Abstract

This research was conducted in Village S. Mallori, Sub District Dua Pitue, Sidrap Regencywhich lasted from May to August 2015. This study aims to determine the growth and production ofrice varieties Mekongga, Inpari 14 and Inpari 30 on some legowo planting system. This researchwas conducted based on Split Plot Design. As the main plot is legowo consisting of four croppingsystems, namely tiles (30 cm x 30 cm), legowo 2: 1 (40 cm x 15 cm x 15 cm), Legowo 3: 1 (40 cmx 15 cm x 15 cm), and Legowo 4: 1 (40 cm x 15 cm x 15 cm) while the subplot is a variety consistingof three varieties namely Mekongga, Inpari 14 and Impari 30. There are 12 treatment combinationswhich are replicated 3 (three) times so that overall there are a total of 36 plot total experiments. The results showed that the use of different planting systems significantly significantly affected thegrowth and production of rice crops with the best results shown by tile planting system (30 cm x30 cm) on the parameters of the number of productive tillers of 16.41 stems, the number of grains46per panicle 178.31 grains, and panicle density of 7.02 grains.cm-1. However, the highest yield ofgrain per hectare was shown by the planting of legowo 2: 1 and legowo 3: 1 systems, ie 6.38 and6.33 tons GKP.ha-1, respectively. Inpari 14 varieties gave the best results on the parameters ofnumber of productive tillers (11.22 stems), panicle length (25.99 cm) and percentage of unhulledgrain (85.65%), and empty grain (14.34%). There is no interaction between the treatment ofplanting systems with varieties on the growth and production of good rice crops

Abstract

Rice is a food-crop commodity that plays an important role in Indonesia's economy. This research aims to analyze the following aspects: 1) the response of several rice varieties to the growth and production of rice and 2) the effect of iron coating on the growth and production of rice. This study was conducted in Borongloe Village, Bontomarannu District, Gowa Regency, from March to December 2021. The split-plot design was applied for two factors. The main plot was used to test for the first factor, namely variety, for Inpari 32, Cigeulis, and Mekongga, and the subplot was used to test for the second factor, namely coating, uncoating, 25% coating, and 50% coating. The two factors were combined to create 9 treatment combinations. Each treatment combination was repeated four times. The Inpari 32 variety was found to be the best variety for coating based on the number of pithy seeds (82.04 per panicle), the weight of the seeds per panicle (2.50 g), and production (4.04 t h-1). Significant plant height was also seen in the Mekongga variety (121.39 cm). Furthermore, the 25% coating treatment was the best treatment for increasing crop yields based on the character of the number of tillers (24.32 tillers per clump) and the number of productive tillers (19.31 stem).

Abstract

Volatile compound is one of the key factors for aromatic components of rice. This study aimed to identify the key aroma components and their relationship with plant productivity in the Pare Bau variety mutant lines and its wild type. Volatile extraction was carried out using the headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) method and analysed by the Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS) instrument. The results of the identification of volatile compounds showed a total of 224 compounds in the mutant lines and wild type. However, only 14 compounds were suspected as key aroma compounds in Pare Bau rice, namely 2-Acetyl-1-pyrroline, Indole, 1-Octanol, 1-Octen-3-ol, 2,4-Nonadienal, (E,E)-, Octanal, 2-Nonenal, (E)-, 2-Octenal, (E)-, Decanal, Hexanal, Nonanal, Furan, 2-pentyl-, toluene and vanillin. The results on aroma compounds of mutant lines using principal component analysis showed that there were differences in the main characteristics of several strains and wild type. There was no relationship between increasing volatile concentration and plant productivity, vice versa.
