Abstract

This study aims to examine the upakara, namely banten panjang ilang used in ngaben ceremony in the city of Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara. This research is focused on three important aspects related to the use of banten panjang ilang in the implementation of ngaben ceremony in the city of Mataram, namely the form, function, and meaning of upakara means. This research is designed in the form of qualitative descriptive. With regard to it, the data presented in the form of qualitative data and supported by data in the form of numbers. The result of the research shows that the means of upakara banten panjang ilang which until now its existence is still used as the complementary ceremony of pitra yadnya (ceremony of the dead) at Hindu society in Mataram City. The banten panjang ilang form consists of several ornaments that have similarities between one location and another. In this case the values of beauty are seen as expressions of the art soul that makes them. The banten panjang ilang function essentially serves as an adulteration that is shown to the bhuta kala when it inhibits the Atma's journey. The symbolic meaning of the banten panjang ilang as the gift of the Atma to the catur sanak in order to accelerate the process of traveling to meet both parents. Banten panjang ilang as an offering to Supranatual forces of the guard in the noetic realms, namely Sang Suratma and his helpers. at the time of cleaning when the delivery is placed on delivery banten. Banten panjang ilang used at the time of cleaning at the “pengiriman” ceremony. Banten panjang ilang as a moral and cultural guidance of Hindu that emphasizes decency as an ancestral heritage in the past.

Abstract

This paper is the result of research that aims to study the appreciation of the concept of divinity in Hindu societies in Lombok. This research was designed in a qualitative descriptive study to reveal the dimension of appreciation of the concept of divinity in Hinduism in Lombok. Based on the results of this study it was found that the implementation of religion in the midst of the life of the Hindu community in Lombok has similarities with the implementation of Hindu religion in Bali. The similarity is caused by several factors. First, Hindu societies in Lombok are migrants, most of whom migrated to Lombok after the Karangasem Kingdom arranged for social, cultural and religious life around the 16th century when there was an expansion of power to Lombok. Second, the reference sources used as guidelines for implementing religion by the Balinese in Lombok are almost the same as the reference sources used by their ancestors in Bali. Third, there is a policy from the royal government to implement a system in the form of a pasuara that is related to the implementation of Hinduism in Balinese communities in Lombok. Fourth, other factors that support, especially those related to the cultural adaptation of Balinese people with their new settlements in Lombok. The implementation of Hinduism in Lombok which uses the identity of the mention of the divine aspect with local dimensions is not released by the existence of divine concepts in the belief system of the Hindu community in Bali. With regard to that the existence of a divine identity that is not found in reference to the Vedic scriptures is a local wisdom that is used to appreciate the aspect of divinity so that the relationship between local Hindus and supernatural powers is closer. This is also based on the teachings conveyed by the Siwatattwa teaching that teach the dimension of divinity by giving a term that is very familiar with the life of the people of the archipelago. There is no belief in the aspect of divinity called local identity in relation to this matter in the scriptures. Vedas are not a mistake, but a truth that grows within Hindus on the basis of their respective beliefs. In line with that, it should not be a matter of difference in the mention of the name of God because of the nature of God that the versatile Brahman has many names according to the way Hindus live it. The most important thing in this context is that the implementation of Hinduism as implemented by the Balinese people in Lombok has essentially carried out the teachings of the Vedic scriptures that have been internally integrated with local culture.

Abstract

This study focuses on the study of religious ethics in the lontar text of Sila Kramaning Aguron-guron in building a pattern of interaction between teachers and students (sisya) according to Hindu teachings. The method used is an interpretive qualitative method using a content analysis pattern. This study focuses on the description of the teachings of religious ethics contained in the lontar Sila Kramaning Aguron-guron on sheet 1b and analyzes the aspects of the teachings related to building patterns of interaction between teachers and students (sisya). This study formulated three results in accordance with those formulated in the research focus. First, the description of the lontar is more focused on the aspect of religious ethics that must be adhered to and obeyed by the student (sisya) in improving spiritual quality in order to achieve the goal of life in accordance with what is taught in the teachings of Hinduism. Second, the essential values ​​contained in the lontar Sila Kramaning Aguron-guron are related to building patterns of interaction between teachers and students in everyday life. In essence, the teachings taught in the lontar text must be used as guidelines by Hindus who want to improve the quality of spiritual life in achieving eternal freedom.

Abstract

Dalam mewujudkan rasa bhakti memuja kebesaran Tuhan, masyarakat di Desa Adat Kulub Kecamatan Tampaksiring, Kabupaten Gianyar, melakukan upacara pitra yadnya yang dimana di dalamnya terdapat rangkaian pelengkap upacara yang disebut dengan Palakiwa. Upacara ini diyakini sebagai salah satu wujud rasa bhakti serta pengorbanan suci yang ditunjukan kepada para leluhur sehingga para pertisentana kelak mendapatkan kebahagian serta dianggap tuntas membayar hutang kepada leluhur. Berdasarkan fenomena yang terdapat pada pelaksanaan upacara Pitra yadnya tersebut, sangat penting dilakukan suatu penelitian dengan judul “Penggunaan Palakiwa Dalam Upacara Ngaben Di Desa Adat Kulub Kecamatan Tampaksiring Kabupaten Gianyar (Kajian Filsafat)”. Dalam penelitian ini mengangkat tiga permasalahan pokok yaitu : (1) Bagaimana proses penggunaan Palakiwa dalam upacara ngaben di Desa Adat Kulub, Kecamatan Tampaksiring, Kabupaten Gianyar ?, (2) Apa fungsi penggunaan Palakiwa dalam upacara ngaben di desa Adat Kulub Kecamatan Tampaksiring Kabupaten Gianyar ?, (3) Simbol apa yang terkandung dalam penggunaan Palakiwa pada saat upacara ngaben di Desa Adat Kulub, Kecamatan Tampaksiring, Kabupaten Gianyar?. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui proses penggunaan Palakiwa tersebut, kemudian untuk mengetahui fungsi dari penggunaan Palakiwa serta untuk mengetahui simbol makna apa yang terkandung di dalam pelaksanaan Palakiwa dalam upacara ngaben yang dilaksanakan oleh masyarakat di Desa Adat Kulub, Kecamatan Tampaksiring, Kabupaten Gianyar. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskritif kualitatif yang dibantu dengan tiga jumlah teori yang meliputi: Teori religi, teori fungsional struktural, dan teori simbol. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan meliputi observasi, wawancara, serta studi kepustakaan. Data yang telah dikumpulkan kemudian dianalisis menggunakan metode interpretative deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan (1) proses penggunaan Palakiwa merupakan salah satu rangkaian dari upacara ngaben yang sebagai salah satu cara untuk menghaturkan rasa bhakti terhadap leluhur. (2) Fungsi yang terdapat dalam penggunaan Palakiwa adalah fungsi religi, fungsi sosial, fungsi kemakmuran, keharmonisan dan keseimbangan. (3) makna yang terkandung dalam penggunaan Palakiwa yang dilakukan ialah makna estetika dan filsafat (tattwa).
