiz result were categorized fair good. Afterwards, the internal factors shown that the students were bad mood to learn English, not ready to learn English, they claimed English language is bored and they felt sleepy while learned English. Finally, the external factors shown that they didn’t like make a group discussion because couldn’t be focus on materials, the teacher not explained well and they confused the methods used

Abstract

One of the objectives of the zoning system regulation is the equalization of education for all students. In the effort to implement this zoning system, there are still many obstacles felt by the school, such as the limited number of school quotas in accepting students. From the parents and students there are problems with this zoning system because students cannot enter the desired school and limited quotas or the distance of the house and as if outside the zoning boundaries, causing confusion in sending children to school because they do not enter the school zoning that students want. The purpose of this research is how the implementation of the zoning system in the acceptance of students at SMAN 12 in Pekanbaru City. The research is qualitative research. Descriptive method with research informants consisting of Principal, students and parents of students. Data collection techniques used are interviews and documentation studies. The type of data and data sources used primary data and secondary data

Abstract

Guru Bahasa inggris memiliki tantangan tersendiri dalam mengajar bahasa inggris di Indonesia. Dalam mengajar Bahasa inggris guru tidak bisa lepas dalam Upaya peningkatan skill Bahasa inggris, salah satunya adalah keahlian dalam membaca teks Bahasa Inggris. Dalam penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui metode apa saja yang digunakan guru Bahasa inggris di SMAN 3 Rambah Hilir dalam mengajar Bahasa Inggris. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan wawancara dengan menanyakan apa saja kesulitan yang dialami siswa dalam membaca teks Bahasa Inggris dan metode pembelajaran yang guru gunakan dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca siswa. Hasil wawancara dengan guru ditemukan bahwa siswa sulit dalam memahami teks Bahasa Inggris karena mereka memilik kosa kata yang terbatas,sulit melafalkan kata dalam Bahasa inggris teks yang tidak familiar bagi mereka, motivasi rendah. Guru menggunakan beberapa metode yang efektif dalam Upaya meningkatkan kemampuan membaca siswa dengan metode membaca bersama,analisis teks,Latihan membaca mandir,skimming dan scanning dan media visual. Dengan metode ini siswa lebih antusias dan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca siswa.
