Abstract

This study aims to develop a contextual mathematical literacy instrument based on local wisdom that is valid, reliable, and practical for junior high school students. The development of this instrument was motivated by the limited availability of assessment tools capable of measuring students’ mathematical literacy comprehensively and in alignment with their cultural contexts. The research employed the ADDIE development model, consisting of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The study involved 30 students from a junior high school in Tangerang Regency. Data were collected through written tests, expert validation sheets, classroom observations, and practicality questionnaires. The results of expert validation showed an average score of 4.65, indicating that the instrument is highly valid. Field trials revealed a reliability coefficient of α = 0.89, suggesting high internal consistency. Furthermore, the practicality and acceptability levels reached 88.7% and 90.3%, respectively, both categorized as very good. These findings indicate that the developed contextual mathematical literacy instrument based on local wisdom is feasible for use as an authentic assessment tool to evaluate students’ mathematical literacy skills in a meaningful and culturally relevant manner.

Abstract

The use of bamboo as part of the cultural identity of Tangerang Regency has begun to decline due to the development of industry and the property sector. Universities have a strategic role in supporting the development of culture and creative economies based on local wisdom. One of the real forms of contribution from Universitas Tangerang Raya is through participation in the Tangerang Regency Video Competition with the theme of strengthening bamboo identity. This competition aims to increase public awareness of the importance of bamboo in social, economic, and cultural life. This article discusses the active role of universities in this activity, including socialization, training, mentoring participants, and academic contributions in the documentation and publication of competition results. The results of the study show that university participation has a positive impact on increasing community and student involvement in raising local potential through creative media.

Abstract

Technological developments demand adaptation in the world of education, particularly in the integration of technology into mathematics learning. Prospective student teachers need to possess the competencies to create innovative learning media that are not only content-accurate but also visually and technologically engaging. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) content in producing Android-based mathematics learning media. The method used was descriptive qualitative through triangulation of observation data, discussions, and analysis of the output product. The results showed that PjBL facilitated students in practicing the engineering cycle of media creation. However, obstacles were encountered in the Technology and Mathematics elements, where students experienced difficulty transforming textbook content into the system logic of an Android application. Furthermore, technical barriers to mastery of tools (Technology) such as iSpring Suite were a major challenge. Nevertheless, this approach successfully encouraged students to integrate art elements into interface design and mathematical logic within a single, integrated product. It was concluded that the implementation of PjBL with a STEAM nuance effectively helped lecturers and students produce usable digital media products.

Abstract

Understanding number operations is a fundamental component of elementary mathematics learning. However, many students struggle to grasp these concepts due to a lack of early identification of their initial knowledge. This study aims to investigate the effect of diagnostic assessment on improving students' conceptual understanding of number operations in elementary school. The study employed a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. Data were collected from two groups of fourth-grade students: the experimental group received diagnostic assessments, while the control group did not. The instrument used was a conceptual understanding test administered before and after instruction. The analysis revealed a significant improvement in the experimental group compared to the control group. These findings suggest that diagnostic assessment helps teachers identify students’ learning difficulties early and tailor instruction to meet their specific needs. Therefore, diagnostic assessment can serve as an effective tool to enhance the quality of mathematics instruction and student learning outcomes in elementary education.Pemahaman konsep operasi bilangan merupakan aspek mendasar dalam pembelajaran matematika di tingkat sekolah dasar. Namun, banyak siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami konsep ini karena keterbatasan pengetahuan awal yang tidak teridentifikasi sejak awal pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh asesmen diagnostik terhadap peningkatan pemahaman konsep operasi bilangan siswa sekolah dasar. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain pretest-posttest control group. Data dikumpulkan dari dua kelompok siswa kelas IV, yaitu kelompok eksperimen yang diberikan asesmen diagnostik dan kelompok kontrol yang tidak diberikan perlakuan tersebut. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes pemahaman konsep yang diberikan sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan dalam pemahaman konsep pada kelompok eksperimen dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa asesmen diagnostik dapat membantu guru dalam mengidentifikasi kesulitan belajar siswa secara dini dan menyusun strategi pembelajaran yang lebih sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa. Dengan demikian, asesmen diagnostik dapat menjadi alat yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran matematika di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

