Abstract

Increasing land productivity, especially in the agricultural sector, are absolutely necessary at this time. One effort that can be done is by evaluating the characteristics of the land in order to obtain suitable information for the development of agricultural commodities in an area. The purpose of this study was to provide information on land characteristics and to analyze the level of land suitability for the development of food crop commodities (rice, corn, soybeans and cassava). The land characteristic parameters observed included climate, land morphology, soil physical and chemical properties. The results show that it is possible to develop food crops in Tanete Riaja District, even though only in the S2 and S3 categories. The slope factor is the main obstacle in the development of this commodity, so that crop management such as terracing and intercropping systems is an alternative cropping model that can be implemented. Low soil fertility and acidic soil pH are manageable factors that can be improved to increase soil quality.

Abstract

Direct seed planting tools or commonly abbreviated as ATABELA have been commonly used in rice cultivation in Indonesia. One of the problems that often occur in the use of this tool is the inconsistency in the number of seeds released. Besides, the seeds that are issued are usually more than three seeds, so that it can cause competition in the growth process. Therefore, it is necessary to develop direct seed planting tools with precise seed dosage. This study aims to design an applicator for planting rice seeds directly by dropping the seeds using vacuum pressure. Another goal is to know the pressure that can be generated as well as the forward speed required to produce the desired vacuum pressure. The first step in this research is to identify the pressure needed to move the seeds, then design a tool based on the pressure data. The test is carried out using a DC motor as a substitute for wheel rotation to determine the forward speed required to obtain the required pressure. The moisture content of the seeds used is 22.71% and the required pressure is 97 kPa (4 kPa under standard atmospheric pressure), the required forward speed is 2.5 m / s, so it is necessary to modify the ratio of the wheel pulley to the drive shaft.

Abstract

The need for corn has increased along with population growth. The increase in needs must of course be accompanied by an increase in corn production, one of which is by meeting the needs of plant nutrients during growth. In order to optimize plant growth, precision fertilization Need to be apply. However, the unavailability of precision fertilizer applicator for corn plants is an obstacle. This research is expected to be able to provide a precision rationing unit design for granular fertilizer in corn cultivation. The rationing unit is built using a 24 V 200 rpm DC motor and is controlled using an Arduino mega module. Allotment uses a rotor with a volume of 26.52 cm3 / rotation. Control using PID. The fertilizer used is NPK fertilizer. The test results show that the system can control fertilizer rationing with a 96% determination coefficient. And able to aplly NPK fertilizer up to 2 tons / ha.

Abstract

In smallholder cacao plantations, the protective crops used varied, so they have different effects on splash erosion. The management of land cover with a canopy of cacao and shade trees on cacao fields, aims to control of splash erosion. This study was conducted by directly measuring the magnitude of splash erosion under several levels of canopy cover. The magnitude of splash erosion was determined by measuring the depth of the eroded soil using the bottle cap method. The measurements were carried out every rain event (46 rain events with rainfall varied from 0.28 to 97.04 mm). The canopy cover level was determined by analyzing the images taken using a digital camera. The images were processed by Matlab software with closure approach. The data were analyzed by regression analysis to determine the relationship between canopy cover level and the depth of splash erosion that occurred. The results showed that the level of canopy cover influence the depth of splash erosion. In addition, this study indicates that the level of splash erosion not only influenced by the level of closure and rainfall, but also strongly influenced by the size of the leaf cover. Keywords: Cacao plantation, Canopy cover, Regression analysis, Splash erosion.
