Abstract

The old village is a village that is said to have existed for a long time, even before the city of Batam was founded. One of them is Kampung Tua Tanjung Uma which is located on one of the northern headlands of Batam Island, Lubuk Baja Subdistrict and is also directly opposite the waters of the Singapore Strait. Kampung Tua Tanjung Uma has the potential to become a leading halal destination in batam which can have a good impact on the economy of the surrounding residents if managed properly. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the environment so that it can be managed properly. This type of research is quantitative research and only focuses on the physical indications of the Tanjung Uma Old Village area. Furthermore, the researcher provides recommendations for solutions to overcome problems based on the research.

Abstract

Ruang luar dalam sebuah rumah melayu merupakan salah satu unsur penting dalam perancangan ketika melihat aktivitas orang melayu yang banyak menghabiskan waktu nya di luar rumah. Orientasi rumah melayu pesisir memiliki ruang luar yang berbeda dengan orientasi rumah melayu yang berada di daratan. Aktivitas dan mata pencaharian utama orang melayu pesisir merupakan nelayan sehingga orientasi ruang luar bangunan rumah melayu pesisir beralih fungsi menjadi dek perkapalan yang menjadi unsur utama penunjang aktivitas mereka sehari-hari. Jenis-jenis tipologi rumah melayu pesisir pun berpengaruh berdasarkan orientasi ruang luar dan arah fasad. Rumah pesisir yang terletak diatas darat dan rumah pesisir yang terletak diatas laut memiliki perbedaan fungsi utama pada ruang luarnya. Penulis akan mengidentifikasi perbedaan unsur yang terdapat dari beberapa sampel rumah yang sudah di teliti di daerah kampong tua melayu pesisir Tanjung Riau, Batam. Meskipun dampak urbanisasi terlihat cukup signifikan di kawasan ini, masih ditemukan beberapa rumah yang mempertahankan ciri has bangunan Melayu. Terdapat 5 sampel rumah yang masih meninggalkan ciri khas rumah melayu terlihat dari aktivitas pemilik rumah yang meletakkan unsur ruang luar sebagai sarana utama penunjang mata pencaharian mereka. Penelitian ini merupakan identifikasi ruang luar kawasan rumah melayu pesisir yang sudah terdampak urbanisasi. Sehingga pada hasilnya, banyak rumah yang sudah kehilangan ciri khas melayu namun masih terlihat fungsi utama ruang luarnya berdasarkan aktivitas dan mata pencaharian masyarakatnya. Arahan desain yang disarankan adalah dengan memperluas area dek dikarenakan masih tersedianya area kosong untuk memberi keleluasaan bagi pemilik untuk dapat beraktivitas lebih efektif.

Abstract

Since the age of 3, children have been trained to understand the world little by little and shape their own personalities and characters. Children around the age of development tend to learn behavior and articulation through sight and hearing. Hearing educational stories in early ages will help them learn good traits more quickly. Children educative stories can become one of the sources to shape and build good characteristics of children. In collaboration with IOM, HMPS Architecture UIB has created a special audio visual story for children to understand. Delivering story plots with audio and visuals through the story of "It's Dyra" will provide positive results to build positive mindsets of children. The story will be distributed via YouTube and SoundCloud to make it easier to be shared directly to viewers

Abstract

Tropical architecture is an architectural building concept that focuses on the use of materials and techniques used in an accordance with the environment and climate in the tropical region. Buildings with tropical architectural style have special characteristics in adapting to climate conditions, but currently there are also modern buildings that can be categorized as contemporer tropical buildings. In the context of Batam city, contemporer tropical architectural buildings have not been prominent, especially in residential houses applications. Moreover, few residential houses failed to follow thermal comfort in the objective of Batam climate. This study aims to identify the elements of thermal comfort in residential houses which apply contemporer tropical architectural concepts in the city of Batam. In this case the author examine “Rumah Tambah” as a case study. By conducting a literature review and comparison of case studies as well as direct observation to the location, this research was conducted using an inductive qualitative method using primary and secondary data. Finally, this research produces an identification of thermal comfort that is applied to residential houses with a contemporer tropical architectural concept and provides recommendations for design elements in residential houses with a contemporer tropical architectural concept in the city of Batam.Â