The low mathematics learning outcomes of elementary school students indicate the need for interactive, contextual, and enjoyable learning innovations. This study aims to implement and analyze the effectiveness of the Dakota Board digital media (mathematics dakon board) in improving elementary school students' mathematics learning outcomes on the Greatest Common Factor and Least Common Multiple material. The method used is Classroom Action Research with a collaborative approach implemented in several stages. The subjects of the study were fifth-grade students in an elementary school who actively participated in learning. Data collection techniques in this study included observing student engagement using observation sheets, measuring learning outcomes through tests (pretest and posttest), and filling out questionnaires to determine student learning motivation. The collected data were analyzed quantitatively using descriptive statistics and Paired Sample t-Test to measure the significance of differences in learning outcomes before and after treatment. The results showed that the use of the Dakota Board media can increase student engagement, strengthen motivation, and facilitate understanding of mathematical concepts. This media is also able to create an interactive and enjoyable learning atmosphere. The conclusion of this study is that the Dakota Board is effective as an innovative media to improve elementary school students' mathematics learning outcomes.Rendahnya hasil belajar matematika siswa sekolah dasar menunjukkan perlunya inovasi pembelajaran yang interaktif, kontekstual, dan menyenangkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menerapkan dan menganalisis efektivitas media digital Papan Dakota (papan dakon matematika) dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika siswa SD pada materi Faktor Persekutuan Terbesar dan Kelipatan Persekutuan Terkecil. Metode yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan pendekatan kolaboratif yang dilaksanakan dalam beberapa tahap. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas V di salah satu sekolah dasar yang aktif mengikuti pembelajaran. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini meliputi observasi keterlibatan siswa menggunakan lembar observasi, pengukuran hasil belajar melalui tes (pretest dan posttest), serta pengisian angket untuk mengetahui motivasi belajar siswa. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis secara kuantitatif menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan uji Paired Sample t-Test untuk mengukur signifikansi perbedaan hasil belajar sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media Papan Dakota dapat meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa, memperkuat motivasi, dan mempermudah pemahaman konsep matematika. Media ini juga mampu menciptakan suasana belajar yang interaktif dan menyenangkan. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa Papan Dakota efektif digunakan sebagai media inovatif untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika siswa sekolah dasar.

Abstract

Students' mathematical problem-solving abilities are significantly influenced by affective aspects, particularly self-confidence and curiosity. Therefore, strengthening these aspects becomes crucial in the learning process to build a solid foundation for dealing with complex cognitive challenges. This study aims to examine differences in students' mathematical problem-solving abilities based on varying levels of self-confidence and curiosity. The research was conducted at a primary school in Tangerang Regency using a comparative quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 30 students categorized into high and low groups based on questionnaire results. Research instruments included a Likert-scale questionnaire to measure self-confidence and curiosity, as well as an essay test to assess problem-solving ability. Data analysis using a t-test revealed significant differences between students with high and low levels of self-confidence, as well as between those with high and low curiosity. These findings emphasize the importance of integrating affective reinforcement in mathematics instruction to enhance students' problem-solving skills.Kemampuan siswa dalam memecahkan masalah matematika secara nyata dipengaruhi oleh aspek afektif, khususnya tingkat kepercayaan diri dan rasa ingin tahu. Oleh karena itu, penguatan aspek-aspek tersebut menjadi bagian krusial dalam proses pembelajaran, guna membangun fondasi yang kokoh dalam menghadapi tantangan kognitif yang kompleks. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji perbedaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika berdasarkan variasi tingkat kepercayaan diri dan rasa ingin tahu siswa. Studi dilakukan di salah satu sekolah dasar di Kabupaten Tangerang dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif komparatif. Sampel terdiri atas 30 peserta didik yang diklasifikasikan ke dalam kategori tinggi dan rendah berdasarkan hasil angket. Instrumen penelitian meliputi angket skala Likert untuk mengukur kepercayaan diri dan rasa ingin tahu, serta tes uraian untuk menilai kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika. Analisis data menggunakan uji-t menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara siswa dengan kepercayaan diri tinggi dan rendah, begitu pula antara siswa dengan tingkat rasa ingin tahu yang tinggi dan rendah. Hasil ini menegaskan bahwa pembelajaran matematika perlu melibatkan penguatan aspek afektif guna meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa.

Abstract

Elementary school students’ mathematical representation skills are still rather limited as conventional teaching approaches abound and fall short of appropriately connecting theoretical ideas to actual situations. This study seeks to understand how the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) strategy influences pupils’ capacity for mathematical representation. Employing A control group for the pretest and posttest strategyThe research method quasiexperimental. Included were two consciously selected fourth-grade classes in Tigaraksa District, Tangerang Regency. The experimental group got RME-based schooling while the control group underwent conventional instruction. The instrument of investigation was a descriptive study evaluating representational abilities in symbolic, visual, and verbal formats. Using SPSS, the data wes then analyzed using homogeneity, normality, matched sample t-test, as well as an independent sample t-test. The study showed an average of 13 points distinction between the posttest and results of the control group and those of the experimental group, indicating a major improvement in pupils’ results. This finding helps the theory that the RME technique can improve students’ ability to represent mathematical concepts a lot. Consequently, at the primary school level, the RME approach has proven to be effective in improving mathematical understanding in a more contextual and significant.Kemampuan representasi matematis siswa sekolah dasar masih tergolong rendah akibat dominasi metode pembelajaran konvensional yang kurang mengaitkan konsep abstrak dengan situasi nyata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh pendekatan Realistik Matematika Edukasi (RME) terhadap peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa. Dengan menggunakan strategi control group pretest-posttest, metode penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen melibatkan dua kelas IV di Kecamatan Tigaraksa, Kabupaten Tangerang yang dipilih secara purposif. Kelompok eksperimen memperoleh pembelajaran berbasis RME, sedangkan kelompok kontrol mendapat pembelajaran konvensional. Insturmen penelitian berupa tes uraian yang mengukur kemampuan representasi dalam bentuk simbolik, visual, dan verbal, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas, homogenitas, paired sample t-test, dan independent sample t-test dengan bantuan SPSS. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan pada skor posttest siswa di kelas eksperimen dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol, dengan rata-rata selisih 13 poin. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa pendekatan RME secara signifikan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa. Dengan demikian, pendekatan RME terbukti efektif mampu meningkatkan pemahaman matematika secara lebih kontekstual dan signifikan.

