Abstract

ABSTRACT Hexavalent chrom (Cr(VI)) is recognized as toxic heavy metal, produced from textile printing manufacture. Negatif effect  of Cr(VI) shuold be reduced towards biotic environtment, so it is important to reduce Cr(VI) become Cr(III) which little hazard. Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Pseudomonas putida, Klebsiella pneumonia, Pantoea sp and Saccharomyces cerevisieae. They are including as resistent Cr(VI) microorganism and they have ability to reduce Cr(VI). The aim of the research is to know the ability of microorganism in reducing Cr(VI) and knowing protein band pattern between Cr(VI) resistent microorganism and microorganism which is inoculated on LB broth without Cr(VI).  Electrophoresis SDS-PAGE is the methode which is used to indentified protein expression. While, for knowing concentration Cr(VI) in liquid medium is used by 1,5 difenilkarbazid methode. The quantitative data is obtained being analyzed by ANAVA two factorial continued with Duncan test at 1% level test. The qualitative data include protein expression analyzed by Relative mobility (Rf) and for knowing molecular weight of protein is used protein marker. The qualitative data had been analyzed by descriptive qualitative methode. The result of the research shows that  in Cr(VI) concentration after being treat by the microorganisms at the initial concentration 0, 5ppm, 1 ppm, 5 ppm and 10 ppm and compared  the reduce Cr(VI) capability from the average procentage data each microorganism are: P. putida (65%) > S. cerevisieae (64,45%) > P. aeruginosa (60,73%) > Pantoea sp (50,22%) > K. pneumonia (47,82%) > without microorganism (34,25%). The adding microorganisms have influence toward reduction of Cr(VI). Key word: Cr heavy metal, microorganism, protein, electrophoresis

Abstract

Streptococcus viridans is one of the bacteria that can cause Community-Acquired Pneumonia (CAP). CAP disease has a higher prevalence of non-alcohol-related fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Continuous increase in fat levels in the liver triggered by pneumonia can cause inflammation in the liver, it causes a rapid decline in liver function and results in increased levels of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and total bilirubin. The use of hepatoprotectors in conditions of impaired liver function is essential to improve liver cell regeneration and promote liver detoxification. One of the drugs and supplements that can act as a hepatoprotector is ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) and Curcuma. Here we report the use of hepatoprotector drugs in cases of Community-Acquired Pneumonia (CAP) disease due to Streptococcus viridans bacteria in patients without comorbidities with the results of liver function test examinations from the beginning of hospital admission, during treatment, until the patient is discharged. The purpose of our case report is to illustrate the effect of the combined use of UDCA and Curcuma drugs on liver injury due to Streptococcus viridans bacterial infection in order to prevent complications, morbidity, mortality and improve the quality of life of patients. Based on the case reports that we present, the combined use of UDCA and Curcuma drugs as hepatoprotectors can improve liver function with reduced parameters of AST, ALT, and total bilirubin levels.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are important for students in learning and real life to face the increasingly complex challenges of the 21st century, including those related to viruses. This study aims to analyze students' critical thinking skills on the material of viruses and their roles. This research is a quantitative descriptive research. The research subjects were 70 students from two grade X classes at a Karanganyar, Central Java school, comprising 35 students. The data collection method is done through a written test. The research instrument in the form of essay questions consists of 6 questions based on aspects of critical thinking skills. The data analysis technique used Rasch analysis through the Winsteps 3.73 program. The results of the study show that there are still many students who are unable to answer critical thinking skills questions as seen based on the Wright Map and the comparison of mean logit person (-0.77) < mean logit item (0.00) in the Winsteps output. In conclusion, students' critical thinking skills on virus material are still low. Therefore, further research is needed to improve students' critical thinking skills. Abstract

The characteristics of the independent curriculum include the implementation of project-based learning and local content, but there are still some teachers who have difficulty implementing project-based learning with local content. This study aims to determine the need for a project-based virus enrichment module with a local issue context as additional learning media for students. This study uses quantitative and qualitative descriptive methods with the research subjects being 35 grade X students and one biology teacher. Data collection techniques through questionnaires and interviews. The questionnaire was filled out by a biology teacher and 35 grade X students. Interviews were conducted with a biology educator and four students. Data analysis techniques by describing research data in the form of percentages and opinion descriptions. The results of the needs analysis show that the virus material is considered difficult because it is abstract, learning still uses textbooks and has never been project-based, while students enjoy learning that makes them do activities in a fun way and produce work. They felt the need for additional learning resources besides textbooks, especially virus development material. Therefore, learning media in the form of project-based enrichment modules on viruses in plants needs to be developed to meet the demands of the independent curriculum and improve students' 4C skills in facing the challenges of the 21st century.
