Abstract

Common wood that used as a building material perceived increasingly difficult to obtain now. Therefore the need for efforts to overcome this condition partly by utilizing low quality wood (IV-V) like Mahang (Macaranga hypoleuca (Reichb.f.et Zoll.) M.A) in which quality can be improved by densification. There are two factors that have conducted in this research, first is steam time (40 minutes, 60 minutes and 80 minutes) and second one is temperature felts (160oC, 180oC and 200oC). Samples was made from Mahang beam with dimension is 30 cm (L) x 8 cm (W) x 4 cm (H), steamed in autoclave with temperature 120oC and hot pressed with a 30% target thicknes, the pressure felt 60 kg/cm2. Physical and mechanical process was conducted based on British Standard Methods No.373 (1957). The measured parameters are physical properties (moisture content, density and dimensional changes) and mechanical properties (MOE, MOR and MCS). Experimental designed that use in this research is 3x3 Factorial Experimental Design in a Completely Randomized Design with 3 replications. As the results of the research show that densification Mahang wood was improve the physical and mechanical properties. This research also showed that best densified treatment is 60 minute steamed with temperature felt 180oC. Keywords :      Macaranga hypoleuca (Reichb.f.et Zoll.) Abstract

Demand for wood has increased, while timber production decreased, in particular high quality wood. Therefore necessary the technology to improve low quality wood (III-V) such as Jelutung (Dyera Costulata Hook. F.) using with densification wood. There are two treatments used in this research, namely temperature press (1600 C, 1700 C and 1800 C) and pressing time (50 minutes, 60  minutes and 70 minutes). Sampleswere made of Jelutung wood with size30 cm (L) x 8 cm (W) x 4 cm (H).It steamed at 1200 C and hot pressed with a 30% target thicknes.Physical(color and impression of rabbah, water content, density and dimensional changes) and mechanical (MOE, MOR and  MCS) properties testing refers to British Standard Methods No.373 (1957). Results of research have shown that densification can improve the physical and mechanical properties of Jelutung wood. This research also pointed out that the treatment temperature press 1800 C and pressing time 70 minutes was the best treatment. Abstract

Kelampuk village at Land Pinoh West Sub District Melawi District people have traditionally used medicinal plants that are nearby to treat various diseases. The aim of this study was to determine the types of medicinal plants and their use by communities around the Kelampuk village Land Pinoh West sub district Melawi District This study using snowball sampling techniques or performed in sequence to ask for information on people who have been interviewed or contacted in advance. Results of research concluded that the most widely type of plant commonly used are 51 species from 41 family. The level of habitus are 24 herbaceous species. While based part in use, then mostly the leaves as many as 31 species. Then, by way of processing by way of ground as many as 23 species, and if viewed the use of that method taped as many as 24 species. While based on the use to treat diseases of the outside there are 32 species, and based on the form of a single herb potion then there are 51 species. Abstract

The increasing demand for wood every years is not balanced with the availability of raw materials in nature, especially high-quality wood. Hence the need for an effort to partially overcome this condition by using low quality wood (III-IV) such as Gerunggang wood (Cratoxylon arborescen Bl). Samples were made of Gerunggang wood with size of 30 cm x 8 cm  x 4 cm with a target of 30% reduction in thickness. Physical and mechanical properties testing refers to the British Standard Methods 373 (1957). Parameters measured were color and touch impression, water content, density, dimensional changes, MOE, MOR and MCS). This research used  factorial experiment in a random design complete with  2 factors. Factor A steaming time (50 minutes, 60 minutes and 70 minutes) and factor B pressing time (40 minutes, 60 minutes and 80 minutes) each made 3 times repeats. The results showed Gerunggang wood was densification by steaming and pressing time produce physical and mechanical properties better. The best treatment in this research were at the steaming time treatment 60 minutes and 80 minutes pressing time. Keywords :  Cratoxylon arborescen Bl, densification, physical and mechanical.

Abstract

The study aims to determine the influence of coating and composition of raw materials to physical and mechanical properties of composite board from singkong trunk and plastic waste and to know the best treatment. Composite board size was 30 cm x 30 cm x 1 cm. The plastic waste function as an adhesive and mix in three layer of composite board. The face and back layer consist of 15% and  in the core consist of 70% with a target density of 0,7 g/cm3. This study used factorial experiment in a random design complete with 2 factors. The factor consist of factor coating which consists of 2 subfaktor (coating with veneer and without veneer) and factor composition (singkong trunk: plastic waste) which consists of 3 subfaktor 40:60, 50:50, and 60:40. The pressure was done with hot press temperature 180 ºC for 10 minute with pessure ± 25 kg/cm². Evaluation the quality of physical and mechanical properties to standard JIS A 5908-2003. The result of research showed that all the composite board can fulfill the standard JIS A 5908-2003, except on MOE value of the composite  board of coating with without veneer. The best value of composite board was achieved on composition 60% singkong  trunk and 40% plastic waste with, coating veneer.
