Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the driving factors for the acceptance process of the Lombok Muslim community towards the da'wah of the Tablighi Jamaat. This is based on the reality of da'wah, which shows a movement against the activism of transnational da'wah movements. The research was conducted through a qualitative approach—data collection techniques through participant observation, unstructured interviews, and documentation. Data analysis follows the stages of the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana interactive model. The study's results stated that the acceptance of the Lombok Muslim community towards the Tablighi Jamaat was due to the good social interaction between the Tablighi Jamaat community and the Lombok Muslim community. Including strengthening teachings, namely the importance of reviving the sunnah of the prophet, conveying greetings, the essence of brotherhood, the urgency of praying in congregation, and turning on the knowledge assembly. The da'wah approach is carried out through distance or friendship and the attitude of glorifying others (Ikram). The communication used is empathic and persuasive. The implication of the research shows that all levels of society can reasonably respond to da'wah politely and with a noble purpose. In addition, at a particular stage, the mindset and behavior of the community can be formed in carrying out Amar makruf nahi munkar.

Abstract

Tablighi Jama’at is a da‘wah movement that seeks to invite Muslims to return to the pure practice of Islam, with the primary goal being to awaken the spiritual spirit in every Muslim, personally and collectively. Since its presence on the Indian mainland a few decades ago, the Tablighi Jama’at has become the world’s most influential global da‘wah movement. Indonesia, the largest Muslim-majority country in the world, is one of the bases of this movement. This article examines how the Tablighi Jama’at wins huge and loyal followers among the Muslim community in Indonesia. This study focus on revealing a character-building model carried out by the movement in Lombok Island, Indonesia, through one of its essential activities called khurūj fī sabīl Allāh. The author has conducted field research and collected data through participant observation, interviews, and documentation. This study finds that the character-building model performed in khurūj consists of four components: literature or teaching materials, practices, a conducive environment, and evaluations through deliberation. This study argues that khurūj can change people’s character in a relatively short time.

Abstract

This article examines the effect of implementing Islamic Religious Education (PAI) academic supervision on the performance of PAI teachers in junior high schools (SMP). This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method in two junior high schools in Barito Kuala Regency, South Kalimantan Province. The research data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation and analyzed using the Kirkpatrick evaluation model. The results showed that PAI academic supervision in junior high schools is still not optimal because various factors, such as competence, motivation, work environment, and facilities, influence it. However, PAI academic supervision also positively impacts the performance of PAI teachers in junior high schools, such as improving the quality of learning, developing student potential, and job satisfaction. This article provides recommendations for PAI supervisors, principals, PAI teachers, and other relevant parties in improving PAI academic supervision in junior high schools, as well as a reference for future research related to the same or similar topics.
