Abstract

Background: Rhodamine B is a synthetic substance which is generally used as a dye in paper, textile or ink which causes respiratory irritation and when used can cause cancer and liver damage in the body. The use of Rhodamine B for a long time will cause acute danger if swallowed and cause vomiting which causes irritation of the digestive tract and causes symptoms of poisoning. The purpose of this study was to determine the presence of lipstick containing Rhodamine B. The testing method carried out used for qualitative testing is Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and quantitative testing using UV-VIS Spectrophotometry. The results of the lipstick sample were qualitatively proven to contain rhodamine B with a mobile phase and a stationary phase of 70% ethanol: ammonia: ethyl acetate (5:2,5:12,5) and silica gel 254 nm. With an RF value of 0.57. In quantitative testing, rhodamine B levels were found to be 2.598 mg/L. Conclusion lipsticks circulating in the East Banjarmasin sub-district are proven to contain rhodamine B.

Abstract

Daun Sungkai (Peronema canescens Jack) merupakan salah satu tanaman herbal yang terdapat di Indonesia. Secara empiris tanaman daun sungkai dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat sebagai mengobati sakit gigi dan penurun demam. Selain itu, juga digunakan untuk mengobati malaria. Metabolit sekunder yang paling banyak diketahui pada tumbuhan adalah flavonoid. Flavonoid merupakan senyawa metabolit sekunder yang berfungsi sebagai penurun demam (antipiretik), pereda nyeri (analgetik), dan antiinflamasi. Faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi ekstraksi salah satunya ukuran partikel. Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk Mengidentifikasi kadar flavonoid ekstrak daun sungkai (Peronema canescens Jack) berdasarkan variasi ukuran partikel mesh 40 dan 80. Pada Penelitian Ini menggunakan Metode deskriptif observasional hanya mendeskripsi penetapan kadar flavonoid ekstrak daun sungkai (Peronema canescens Jack) berdasarkan variasi ukuran partikel mesh 40 dan 80. Hasil analisis kualitatif senyawa flavonoid dengan reaksi warna hijau kehitaman menunjukkan positif mengandung senyawa flavonoid. Hasil analisis kuantitatif menunjukkan bahwa kadar flavonoid pada ekstrak daun sungkai dengan ukuran partikel mesh 40 didapatkan sebesar 3,636 mg QE/g dan pada ukuran partikel mesh 80 didapatkan sebesar 4,090 mg QE/g. kadar flavonoid tertinggi yaitu pada ukuran partikel mesh 80. dapat disimpulkan hasil penetapan kadar flavonoid dari daun sungkai (Peronema canescens Jack) dengan sampel ukuran partikel mesh 80 yaitu lebih tinggi sebesar 4,090 mg QE/g dibandingkan ukuran partikel 40 sebesar 3,636 mg QE/g.
