Abstract

Kata kunci: Pembelajaran, Efektivitas, Media Pembelajaran, Stoikiometri, Perhitungan Kimia, Chess of Chemistry (COC) atau Catur Kimia.

Abstract

One of the heavy metals contained in the textile industry wastewater is chromium (Cr). Chromium hexavalent ions (Cr6+) are highly toxic and its accumulation in the human body will cause various negative impacts. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of silica synthesized by the sol-gel method to gain homogeneity and high purity. Synthesized silica was calcined at 700°C for 4 hours and its performance to adsorb Cr(VI) ions  in textile wastewater was investigated. The presence of -OH group from silanol (–Si-OH) was appeared at wavenumber 3367.70 cm-1, meanwhile siloxane functional groups were recorded at 1056.99 cm-1 and 784.38 cm-1 due to the O-Si-O asymmetric stretching and Si-O bending vibration. Optimum conditions of silica to adsorb Cr(VI) ions took place at pH 2 and contact time of 90 minutes by adsorption efficiency of 75,65% and followed the Freundlich isotherm.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the optimal color space and chemometric technique for digital image colorimetry to determine ethanol content (% v/v) in apple, orange, and grape juices, using potassium dichromate (K2Cr2O7) under acidic conditions. The accuracy of colorimetric–chemometric integration across various color spaces (RGB, HSV, CIELab, CMYK, CIELuv, CIEXYZ, and CIELch) was benchmarked against UV–Vis spectrophotometry using metrics such as coefficient of determination (R²), mean absolute percentage error (MAPE), and root–mean–squared error (RMSE). Various chemometric techniques (PLS, PCR, MLR, multivariable–SVR, and multivariable NN regression) were evaluated. Results demonstrate that combining the CIELab color space with PLS or MLR yields the most accurate ethanol determination. Both techniques achieved average MAPE and %RMSE values below 10% (7.026% and 7.78% for PLS; 7.34% and 7.94% for MLR) and a competitive limit of detection of 0.02% (v/v) at best, and 0.087% (v/v) on average, indicating excellent model predictability and accuracy.

Abstract

Universities play an essential role in achieving Indonesia's 2060 carbon-neutral target. Emissions in the campus are mainly sourced from its electrical energy, transportation, and water use, along with other wastes. Electrical energy from solar is renewable energy, free from pollutants and noise pollution. This paper examines the sustainable energy performance of solar energy at the Universitas Islam Negeri Raden Fatah Palembang (UINRFP) and its development efforts. From August 2022 to March 2023, a solar power plant (SPP) operation with a capacity of 7.74 kWp has generated 6,281.5 kWh of electricity (28.55 kWh/day). Using a radiation factor of 0.8 and an equivalent sun hour of 4.61 (3-5 hours/day), the rooftop capacity of all buildings on Jakabaring Campus is 2,000 kWp, the potential of SPP electricity of UINRFP will exceed 39.3% compared to the 2022 electricity demand. If the capacity is, half the electricity generated from renewable energy meets 70% of the demand. Gradually UINRFP continues to develop its energy sources towards sustainable energy. The development of other research-scale renewable energy with hybrid solar energy and wind power for the aesthetic lighting function on the rectorate building has the potential to generate 290 kWh/year. In addition, micro-hydro energy sources from campus canals (water volume ±9,400 m3) and biomass are potential renewable energy sources at UINRFP for a sustainable campus in the future and contributing to reducing the impact of climate change.

Abstract

To enhance the TiO2 anatase's ability to degrade nitrogen oxides (NOx), this study seeks to optimize the photocatalytic activity, selectivity, and DeNOx index of anatase TiO2 nanoparticles through surface modification using metallic and bimetallic (Cu dan Pt) photodeposition. The samples' photocatalytic performance is assessed by NOx abatement measurement, while their characteristics are analyzed using UV-Vis diffuse reflectance and an X-ray diffractometer. According to the measurement, S6 (0.05% Pt/TiO2) has a photonic efficiency of 0.17 for the degradation of NOx, which is 2.15 times higher than bare TiO2. The DeNOx index, which combines selectivity and photonic efficiency, suggests that S9 (0.05% Pt + 0.1% Cu/TiO2) is the most effective sample in the visible light region, with a value of 0.01. Under broadband illumination, S6 has a DeNOx index of 0.13, which is the highest among all samples, while S9 has a moderate-level DeNOx index of 0.019. All samples have a higher DeNOx index than the bare anatase TiO2 nanoparticles. Bimetallic samples exhibit the best performance under visible light, whereas Pt-modified TiO2 anatase performs best in the broadband light range.

Abstract

This paper aims to explain and describe the implementation of the concept of sustainable water management applied at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang, as part of the implementation of the green campus idea. UIN Raden Fatah's participation in the UI GreenMetric program has been started since 2019 and will be active in 2020. Water management is an important thing at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang because of the condition of the campus itself which is in a water reservoir and swamp area. The campus is divided into two locations, namely Campus A in the Jalan Jenderal Sudirman area and Campus B in the Jakabaring area, Palembang. Campus B is a new campus that will only start operating in 2021, therefore, water management arrangements are very important. The management of water resources is carried out with the Wash program which consists of revitalizing clean water infrastructure, metering clean water supply, water reuse program, improving surface water quality, as well as construction of drainage and canalization. In practice, higher education leaders issue policies that involve all the academic community, ranging from education staff, educators, to students. Keyword: water, green campus, sustainable, swamp