Abstract

The advancement of technology in education demands changes in instructional strategies, including at the elementary school level. Teacher interaction in digital learning plays a crucial role in fostering student engagement. This study aims to examine the influence of teacher interaction through digital platforms on elementary school students' learning engagement. The research employed a quantitative approach using an ex post facto method. The subjects were fifth-grade students from a public elementary school actively using digital learning platforms. Data were collected through a closed-ended questionnaire designed around two main variables: teacher interaction and student engagement. Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression. The results revealed that teacher interaction significantly influences students’ learning engagement in the context of online learning. These findings highlight the importance of active, open, and supportive communication by teachers in digital learning environments. Moreover, consistent interaction quality can enhance students’ motivation and activeness during learning. This study recommends ongoing teacher training in managing effective, engaging, and sustainable digital interaction strategies as part of adapting to digital education in primary schools.Perkembangan teknologi menuntut perubahan strategi pembelajaran, dimana interaksi guru secara digital menjadi kunci keterlibatan belajar siswa sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh interaksi guru melalui platform digital terhadap keterlibatan belajar siswa SD. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan metode ex post facto. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas V pada salah satu sekolah dasar yang aktif menggunakan platform pembelajaran daring. Data diperoleh melalui angket tertutup yang disusun berdasarkan dua variabel utama, yaitu interaksi guru dan keterlibatan belajar siswa. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan regresi linier sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa interaksi guru secara signifikan memengaruhi keterlibatan belajar siswa dalam konteks pembelajaran daring. Temuan ini menunjukkan pentingnya peran guru dalam menciptakan komunikasi yang aktif, terbuka, dan mendukung melalui media digital. Selain itu, kualitas interaksi yang konsisten dapat meningkatkan motivasi dan keaktifan siswa dalam proses belajar. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan perlunya pelatihan guru dalam pengelolaan interaksi daring yang efektif, menarik, dan berkelanjutan sebagai bagian dari adaptasi pendidikan digital di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between mathematics anxiety and perceptions of technology use in mathematics learning in sixth grade elementary school students. Mathematics anxiety is a psychological factor that can affect student learning outcomes, while perceptions of technology have become essential in today’s digital era. This research used a quantitative correlational method with 20 sixth-grade elementary school students as subjects. The instruments used were adapted from MARS-E and Mutakin for mathematics anxiety, and from TAM and Hidayati for perceptions of technology use. Normality tests showed that the data were normally distributed with significance values of 0.449 for perception and 0.190 for anxiety. Pearson’s correlation test showed a value of r = -0.062 with a significance of 0.795, indicating no significant relationship between mathematics anxiety and perceptions of technology use. These results imply that integrating technology into mathematics learning can be conducted regardless of students’ anxiety levels towards mathematics.Perkembangan teknologi dalam dunia pendidikan menuntut siswa untuk mampu beradaptasi, termasuk dalam pembelajaran matematika yang seringkali menimbulkan kecemasan bagi sebagian siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kecemasan matematika dan persepsi terhadap penggunaan teknologi dalam pembelajaran matematika di kelas VI SD. Kecemasan matematika merupakan salah satu faktor psikologis yang dapat memengaruhi hasil belajar siswa, sedangkan persepsi terhadap teknologi menjadi aspek penting di era digital saat ini. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif korelasional dengan subjek sebanyak 20 siswa kelas VI SD. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa angket kecemasan matematika adaptasi dari MARS-E dan Mutakin, serta angket persepsi terhadap penggunaan teknologi adaptasi dari TAM dan Hidayati. Hasil uji normalitas menunjukkan bahwa data berdistribusi normal dengan nilai signifikansi masing-masing 0,449 untuk persepsi dan 0,190 untuk kecemasan. Uji korelasional Pearson menunjukkan nilai r = -0,062 dengan signifikansi 0,795, yang berarti tidak terdapat hubungan signifikan antara kecemasan matematika dan persepsi terhadap penggunaan teknologi. Hasil ini memberikan implikasi bahwa integrasi teknologi dalam pembelajaran matematika dapat dilakukan tanpa dipengaruhi oleh tingkat kecemasan siswa terhadap matematika.
