Abstract

The library is an important part of higher education, where the teaching and learning process does not escape from teaching materials and reference materials. Qamarul Huda Badaruddin University is one of the universities in NTB which has a library with a desktop-based library system. This has an impact on the management of libraries and users which in this case students become ineffective and inefficient. With a high need for libraries, library managers, namely librarians and students as users, need a web-based information system so that they can be used from anywhere and anytime, simply using a smartphone or computer. To answer the above problems, the authors design and build a web-based library information system at Qamarul Huda Badaruddin University using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method. The framework uses CodeIgniter which allows developers to create web applications with Rapid Application Development (RAD) development characteristics. The Qamarul Huda Badaruddin University Library Information System consists of 12 functional requirements, which cover all the requirements for the Qamarul Huda Badaruddin University library. Completion of each module also refers to all stages of the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method and all of them can run well

Abstract

Professional Development (PD) is a very important program should be done by teacher in the school or lecturer in the college, in order to upgrade their professionalism in improving their students’ achievement. There are some ways to upgrade professional development on teacher or lecturer, such as courses, conferences and etc. In Indonesia the profession as educators it can be teachers or lecturers are started to be noticed by the government, we can see there are some government’s policies to develop the professional development of educators as a strong and respected profession on an equal footing with other professions as can be seen from Law No. 14 of 2005 concerning Teachers and Lecturers who strive developing the profession of educator through legal protection. The professional development policy in teaching process, such as curriculum changes and other training activities have some bad and good impacts for the participants. Curriculum changes have bad impact for the teacher in the school, lecturer in the college, the students and stakeholders, they will have difficulty in understanding the new curriculum, because the government often changes the curriculum, actually they can adapt to the previous curriculum, the government changes the minister of education automatically the curriculum will change as well, so it will cause confusion for them in the process of learning..

Abstract

Integrating HOTS (high order thinking skill) in EFL classes is one of the interesting and important issues in the context of teaching English in order to improve the students’ creativity and make them create their own innovation in the process of learning English in the class. Based on Bloom’s revised taxonomy that the educators (teacher or lecturer) are not only encouraged to teach four skills in language teaching (speaking, reading, writing, and listening) the writer just focuses on Integrating HOTS (high order thinking skill) in English for pharmacy class. As we know that there are four skills of English (listening, reading, speaking, and writing.) which should be mastered by students in the process of learning English, whereas the lecturer are required to be able to integrated high order thinking skill (HOTS) in English for pharmacy class. Integrating HOTS in English for pharmacy class through video focus on the four skills of English (listening, reading, speaking, and writing skill). Through video, the lecturer can measure students’ ability in listening, reading, speaking, and writing skill.

Abstract

Dalam penelitian dan pengembangan ini terdapat tujuan umum dan tujuan khusus. Tujuan Umum mengkaji Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris dengan “Panca KTS” yang terdiri dari 1. perencanaan, 2. pelaksanaan dan 3. evaluasi pada siswa kelas X SMK Negri Labuapi, sedangkan tujuan khususnya adalah untuk menghasilkan model. Pembelajaran yang cocok bagi penanaman karakter siswa dilihat dari desainya dan sarana pendukungnya yang sudah tersedia didalam model pembelajaran tersebut yang telah di laksakan pada penelitian ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development yaitu menelitian yang digunakan untuk menghasilkan produk tertentu dan menguji keefektifan produk tersebut. Pendekatan penelitian dan pengembangan dipandang tepat digunakan dalam mengembangkan model pembelajaran yang efektif. Pengumpulan data menggunakan angket dan observasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menghasilkasn produk yang berupa text book untuk meningkatkan nilai karakter siswa dan siswi kelas X SMK Negeri 1 labuapi didalam pemebelajaran bahasa inggris dan dengan model pengembangan pembelajaran bahasa inggris

Abstract

The data gathered from the Report of Study and the Diagnostic Test results, which focus on specifically testing students’ pronunciation, showed that the speaking ability of second semester of medical record student Academic Year 2015/2016 was relatively low. Generally, the problems were students considered that English was difficult subject; they were diffident when they spoke English and teachers found difficulties in correcting students’ mispronunciation. Those were because they often forgot the corrected pronunciation and teachers required much of time to check or to correct each student’s mispronunciation as well. For those, the researcher conducted a classroom action research to enhance students’ pronunciation through self-correction using voice recording and to observe how the implementation of self-correction using voice recording can fix mispronunciation. The research resulted progresses on two cycles; 10.99% and 12.49%. Based on those results, there were improvements on students’ pronunciation and students showed positive response towards the use of self-correction using voice recording to enhance pronunciation.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe an analysis of the undergraduate students’ difficulties in writing descriptive paragraph. This research was conducted in second semester of Qomaruddin University. The design of this research is a qualitative research. The population is all undergraduate students on English Language Education Study Program at Qomaruddin University.. From the population, the second semester of English Language Education Study Program which consist of 27 students is chosen as the sample of this research. The instrument of the study of the data from test, questionnaire, and interview. The components of writing that are analyzed are generic structure (content), organization, grammar, vocabulary and punctuation The result of this research shows that the second semester students of Qomaruddin University have difficulty in writing descriptive text, the difficulties are difficulties in grammar, vocabulary, punctuation, generic structure (conteent) and oganization. Many of them make mistakes in the verb agreement and tenses in grammar, their vocabulary is still not quite right and the spelling of words is not correct, then punctuation marks such as the use of periods, commas and capital letters are still inaccurate and need to improve. While the factors that cause the students’ difficulties in writing descriptive text are lack of interest, lack of knowledge, lack of proficiency, and almost of students were answered that their environtment was quiet supportive for writing.
