Abstract

This study aims to develop a fun interactive learning method as an effort to reduce stress due to online learning, especially in Mathematics. The research was conducted on online fifth grade elementary school students. This Powtoon and Adobe Flash-based learning media application can be accessed from cellphones or laptops. The data collection method used in this research is the experimental method. Statistical calculations obtained the results: (1) there was a difference in the mathematical value between before and after being given treatment as indicated by the value of sig = 0.000 (p < 1%), where there was an increase in the mathematical value from an average of 78.53 to 89.41; (2) there is a difference in the level of stress in students between before and after being given treatment as indicated by the value of sig = 0.000 (p < 1%), with the mean value of 47.44 dropping to 39.85 after being given treatment; (3) there is a significant correlation between stress levels and students' Mathematics test scores before treatment, which is indicated by the value of sig = 0.011 (p < 5%). The direction of the correlation is negative with the value of rxy = -0.429; (4) there is a significant correlation between stress levels and students' test scores in post-treatment Mathematics, indicated by the value of sig = 0.038 (p < 5%). The direction of the correlation is negative with the value of rxy = -0.357. Negative correlation means that the higher the stress felt by students, the lower the learning achievement obtained, and vice versa. Evaluation of the learning application was carried out descriptively and satisfactory results were obtained.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between self-esteem and self-disclosure with subjective well-being among users of the Bumble online dating application in Semarang. The background of this research is based on the increasing use of dating applications as a medium of social interaction, which may influence users’ psychological well-being. Subjective well-being in this study was measured through two key aspects: life satisfaction and affect. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The sample consisted of 384 respondents selected using purposive sampling based on specific criteria: aged 18–28 years, having verified accounts, and active use of the Bumble application for more than two years. Data were collected through online questionnaires using the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS), Coopersmith’s self-esteem scale, and Altman & Taylor’s self-disclosure scale. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS. The findings indicate that self-esteem and self-disclosure simultaneously have a significant effect on subjective well-being, particularly on life satisfaction (R² = 0.785; p < 0.05). Partially, both variables also showed a significant positive effect on life satisfaction; however, neither had a significant effect on affect, whether simultaneously or individually. The categorization results showed that most respondents had high levels of self-esteem, self-disclosure, and life satisfaction, while affect tended to fall into the moderate category. It can be concluded that self-confidence and openness play an important role in enhancing the subjective well-being of online dating application users, particularly in the cognitive dimension related to life satisfaction evaluation. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of psychological strategies that support the well-being of digital application users such as Bumble, and to offer practical input for application developers in creating features that support users’ subjective well-being, especially in the evaluative aspect of life.

Abstract

This determined the relationship between self-esteem and family social support on the optimism of adolescent career planning at the Semarang Child Development Center. The hypothesis is that there is a positive relationship between self-esteem and career planning optimism, assuming that the higher the self-esteem of adolescents, the higher the optimism of adolescents in career planning. There is a positive relationship between family social support and career planning optimism, assuming that the higher the family social support, the higher Adolescents are optimistic in planning a career, there is a positive relationship between self-esteem and family social support on career planning optimism, with the assumption that the higher the self-esteem and family social support, the more optimistic adolescents are in determining a career. The research subjects in this study used a saturated sample of adolescents aged 15-18 years at the Semarang Child Development Center. The test carried out in this study is an assumption test that contains a normality test and a relationship linearity test. This study uses Product Moment correlation using SPSS 23 for Windows. The results of the data analysis obtained are the correlation coefficient of 0.659 with a significance of 0.000, r_x1y = 0.659 (p <0.01), meaning that the hypothesis is acceptable, namely that there is a positive relationship between the variable self-esteem and optimism for career planning, the second hypothesis obtained a value of 0.589 with a significance of 0.000 , r_x2y = 0.589 (p <0.01) means that the hypothesis is accepted, namely that there is a positive relationship between the variable family social support on career planning optimism, then the third hypothesis obtained a value of 0.692, an R square value of 0.479, an F value of 68.853 with a significance level of 0.000. A significance of 0.000 is smaller than alpha 0.01, meaning that the hypothesis is accepted indicating a simultaneous relationship between self-esteem and family social support variables on optimism in career planning.

Abstract

Social loafing is an intriguing problem, especially among students, because group members frequently rely on one another without providing appropriate contributions. This study aims to examine the relationship between Self-Esteem and Group Cohesiveness on Social Loafing among students at the Faculty of Language and Culture at Seventeen August University, Semarang. Quantitative correlation is utilized to collect and analyze data on 188 students. The variable Self-Esteem (X1) has a t-value of -2,317 and a significance level of 0.019, so the null hypothesis (H1) is accepted. Thus, Self-Esteem (X1) has a negative relationship with Social Loafing (Y). In the meantime, the Group Cohesiveness (X2) variable has a t value of -3,562 and a significance level of 0.000, so H2 is also accepted. This demonstrates that Group Cohesiveness (X2) has a negative and statistically significant relationship with Social Loafing (Y). They simultaneously have an  F value of 11.243 and a significance value of 0.000. This indicates that H3 is accepted, which means that Self-Esteem (X1) and Group Cohesion (X2) simultaneously influence Social Loafing (Y).
