Abstract

AbstrakRumput gajah (Pennisetum purpureum Schumach.) memiliki kadar protein kasar 6,26%. Ternak ruminansia membutuhkan protein kasar 10–15%. Abstract Elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum Schumach.) had crude protein 6.26%. Ruminant animals need 10–15% crude protein. An alternative way to increase the crude protein with induction by used gamma-ray irradiation. The purpose of this research were to determine the highest crude protein content and characterize accessions resulting from gamma irradiation for the selection process. The experimental design used a random block design. The first factor, gamma irradiation with level dose 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 Gy. The second factor, upper node, middle node, and lower node. The result were the highest crude protein occurred in the middle node with a dosage of 50 Gy with a value of 17.21% and a percentage increase 12.19%. The significant result occurred in agronomic characters of total of shoots in the second generation. The highest increase of crude protein occurred on the middle node dose of 50 Gy. Interaction of the upper node dose of 10 Gy was able to obtain the most shoots in the second generation. The increase in crude protein content and agronomic character of elephant grass was not stable because it was included in the early generation. The results of this research can be used as further research to obtain elephant grass with stable high crude protein content and stable elephant grass agronomic characters.

Abstract

Perlakuan POC 10 mL/L memiliki rata-rata parameter pertumbuhan dan produksi lebih tinggi dari yang lainnya, sehingga berpotensi meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman kale pada sistem hidroponik DFT.AbstractKale is a horticultural plant that is rich in antioxidants, carotenoids and anthocyanins. Kale can be cultivated hydroponically using AB mix as fertilizer, but the nutrients often settle at the bottom of the tub and are difficult for the roots to absorb. The addition of Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC) which is sprayed through the leaves is expected to provide additional nutrition for plants. This research aims to analyze the growth and production response of kale plants to the addition of POC in the Deep Flow Technique (DFT) hydroponic system. The study used a randomized block design with 5 treatments, namely POC doses (0; 10; 20; 30; and 40 mL/L). POC is sprayed on the leaves every week from day 0 to 35 days after planting. Data analysis used analysis of variance (ANOVA) and further DMRT test at the 5% level. The addition of POC has a significant effect on the growth of kale plants (P <0.05), namely POC concentration of 10 mL/L can increase plant root length (41.25 cm) and has no significant effect on other parameters such as plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter. , wet and dry weight of the plant and weight suitable for consumption. However, kale plants sprayed with POC had an average value of all parameters higher than the control (0 mL/L). The 10 mL/L POC treatment has higher average growth and production parameters than the others, so it has the potential to increase the growth and production of kale plants in the DFT hydroponic system.

Abstract

The community of Legok Raina Village in Bogor Regency, West Java, continues to rely on medicinal plants for daily healthcare practices. This study aimed to inventory and identify medicinal plant species and document the plant parts used, preparation methods, therapeutic functions, and ailments treated, as no previous research has been conducted in this area. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with one traditional healer (tabib), two traditional birth attendants (paraji), and 27 general respondents selected by community leaders, complemented by plant specimen collection, observation, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the Use Value (UV) index to determine the relative importance of each species. A total of 104 species belonging to 93 genera and 46 families were recorded, with Zingiberaceae as the most dominant family, comprising 12 species from 8 genera. Shrubs represented the most common growth form (39 species), and leaves were the most frequently utilized plant part. Ageratum conyzoides showed the highest UV (1.760), whereas Lactuca sativa, Piper sarmentosum, and Kadsura scandens had the lowest (0.003). Approximately 60% of respondents continue to preserve ancestral knowledge and actively participate in conservation efforts. These findings highlight the cultural and therapeutic significance of traditional medicinal plants in the study area.
