The purpose of the research was to explain and analyze the short story writing skills improvement grades X1 SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang in terms of characterization, plot, and setting. This type of research is a classroom action research that uses four stages in each cycle, including planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research was conducted in two cycles. The data was collected through two main instruments, namely test and nontes. The test is used to collect data capability to write short stories, while the form of sheets nontes observation, field notes, and questionnaires were used to collect the data in the application of learning techniques paraphrasing poetry writing short stories. Analyzing data in accordance with the descriptive-analytical application of the concept of action research. Results of this study showed that the results of the students wrote short stories on pre-cycle obtain an average value of 58.89, cycle 1 with an average value of 77.04, and in cycle 2 the average score was 91.11.. The results showed an increase of pre-cycle students write short stories until the cycle 2.

Language usage shows that language has important role and power in changing events. Kompas â a national daily newspaperâ has a unique language characteristic, particularly the one used in editorial. Research on critical discourse analysis of empowering text structure in editorial is crucial to be conducted. The purpose of this research is to explain the empowerment of thematic, schematic, syntactic, and stylistic structure of discourse in Kompas editorial. This is qualitative research of which object is editorial of Kompas and the data is the text structure of educational, health and environment, and social discourse. The data is collected by documentation technique and it is analyzed by content analysis. The findings show that (1) the thematic text structures show the subjectivity of the editorial. The elements of the structure supporting the topics show Kompasâs resolution to take care of poor society who need government help; (2) schematic text structures tend to show important point at the end of editorial; (3) syntactic text structures show that Kompas takes into account its various readers; (4) stylistic text structures criticizing the society problems tend to be neutral and acceptable.

This study aimed to describe two ways, as follows. (1) The portrayal of women  Minang in Kaba Cindua Mato and Novel Memang Jodoh. (2) Comparative Depiction Minang women in Kaba Cindua Mato and Novel Memang Jodoh  with Minangkabau traditional cultural values. This research was qualitative research with content analysis method. This research approach is a comparative literature with an interdisciplinary perspective. Results of this study are as follows. (1) Women Minang in kaba Mato Cindua shows Minang ancient depiction of women is synonymous with obedience to customs and understand his position as Minang women. In the novel Memang Jodoh, the portrayal of women Minang focuses on cases or unfair treatment because of the thought leaders in the community or certain customs should not lead to the referenced. (2) Comparison of Minang women in kaba Cindua Mato and novel Memang Jodoh with Minangakabau culture has provided some important notes that women Minang have some good clear position as a girl and had married.

This study aims to produce teaching materials in the form of textbooks in the Old Literature courses through analysis of the structure and meaning of ancient Minangkabau manuscripts. This research is a development research. The research and development model adapted from Borg & Gall. The research begins by conducting (1) preliminary studies to search for research findings related to the condition of old literary materials as developed products. (2) Develop a product based on research findings, that is analyzing the structure and meaning of ancient Minangkabau manuscripts. (3) Conduct field test of the product, which is the old literary material developed from structural analysis and the meaning of ancient manuscripts minangkabau. (4) Make revisions to correct weaknesses in the field test phase. The result of the research data is the percentage of the validity of the validation and responses obtained from the test of material experts, media experts, and individual testing by the students. The result of the textbook validation from the test subject can be concluded very feasible and very valid used in the old literature course.

 Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan stuktur teks tajuk rencana harian Kompas dan Media Indonesia tentang nasib TKI. Hal tersebut akan menguraikan tentang tiga hal sehubungan dengan kajian stuktur teks yang diungkapkan Van Dijk. Pertama, perbandingan tematik tajuk rencana harian Kompas dan Media Indonesia tentang nasib TKI. Kedua, perbandingan skematik tajuk rencana harian Kompas dan Media Indonesia tentang nasib TKI. Ketiga, perbandingan stilistik tajuk rencana haraian Kompas dan Media Indonesia tentang nasib TKI.Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskripstif untuk menjelaskan struktur teks tajuk rencana harian Kompas dan Media Indonesia berdasaran kategori analisis wacana Van Dijk. Pemaknaan tersebut dilakukan dengan memperhatian konteks yang melatarbelakanginya. Berdasarkan hasil pembahasan tentang perbandingan struktur teks tajuk rencana pada harian Kompas dan Media Indonesia dapat diungkapkan dengan menggunakan struktur tematik, skematik, dan stilistik sebagai teori Van Dijk. Penganalisisan wacana dapat memberikan kesimpulan bahwa bentuk sikap, langkah peletakan tulisan, serta pemilihan kata dalam sebuh wacana tidak dianggap sebagai suatu kesimpulan Kata Kunci: Tajuk rencana, Nasib TKI, Kompas, Media Indonesia

