Abstract

The ability to speak English is the main priority of many languages ​​being studied, inadequate mastery of English is often a source of anxiety experienced by students. English anxiety is anxiety that arises as perceptions, beliefs, feelings, and attitudes that arise in individuals in learning and using English. English anxiety is a result of affective factors that arise due to several things: lack of knowledge of English, lack of preparation, fear of making mistakes, and difficulty understanding instructions from the teacher. The hypothesis in this study is that there is a relationship between negative thought patterns and English speaking anxiety in students majoring in English at UNWIRA Kupang. Participants in this study were students majoring in English with a total of 130 respondents. The analysis in this study uses correlational analysis. The results of the analysis show that there is a correlation coefficient between negative thinking patterns and English-speaking anxiety of 0.434 with a significant value of 0.000 <0.05.

Abstract

Instagram merupakan salah satu media sosial yang populer di kalangan mahasiswa, terutama karena fitur filter yang memungkinkan pengguna untuk mengedit foto dan video guna meningkatkan estetika dan membangun citra diri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh motif penggunaan filter Instagram terhadap kepercayaan diri mahasiswa Program Studi Psikologi Universitas Nusa Cendana. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain survei, dimana data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner yang disebarkan kepada 61 mahasiswa Program Studi Psikologi angkatan 2020 yang menggunakan fitur filter Instagram dengan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan regresi linear berganda untuk menguji hipotesis yang diajukan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh positif yang signifikan antara motif penggunaan filter Instagram yang terdiri dari aspek kebutuhan berkhayal (B=2.693) dan aspek kebutuhan afektif (B=1.496) terhadap kepercayaan diri mahasiswa. Sebaliknya, kebutuhan kognitif, integratif personal, dan integratif sosial memiliki pengaruh negatif. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa mahasiswa cenderung menggunakan filter Instagram untuk mengekspresikan kreativitas dan meningkatkan rasa percaya diri, meskipun ada risiko ketidakpuasan terhadap citra diri yang ditampilkan. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya memahami dampak penggunaan media sosial, khususnya filter Instagram, terhadap aspek psikologis mahasiswa. Hasil ini mendukung perlunya pendekatan yang lebih bijaksana dalam menggunakan media sosial untuk menjaga kesehatan mental dan kepercayaan diri individu

Abstract

This study discusses the importance of parental social support in career planning for deaf children, who have communication limitations and need special assistance in developing their potential. This study was conducted because parents often experience anxiety about the future of their deaf-speech disabled children, especially in determining appropriate career paths. This study aims to describe forms of parental social support in the process of children's career planning. This study used a descriptive qualitative method with purposive sampling and semi-structured interviews with four parents of deaf students at SLB Asuhan Kasih Kupang. The results of the thematic analysis show that emotional, informative, and modeling support are the main forms of support provided by parents. Other supporting factors include the school environment, the exploration of children's interests, and parental expectations. These findings emphasize the importance of active parental involvement in optimally preparing children with hearing disabilities for their careers.
