Abstract

Forest in indonesia has a  potential of non-timber forest products. Non-Timber Forest Products (NTEP) are still less optimally utilized because forest management has been oriented to timber forest products. Rattan is one source of biodiversity in Indonesia and is the result of non-timber forest potential. In rural areas, rattan is used by the community as a woven material, ropes, etc. This study aims to determine the economic values of rattan used by the community, determine the species of rattan used by the community and determine the number of derivative products genered by the people in Suruh Tembawang village, Sanggau regency. This research used a descriptive method involving the community as respondents. The results showed that there are five species of rattan that ordinary people use for woven materials such as Arit Rattan,  Saga Rattan, Manau Rattan, Udang Rattan and Semut Rattan. The products are usually sold at a price of for bidai weaving,  for penyakin weaking and for bakul weaking.

Abstract

The chemical properties of wood flowering (Lithocarpus elegans) and lime leather (Memecylon garcinioides) based on wood species, the chemical properties of wood for the extractive content of alcohol soluble benzene lime leather is higher than that of the flower wood with a mean rate of 2, 7111%; 2.5343%. While the lignin level of wood flower kecing is higher than the lime leather with the average value of 16.6030%; 16,4189% and leather holocellulose content of leaf wood was higher compared to wood flower with average value of 86,8927%; 83.4929%. Based on the height of the stem for the extractive substance of alcohol-soluble benzene, the highest average was in the center of 2.9812%, and the lowest at the end of 2.3525%. For lignin content the highest average value is at the tip of 17,5200%, and the lowest at the center of 15.8084%. While for the highest holocellulose value is at the base of 87.0459%, and the lowest at the center of 81.8711%.Keywords: Flowering Wood and Lime Leather, Wood Chemistry,

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the local people’s perception toward the existence of mangrove forest and to know the relationship from the factor of age, knowledge, cosmopolitan and income with the people’s perception of mangrove forest in Sungai Pinyuh Subdistrict, Mempawah District. This research used a survey method with interview technique. The respondents were sampled by purposive sampling. The number of sample was a hundred respondents. The respondensts were taken  from three subvillage that are Subvillage I, Subvillage II, and Subvillage III. The data were analyzed by associative descriptively and using chi kuadrad. The results of this research are : The existence of mangrove forest, with the value count = 57,25 > 0,05 = 5,591 shows that there is a high relationship the existence of mangrove forests. The age level with the value count = 2,98 < 0,05 = 9,488 shows that it is unacceptable or there is no relatiaonship the existence of mangrove forests. The knowledge level with the value count = 14,60 > 0,05 = 9,488, shows that it is acceptable or there is a relationship the existence of mangrove forests. For the cosmopolite level with the value count = 3,04 < 0,05 = 9,488, shows that it is unacceptable or there is no relationship the existence of mangrove forests. and the income know level with the value count = 3,93 < 0,05 = 9,488 shows that it is unacceptable or there is no relationship the existence of mangrove forests. Abstract

Bark laban in the Village Lape used by Dayak Pangkodan since the first generation to generation as a drink tea. This researches aims to determine the type laban that utilized by local people Dayak Pangkodan in the village Lape and to identify utilization bark laban. This research is also to determine the physic-chemical properties of young bark laban and old bark laban which are water content, extract content , viscosity, pH, saponins, flavonoids and tannins. The results of this research indicate that the type of species laban that used are Vitex pubescens Vahl. Ethnobotany study by the respondents who is the Dayak Pangkodan in the village Lape use bark laban as a drink tea generally at the time of farming activities, tea of bark laban more widely known use by parents, bark laban than as a nutritious drink tea for stomach ache. The results of physic-chemical indicate that the water content of the wet weight of old bark laban and young bark laban have differences, content old bark laban 21.18 % and 16.36 % for young bark laban. Level of young bark extract laban have a higher value than the old bark laban , old bark laban 0.48% and for young bark laban 0.58 % laban young . The viscosity of the old bark laban (2.04 Cps) and for young bark laban (2 Cps) showed no significant. The results of pH old bark laban 5.2 and young bark laban 5.4. Bark laban (Vitex pubescens Vahl ) have content of saponins, tannins and flavonoids. Keywords: Vitex pubescens Vahl, bark, ethnobotany, physico chemica

Abstract

The study aims to determine the effective chemicals to produce activated charcoal waste which meets the Indonesian National Standard ISO - 06-3730-1995. The method used in this research is completely randomized design (CRD) with one factor, which consists of 4 treatments with 3 replicates. The treatment used in this study are chemicals consisting of 1% NaOH, KOH 25%, H3PO4 10% and 36% HCL. The results showed that the value of the physical characteristics of the waste activated carbon for water content ranged between 11-18%, the value of the chemical characteristics of the waste activated charcoal for substance evaporates levels ranged from 16.82 to 25.98%, ash content values ranged from 1.25 to 3.45%, and the value of bound carbon content ranging from 71.7 to 81.75%. Value characteristic absorption of iodine ranged from 1186.9 to 1211.9 mg / g. The results showed that the chemical treatment did not significantly affect the value of water content, levels of substance evaporates, bound carbon content and absorption of iodine and very significant effect on the value of ash. The mean scores for the test analysis of the characteristics of waste activated charcoal produced to meet the standard ISO - 06-3730-1995. The results showed that chemicals with activator H3PO4 obtain quality best waste activated charcoal. Keyword: Active charcoal, reactivation, waste water depot

Abstract

Knowledge of the nature and chemical composition of a type of wood makes the utilization of such wood as industrial cultivators such as pulp and paper, rayon, fiberboard, cement board, wood durability and others can be considered. A type of wood can be recommended as a raw material, it is necessary to introduce the wood in order that the processing, utilization, and treatment can be appropriate and efficient. The aim of this research is to know the chemical variation of sengon wood (Albizia falcataria (L.) Fosberg) based on height of stem (base, middle, and tip) which include extractive, holocellulose, alpha cellulose, and lignin. The chemical research of Albizia falcataria (L.) Fosberg wood was done by sampling of Ambawang River area, Kubu Raya District. The test was conducted in the laboratory of Forest Product Technology Faculty of Forestry, Tanjungpura University, Pontianak using ASTM standard. The purpose of this research is to know chemical component of Albizia falcataria (L.) Fosberg wood. Wood chemical components observed include percentage of moisture content, holocellulose, cellulose, lignin, and extractive (alcohol benzene) at the height position of the stem. The results showed that the moisture content of this wood is 13.5389 %, holocellulose 77.84616 % Of Alpha cellulose 64.29624 % (including high category), hemicellulose 13.54992 %, lignin 21.10961% (including moderate percentage), and extractive substances (alcohol benzene) are 3.226568 % (including moderate percentage). Keywords: Albizia falcataria (L.)
