Abstract

AbstractBackground: East Java is one of the regions in Indonesia that has received more attention regarding stunting because the incidence has around 36%. Stunting is a phenomenon of malnutrition that occurs in children where there are growing problems related to the length or height of the child. The history of choric energy deficiency in the mother during pregnancy, birth weight, and birth length is closely related to the incidence of stunting. The incidence of stunting at the Puskesmas Tambak Wedi Surabaya in 2018 was 18.9%. This data has increased from 2017 to 2.7%. Therefore, this study aims to determine the relationship between birth weight and birth length with the incidence of stunting under five at Puskesmas Tambak Wedi Surabaya. Methods: This study used observational analytic with a cross-sectional approach. The sample used was 30 toddlers with a simple random sampling technique. Stunting in toddlers is included in the dependent variable, while birth weight and birth length are included in the independent variables. Spearman's test was used to analyze the data in this study. Results: This study shows that there is a relationship between birth weight and the incidence of stunting in children under five who obtained a correlation coefficient value of 0.450 with a p-value of 0.012 with sufficient strength and there was a relationship between birth length and the incidence of stunting under-five children who obtained a correlation coefficient value of 0.463 with a p-value of 0.010 with sufficient relationship strength. Conclusion: Birth weight and birth length are associated with the incidence of stunting under five. Mothers need to follow the advice of health workers in maintaining nutrition during preconception, antenatal, natal, and post-natal periods with the help of the husband and family.

Abstract

Human life quality is related to the density of daily physical activity. Human diseases are related to how many steps to take within a day. The level of human physical activity can be measured using the IPAQ scoring protocol, created by WHO in 1988. The relationship between IPAQ score and health problems show to be correlated. Nevertheless, the relationship between the level of physical activity using the IPAQ score instrument and resting heart rate is not known yet. This researcher conducted this study to determine the relationship between physical activity level using the IPAQ scoring protocol and rest heart rate. This study is an observative analytic with a cross-sectional study design using a simple random sampling technique. This study was conducted in Surabaya from November 2019 until March 2020 using primary data in the form of the IPAQ scoring method and resting heart rate examination using the Polar Heart Rate tool, which is then processed using IBM SPSS Statistics 22. The IPAQ score and resting heart rate measurement results using polar heart rate tools showed that the most college student has a high degree of physical activity level (72%) and a normal level of resting heart rate (90%). When measured with the Pearson correlation test, the correlation of those two components has a negative and weak correlation (r= -0,337, p<0,05). Overall, the correlation of physical activity level and resting heart rate are inverted and weak. For further research can be done to assess other things like one’s external stressors and lifestyle.

Abstract

The aims of this article is to find out how the effects of omega 3 supplementation and physical exercise on the inflammatory response. The method applied is literature review. The results showed that omega 3 supplementation and regular exercise can reduce the inflammatory response that is not controlled. Inflammation is a protective response caused by injury or tissue damage. After physical activity the body will experienced an increase in inflammatory markers, namely C-Reactive Protein (CRP), Interleukin 1 (IL-1), Interleukin 6 (IL-6), Interleukin 10 (IL-10) and Tumor Necrosis Factor-a (TNF-a). Physical exercise, especially high-intensity eccentric exercises, will cause damage to muscle fibers and delayed muscle pain (DOMS) which results in disruption to muscle strength. Muscle pain is caused by an inflammatory process due to increased levels (TNF-a) in response to muscle damage. Inflammatory response that is not controlled can be controlled by giving omega 3 supplementation. It can be concluded that omega 3 supplementation and regular exercise are proven to reduce the inflammatory response that is not controlled, soto reduce the intensity of pain which support the performance in carrying out the exercise program.
