Abstract

We examine how rectangular array model can support students' spatial structuring in learning multiplication. To begin, we define what we mean by spatial structuring as the mental operation of constructing an organization or form for an object or set of objects. For that reason, the eggs problem was chosen as the starting point in which the students could recognize such an arrangement. Geoboard was also be used as a tool to visualize the array. This research focused on a design research that was conducted in Surya Institute Program (SIP) in which investigated 12 Papuan students (between 10 and 11 years old) in connecting rectangular array model with the idea of multiplication. The result showed that rectangular array model indeed support the students to count things more efficient, able to see the structural similarities of arrays and created spatial structures for sets of objects.

Abstract

Based on TIMSS 2011 and PISA 2018, mathematical connection ability of Indonesian students has not been optimal. Some of questions in TIMSS and PISA measured the mathematical connections ability. Needed the instructional media to increase mathematical connection ability, such as puzzle and GeoGebra. In addition, gender also affects students' mathematical ability. This study aims to investigate differences in mathematical connection abilities between students who learning by puzzle and GeoGebra, investigate differences in mathematical connection abilities between male and female students, and investigate interactions between instructional media and gender. This research was a quasi-experiment which used nonequivalent control group design. The samples were students of class VIII-A and VIII-B in Junior High School of 1 Tangerang City. The instruments in this research consisted of test items, such as pretest and posttest. Hypotheses test through parametric test (ANOVA Two Tail). Based on ANOVA Two Tail-test result, showed that there is difference increase in mathematical connection ability students who learning by GeoGebra and puzzle. Then, there is no difference increase mathematical connections ability between male and female students. The factors of instructional media and gender do not equally affect the increase of mathematical connection ability.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: This study aims to obtain empirical data on the leadership style of elementary school principals in Sukoharjo Regency in establishing good relationships between teachers and employees. Method: The research method used was qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques through semi-structured interviews and observations. The research informants consisted of principals, teachers, and employees from three different elementary schools. The data analysis process includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The validity of the data was tested through triangulation of sources and techniques. Result: The results of the study show that school principals in Sukoharjo tend to apply a transformational leadership style in human resource management. This is reflected in efforts to build good interpersonal communication, providing motivation, personal coaching, appreciation for achievements, and active involvement of teachers and employees in the decision-making process. This leadership style has proven to be effective in creating a harmonious work atmosphere and improving the performance of school organizations. Implication: The implications of this study show that transformational leadership styles are relevant to be applied in the context of basic education, particularly in building a collaborative and supportive organizational culture. Principals are advised to continue to develop communication skills, empathy, and motivational skills so that working relationships with teachers and employees can be maintained positively and productively

Abstract

This study compared the predictive capabilities of linear regression, random forest, and logistic regression models for forecasting crude palm oil prices. Utilizing historical data from 02/11/2020 to 13/11/2023, the dataset underwent training and testing with three scenarios: 90:10, 80:20, and 70:30. Evaluation metrics, including RMSE, MSE, and MAPE, assessed model performance. Each method had unique strengths and weaknesses, and the choice depended on application needs. The goal was to improve decision accuracy in predicting crude palm oil price trends. In the 90:10 scenario, random forest outperformed linear and logistic regression, yielding smaller MSE (43948.56), MAE (80.37), and RMSE (209.64). Similarly, in the 80:20 scenario, random forest had smaller MSE (137787.61), MAE (106.38), and RMSE (371.20). In the 70:30 scenario, random forest showed smaller MSE (107582.32), MAE (104.13), and RMSE (328). Overall, random forest consistently demonstrated better performance than linear and logistic regression.