Puisi sebagai salah satu jenis karya sastra merupakan karya ekspresif wujud penyampai segala rasa. Secara pendokumentasian sejarah pun, puisi dapat menjadi salah satu wadah yang menyimpan catatan sejarah. Pemanfaatan tanda bahasayang digunakan dalam karya sastra merupakan bentuk performansi komunikasi yang digunakan pengarang untuk menyampaikan pesan tertentu. Penyampaian pesan tersebut dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan aspekstilistika sebagai wujud performansi kebahasaan. dalam Hal inilah yang menjadi menarik untuk selalu dikaji dan ditemukan catatan-catatan sejarah dari berbagai sastra masa lampau, salah satunya puisi di zaman Jepang.Indonesia menjadi sebuah negara yang berdaulat pun tidak bisa terlepas dari perkembangan sastra. Bahkan, sastra dapat mencatat dengan baik perjuangan bangsa serta sastra digunakan untuk alat perjuangan dalam meraih kemerdekaan. Zaman Jepang ditemukan dua kelompok sastrawan, yaitu sastrawan yang mendukung Jepang dan melawan Jepang. Bung Usman sebagai salah satu sastrawan yang melawan Jepang menggunakan puisi sebagai bentuk penolakan dan perlawan terhadap Jepang. Menganalisis gaya sastrawan secara indvidual dapat menemukan karakter bahasa sastrawan dan mencerminkan kondisi masyarakat di Zaman Jepang. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data dan pembahasan, Bung Usman memiliki gaya yang khas dalam penulisan puisi di zaman Jepang dengan gaya dominan lewat puisinya dan puisi Bung Usman pun menggambarkan kondisi masyarakat Indonesia yang kebingungan dan tidak tahu hendak melakukan apa sehingga membiarkan kesewenangan Jepang sekaligus menggambarkan keingan masyarakat melawan atau berjuang mendapatkan kemerdekaan Indonesia.

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui mendeksripsi pengaruh metode fernald terhadap kemampuan membaca peserta didik kelas IV pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di SD Negeri Golo Yogyakarta. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian Quasi Expreimental Design dengan desain yang digunakan adalah Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas IV SD Negeri Golo tahun ajaran 2018/2019 yang terdiri 2 kelas, yaitu kelas IV A dan kelas IV B dengan jumlah 53 peserta didik dengan Sampel kelas IVA dan kelas IVB memiliki kemampuan dalam aspek kognitif yang relatif sama. pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling, yaitu responden yang menjadi anggota sampel. Variabel penelitian ada 2 yaitu variabel independent (variabel bebas) dan variabel dependet (variabel terikat) . Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan instrument tes yang telah diuji validasi dan reabilitasnya, dan juga menggunakan dokumentasi dan Observasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan yang didahului dengan uji normalitas dan Homogenitas. Hasil ini yaitu terdapat Rhitung 0,711 lebih besar dari pada Rtabel dikatakan valid karena lebih nilai (0,444). Uji realibitas dari 23 pertanyaan lebih dari (0,6) contoh 0,952 berarti reabel bisa penelitian. Hal ini ditunjukkan untuk menentukan hipotesis yaitu Thitung > Ttabel menggunakan uji independent sampel test dengan nilai sig 0,200 data ini Normal karena data lebih dari 0,05 untuk kelas IVA dan IVB. Nilai sig.(2-tailed) 0,000 adanya pengaruh. Sehingga terdapat ada pengaruh tingkat kemampuan membaca pemahaman di SD Negeri Golo Yogyakarta. Kesimpulan metode Fernald dapat meningkatkan prestasti peserta didik kemampuan membaca pemahaman Bahasa Indonesia di kelas IV SD Negeri Golo Yogyakarta.Kata Kunci: Metode Fernald., Bahasa Indonesia, Kemampuan membaca Pemahaman, SD kelas IV.
