Abstract

Abstract. Motivation is one of success important determinants. Motivation is divided into two, they are intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. The purpose of this study was to determine the students’ motivation in choosing primary education study program (PGSD). This study was descriptive research in the form of a survey. It investigated the circumstances, conditions, and other factors whose results are presented in the form of a report. The population in this study were PGSD students of Ahmad Dahlan University, academic year 2013/2014 class A, B, C, D, E, F consisting of 245 students. This research used questionnaire sheets to gather data. The data was then analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results show that PGSD students vary in motivation. Intrinsic motivation that affects students joining PGSD varies from the desire to be elementary school teachers, civil servants, and private course owners. On the other hands, students also vary in terms of extrinsic motivation, for example, following the wishes of their parents, following PGSD trend, expecting high salaries, being not accepted in the previously desired study program, and joining friends. The results also show that the highest percentage of students’ intrinsic motivation in joining PGSD is because they do want to be primary school teachers, while in extrinsic motivation was because they follow the wishes of their parents. Key words: motivation, students, Primary Education Study Program

Abstract

Good mastery of integrated learning model is one of important competencies for primary school education students. Without good mastery, they will find it hard to design and do instruction in primary schools that involve a number of fields of study and themes. This study aims at investigating the needs of primary school education students in the course of integrated learning in Elementary school. This is a survey research which used questionnaire to collect the data. The population of this study were 318 primary school education students who took the course. It used proportionale stratified sampling with the number of samples as many as 178 students. The results indicate that the needs of students were related to course materials, including a variety of Elementary school students characteristics, types or models, procedures, and assessment in integrated learning. It is expected that the teaching methods of integrated learning course use direct practice in Elementary school. while the evaluation system is in written form and practice.

Abstract

This qualitative study explores the experiences and perspectives of teachers in implementing the Kurikulum Merdeka, an independent curriculum movement in Indonesia. The study aims to understand how teachers navigate the challenges associated with the implementation process while preserving their professional identity. This research will employ a hermeneutic phenomenological approach which involves transcription, thematic analysis, and interpretation and meaning-making. The approach will provide a robust framework for exploring teachers’ lived experiences in relation to the implementation of the curriculum. The methodology involved in-depth interviews with the teachers who have been actively involved in the implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka in their schools. The findings show the dynamic and dialogic responses of teachers to educational reforms like Kurikulum Merdeka. It applies Bakhtin's theory of dialogism to uncover themes and sub-themes in teachers' narratives. These themes include the adaptation of teaching roles and conflicts stemming from traditional training versus new approaches. Social interactions and support from colleagues, as well as changes in the student-teacher dynamic, are vital aspects. Challenges like letting go of control and finding a balance in guiding students are discussed, along with strategies for navigating these challenges. The discussion emphasizes the evolution of professional identity as a result of ongoing dialogues in response to educational changes.

Abstract

Reading is a foundational skill that students must master from the early stages of primary education. However, observations at SDN (Public Primary School) 22 Sulur Medan revealed that many first-grade students struggle with reading fluency and often confuse alphabet letters. To address this issue, this study aimed to develop Augmented Reality (AR)-based flashcards as an innovative learning tool to support beginner reading instruction. The research objectives include assessing the reading abilities of first-grade students at SDN 22 Sulur Medan, designing the AR-based flashcard media, and evaluating its feasibility. This study employed the ADDIE development model within the framework of research and development methodology. Data collection techniques included observations, expert validations (content, pedagogy, and media), as well as feedback from student and teacher questionnaires. The findings demonstrated high feasibility ratings for the AR-based flashcards: 88% for content validation, 83% for pedagogical validation, 91% for media validation, 95% for student responses, and 95% for teacher responses, resulting in an overall score of 90% in the "Very Feasible" category. These results indicate that the AR-based flashcards are an effective tool for enhancing reading skills in first-grade students and offer a promising alternative for early literacy education.

Abstract

The current problem is that many prospective teachers have not been able to complete their studies at university. This is due to obstacles from within themselves or from the surrounding environment. This study analyzes self-efficacy, anxiety, self-persistence, and the relationship between self-efficacy and anxiety levels toward students' self-persistence in science learning. The research explores how self-efficacy and anxiety levels affect students' self-persistence to complete learning in all science courses to produce professional graduates. The study uses a quantitative approach, using the ex post facto method. The data collection technique uses a rating scale. The Likert scale of 56 valid statements successfully collected data on self-efficacy, anxiety levels, and self-persistence from 177 PGSD students. The data analysis technique in this study uses descriptive statistics followed by multiple linear regression to test the relationship between variables. The descriptive statistical analysis results show that students' self-efficacy and self-persistence in science learning are in the moderate category. Self-efficacy and anxiety levels towards students' self-persistence have a positive relationship. Furthermore, independent and dependent variables influence each other simultaneously and together. The percentage of relationships between variables is 91.2%, while other unknown factors influence the remaining 8.8%. The researcher recommends further study of other factors that may influence students' self-persistence in science learning.
