Abstract

Town’s area needs both open and green spaces. This is not only for thesake of aesthetical requirement in shaping the town, but also to fulfill theneeds of fresher and cooler air for its inhabitants. Green area is required toaccommodate people social activities, and also to reduce air pollution –particularly in the form of carbon dioxide comes from vehicles. Besidesreducing air temperature, green area also benefit people by producing oxygenand absorbing dust. Green area must be provided adequately in the town, andbe controlled firmly by legislation. By the provision of sufficient and well-distributed green spaces in the town, people will be guaranteed to have suchlower air temperatures, fresher air and better living environment. This may beresulting, whether direct or indirectly, in reducing the consumption of energy inmany sectors in the town. This article discusses the way green space andvegetation are giving benefit to the inhabitants through several aspects asmentioned above.

Abstract

Modern life and modern technology require vast use of energy. The use ofenergy in the cities has been dramatically escalated within the last decades. Since most of energy consumed by people live in urban areas is from the non-renewable resources like fossil fuels, we will certainly face problems of energy crisis and global warming to sustain our cities livable in the future. Due to the moderate prevailing climate conditions, which are close to the comfort temperature, less energy will be required to modify indoor temperature suitable for human indoor activities. Since the dependency to the energy is small, people in the humid tropic may have better chances to sustain their cities livable in the future. However, most of Indonesian cities are designed in such away with little consideration to some important design factors as climate, environment, energy, green transportation and an adequate infra structure, like urban drainage. In return, many cities are nothealthy and convinience to be lived for and are not in line with the sustainable design approach. This article provides some discussion on how tropical cities in Indonesia must be planned and designed toward sustainable built environment. Energy as the main role in sustaining our built environment is taken as a priority here to be considered in designing our humid tropical cities of Indonesia. This is in order to achieve sustainable living environment for our future generation and us.

Abstract

Penelitian kenyamanan termal pada  ward  (bangunan rawat inap rumah sakit) belum banyak dilakukan. Isu pokok penelitian ini  mencakup aspek kenyamanan termal dan aspek konsumsi energi listrik ward di wilayah tropis lembap. Tujuan penelitian ini mengungkap relasi tingkat kenyamanan  termal dan tingkat konsumsi energi listrik ward di wilayah tropis lembap. Metoda penelitian ini bersifat kuantitatif dengan jumlah sampel 11  unit ward (5 unit di dataran rendah/ wilayah Cirebon dan 6  unit di dataran tinggi/ wilayah Bandung – Provinsi Jawa Barat, Indonesia); jumlah responden 1099 orang (500 orang berada di kelompok ward dataran rendah, dan 599 orang di kelompok ward dataran tinggi).  Peralatan yang digunakan untuk mendata kondisi parameter iklim dan pilihan sensasi termal pengguna ward adalah pengukur dan perekam digital Heat Index WBGT Meter-Model WBGT-2010SD ex Lutron dan Anemometer-Model AM-4222 ex Lutron, serta formulir survey. Uji statistik dan analisa regresi linier terhadap data yang diperoleh, menunjukkan hasil: pada ward dataran rendah dengan temperatur udara lingkungan berkisar 23.4 – 37.2°C;  tingkat  kenyamanan termalnya 29.2°C dan  tingkat konsumsi energi listriknya berkisar 62 kWh/m2/th. Sementara pada ward dataran tinggi dengan  temperatur udara lingkungan berkisar 18.4 – 32.2°C;  tingkat kenyamanan termalnya 27.4°C dan tingkat konsumsi energi listriknya berkisar 49 kWh/m2/th.  Kesimpulan; pada ward di wilayah tropis lembap ditemukan adanya fakta relasi sebagai berikut: semakin tinggi temperatur udara lingkungannya,  semakin tinggi tingkat kenyamanan termalnya, dan semakin tinggi pula jumlah konsumsi energi listriknya. Kata Kunci: Kenyamanan termal, konsumsi energi listrik, ward, tropis lembab ABSTRACTResearch on thermal comfort in the ward (hospital inpatient building) has not been widely carried out. The purpose of this study is to reveal the relation between thermal comfort level and ward electrical energy consumption level in humid tropical regions. This research method is quantitative with a sample of 11 ward units (5 units in the lowland / Cirebon region and 6 units in the highlands / Bandung area - West Java Province, Indonesia); the number of respondents is 1099 people (500 people are in the lowland ward group, and 599 people in the highland ward group). The equipment used to record climate parameter conditions and the choice of thermal sensations for ward users is the WBGT-2010SD Model Heat Index WBGT Meter and digital recorder ex Lutron and Anemometer-Model AM-4222 ex Lutron, as well as survey forms. Statistical tests and linear regression analysis of the data obtained showed results: in the lowland ward with ambient air temperature ranging from 23.4 - 37.2 ° C; the lowest level of comfort is 29.2 ° C and the level of electricity consumption is around 62 kWh / m2 / year. While in the highland ward with environmental air temperatures ranging from 18.4 - 32.2 ° C; the lowest level of comfort is 27.4 ° C and the level of electricity consumption is around 49 kWh / m2 / year. Conclusion; In the ward in the humid tropics, the facts of the relationship are as follows: the higher the air temperature of the environment, the higher the level of thermal comfort, and the higher the amount of electricity consumption. Keywords: thermal comfort, electrical energy consumption, ward, humid tropical

Abstract

Pembangunan rumah yang tererncana dan tidak terencana telah mengubah lingkungan fisik ruang. Sehingga kenyamanan fisik ruang terabaikan dan tidak terpenuhi. Kampung Naga merupakan permukiman tradisional yang masih menjunjung tinggi adat istiadat. Ketentuan-ketentuan dalam membangun dipegang kuat oleh anggota komunitas. bagaimana kondisi tingkat kenyamanan fisik yang terjadi di hunian masyarakat tersebut. Apakah kenyamanan fisik yang ditempati masyarakat itu baik? Penelitian ini menggunakan Metode Kuantitatif dengan cara melakukan pengukuran terhadap Kenyamanan Fisik Ruang di Kampung Naga, Jawa Barat. Hasil dari penelitian adalah kenyamanan fisik  ruang masyarakat Kampung Naga cukup nyaman bagi masyarakat yang menghuni rumah-rumah di Kampung Naga Tasikmalaya. Kata Kunci : kenyaman fisik ruang, permukiman tradisional, Kampung Naga
