Abstract

AbstractBeing professional teacher is a process of acting and reflecting continuously developed by the teachers collaboratively. Lesson Study facilitates teacher to experience learning through collaborative work among them. This enables teachers to establish professional development and create a community for learning. This paper aims at elaborating the experience of senior high school at Yogyakarta in implementing Lesson study as a break-through to enhance the teachers’ professional development incorporating with three mechanisms of Lesson Study. This school has conducted Lesson Study for about 5 years. The study resulted that 80 percent of teachers achieve their competence in planning, doing and reflecting the lesson through observing other teachers performance and being observed interchangeably.

Abstract

The writer digests that learning foreign language is a hard effort without considering the mind participation. Text of Metaphor is something that fits right to the process of first language acquisition which makes use mind power and sometime emotionally involved. Metaphor is not only linguistic but also conceptual phenomenon. Word in language is valuable thing and dynamic which is culturally rich of meaning. When People say to their children about life “life is ocean”, it implies the work of mind, emotion, experience about culture and the sense of aesthetic.So, metaphor is something possible for any reason, particularly for learning foreign language. Metaphor can be a bridge to facilitate the abstract concept by the more concrete concept. Metaphor in literature is such embedded feature which makes sense every single word. In short, Metaphor cultivates language as the most valuable tools in conveying ideas. Moreover, understanding theory of metaphor is the fundamental aspect to lead understanding of language learning.In conclusion, metaphor in English language teaching gives opportunity for learners to optimize their strength. Metaphor is effective for learning language. Metaphor also makes learners focus on the form of language. Furthermore, metaphor helps learners to handle linguistic creativity

Abstract

As one of Indonesian original literary works, Syair needs to be introduced and taught proportionally. Unfortunately, in the implementation of teaching, syair still meets some constrains, including (1) Indonesian language textbooks in junior high schools contain only a small amount of material on syair. (2) syair teaching is focused on cognitive competence, so it is not attractive. (3) syair teaching material only provides the definition, the elements, and limited examples. (4) there is no digital-based teaching material specifically for syair that is used as teaching material. (5) the teacher found difficulty providing examples on how to read syair according to the song or venom. Therefore, it is necessary to develop digital-based teaching materials in syair teaching. This research uses the Research Development method developed by Borg and Gall. The research stage that has been carried out in the development stage and the teaching materials' feasibility test. Based on the feasibility test results on the Syair application, it can be concluded that this application is feasible to be applied to Class VII SMP students. In addition, based on the validator's assessment, the limited trial and large class of this application in terms of material and learning is appropriate and feasible to use to meet students' needs in learning and mastering syair.Keywords: It consists of maximum five words/phrases typed in bold style.
