Abstract

This study aims to develop a contextual mathematical literacy instrument based on local wisdom that is valid, reliable, and practical for junior high school students. The development of this instrument was motivated by the limited availability of assessment tools capable of measuring students’ mathematical literacy comprehensively and in alignment with their cultural contexts. The research employed the ADDIE development model, consisting of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The study involved 30 students from a junior high school in Tangerang Regency. Data were collected through written tests, expert validation sheets, classroom observations, and practicality questionnaires. The results of expert validation showed an average score of 4.65, indicating that the instrument is highly valid. Field trials revealed a reliability coefficient of α = 0.89, suggesting high internal consistency. Furthermore, the practicality and acceptability levels reached 88.7% and 90.3%, respectively, both categorized as very good. These findings indicate that the developed contextual mathematical literacy instrument based on local wisdom is feasible for use as an authentic assessment tool to evaluate students’ mathematical literacy skills in a meaningful and culturally relevant manner.

Abstract

Technological developments demand adaptation in the world of education, particularly in the integration of technology into mathematics learning. Prospective student teachers need to possess the competencies to create innovative learning media that are not only content-accurate but also visually and technologically engaging. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) content in producing Android-based mathematics learning media. The method used was descriptive qualitative through triangulation of observation data, discussions, and analysis of the output product. The results showed that PjBL facilitated students in practicing the engineering cycle of media creation. However, obstacles were encountered in the Technology and Mathematics elements, where students experienced difficulty transforming textbook content into the system logic of an Android application. Furthermore, technical barriers to mastery of tools (Technology) such as iSpring Suite were a major challenge. Nevertheless, this approach successfully encouraged students to integrate art elements into interface design and mathematical logic within a single, integrated product. It was concluded that the implementation of PjBL with a STEAM nuance effectively helped lecturers and students produce usable digital media products.

Abstract

Spatial ability is a crucial aspect that supports students in visualizing and understanding abstract mathematical concepts, particularly flat-sided geometric shapes in geometry learning. This study aims to identify the factors that differentiate students with low and high spatial abilities through discriminant analysis. The factors analyzed include Mental Rotation, Spatial Orientation, Visualization, Spatial Relation, and Spatial Perception, measured using a spatial ability test. The test instrument consisted of five questions developed based on the spatial ability framework offered by Maier and validated by mathematics and learning evaluation experts. A total of 34 ninth-grade students from a junior high school in Tangerang Regency were selected through purposive sampling. The analysis results showed that Visualization, Spatial Relation, and Spatial Perception were the main predictors that significantly differentiated the two groups. Visualization supports the ability to imagine geometric objects, Spatial Relation facilitates the understanding of relationships between objects, and Spatial Perception aids in recognizing the position and relationship of geometric elements. The resulting discriminant model had an eigenvalue of 13.967, indicating a strong discriminant power in separating student groups. Understanding these differentiating factors provides a foundation for designing effective learning strategies, such as the use of augmented reality (AR) applications and 3D modeling tools to enhance students’ comprehension of spatial figures. Furthermore, interventions using physical or virtual manipulatives can be tailored to students’ needs, assisting them in mastering the concept of flat-sided geometric shapes.

Abstract

Program Kampus  Mengajar merupakan  bagian dari kebijakan Merdeka Belajar Kampus  Merdeka(MBKM) dari Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset dan Teknologi. (Kemendikbudristek). Program  ini  menghadirkan mahasiswa dari  seluruh  program  studi  di perguruan  tinggi  untuk  berkontribusi  dalam  rangka penguatan literasi dan numerasi.  Kabupaten Tangerang adalah salah satu daerah penempatan mahasiswa program Kampus Mengajar. Tujuan dari  penelitian  yang  dilakukan  adalah melihat bagaimana implementasi program Kampus Mengajar, selain itu melihat bagaimana capaian literasi  numerasi  siswa  di salah satu sekolah dasar di Kabupaten  Tangerang. Metode penelitian yang  digunakan  adalah  deskriptif  kuantitatif dengan uji paired sample t-test dengan  peneliti  bertindak  sebagai  observer.  Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa siswa tertarik dengan pembelajaran  berbantukan media pembelajaran  dan  metode  pembelajaran  yang  dilakukan  secara  berkelompok  membuat  pembelajaran  sangat efektif  sehingga  perkembangan  keterampilan  dan  numerasi  terdapat  peningkatan  pada  kelompok  siswa  belum fasih membaca dan semakin baik pada kelompok siswa yang sudah fasih membaca.

Abstract

Siswa umumnya takut matematika karena dianggap sulit dipahami. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan prestasi matematika siswa kelas VIII SMP Al Fattah Tigaraksa 2022/2023 dengan menerapkan metode pembelajaran IMPROVE. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan desain siklus. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa metode IMPROVE dapat meningkatkan prestasi matematika siswa. Nilai ketuntasan klasikal untuk prestasi belajar matematika siswa untuk KD Keterampilan meningkat dari 48,3% pada kondisi awal menjadi 72,4% pada siklus 1 dan 89,6% pada siklus 2. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran kooperatif IMPROVE dapat meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan matematika.
