Abstract

Assurance, Relevance, Interest, Assessment and Satisfaction (ARIAS) is one learning model to students center. This learning model emphasizes the delivery the activeness of students in the class. In the implementation of this model has the five components which consists of five integrated components needed in the learning activities (1) assurance which foster students self-confidence, (2) relevance which connect the material with students real life, (3) interest which grow the students interest, (4) assessment which is an student assessment, and (5) satisfaction which provide a sense of proud to student. The aim of this research was to describe the teacher's ability to manage learning, student activities, student learning, and students' response using ARIAS learning model. Research conducted on the use of the model of ARIAS in social studies so far shown significant result on increase students understanding of social studies consepts. The Application Assurance, Relevance, Interest, Assessment and Satisfaction (ARIAS) learning model can increase student learning outcomes social studies.

Abstract

Character development and intellectual enhancement of students were important and prioritized in the national education system in Indonesia. The purpose of this research was to explain and find out the results of implementation the Strengthening of Character Education (SCE) through social studies learning and school culture at Junior High School Sunan Giri Menganti Gresik. This research was qualitative research based on a case study. The research was conducted in September-December 2020 with the subjects were school principals, vice principals in curriculum, social studies teachers, and school members. Data collection techniques was interviews, documentation, field notes, and observations. Data analysis used three methods, there were data reduction, presentation of data results, and conclusions. The results showed that implementation the SCE at Junior High School Sunan Giri Menganti in social studies learning written in the RPP based on the 2013 Curriculum reference and in school culture through classroom management, Islamic culture, mutual cooperation and discipline, home visit, National Day Celebration, and Islamic Day Celebration.

Abstract

The implementation of character education in Indonesia is deemed not optimal, because it has not fully implemented character values to its full potential. The Indonesian government through Presidential Regulation Number 87 in 2017 launched the Strengthening Character Education program in all education units covering nationalist, independent, religious, integrity, and mutual cooperation. The purpose of this study was to document the teacher's response in independent values as one of the values in strengthening character education through social studies learning during the adaption of Covid-19 period. Participants included 19 randomized social studies teachers in East Java. This research is a descriptive study with an instrument form list of interviews. Data in the form of teacher responses were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that 84.2% of teachers had facilitated the growth of independent values in students who were written in the Long Distance Learning Implementation and 52.6% of teachers said that distance learning social studies was less effective, so there needed to be an interesting method for distance learning social studies so the learning become more effective.
