This study aims to obtain an empirical evidence about the effect of good corporate governance on tax avoidance which becomes a proxy of current ETR (Effective Tax Rate). The samples of this study were 120 manufacturing companies listed in Indonesian Stock Exchange in 2010 â 2013. The hypothesis testing used multiple regression analysis. The result of this study show that audit committee has a positive effect on tax avoidance in partial but the executive compensation, executive character, company size, institutional ownership, boards of commisionersâ proportion, audit committee and audit quality have simultaneous effect to define tax avoidance.

What My Mother Doesnâ€™t Know is a novel-in-verse by Sonya Sones which tells about a teenage girl named Sophie who tries to find her Mr. Right and her bad relationship with her parents. In the end, Sophie finds her Mr. Right who is actually not her type of boy friend but he can make her feel happy and even though she hates her parents, she realizes that she loves them nevertheless. The purpose of this article is to prove that the authorâ€™s use of style can reveal the themes of novel-in-verse The analysis of the novel-in-verse focuses mainly on the themes and the figurative language of simile, metaphor, personification, paradox, and hyperbole. Research methods are conducted in qualitative method in the form of library research and statistics to calculate how many poems use the five figurative languages and are related to the themes. In the analysis, the authorâ€™s style is figurative language and there are three themes that can be taken from the novel-in-verse. The themes are overwhelmed feeling does not show the true feeling, the bond of family will always be there, no matter how hateful we are to them and love is not determined by someoneâ€™s physical appearance. The result shows that 91.36 percents of poems that use the five figurative languages are related to the themes. It can be concluded that the authorâ€™s style in writing the novel-in-verse can reveal the three themes.

Profitabilitas, leverage, ukuran perusahaan, umur perusahaan, dan dewan komisaris independen digunakan dalam penelitian untuk menilai seberapa besar pengaruh terhadap pelaksanaan Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) di suatu perusahaan. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode purposive sampling dengan mengambil perusahaan yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia sektor pertambangan dan mendapatkan total populasi 41 perusahaan dan sampel sebanyak 16 perusahaan dari tahun 2014-2018. SPPS versi 17 digunakan dalam penelitian untuk menguji analisis regresi linear berganda. Hasil penelitian secara simultan yang berpengaruh terhadap pelaksanaan Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) adalah profitabilitas, leverage, ukuran perusahaan, umur perusahaan, dan dewan komisaris independen. Hasil penelitian secara parsial yang tidak berpengaruh dan tidak signifikan dalam pelaksanaan Corporate Social Responsibility adalah profitabilitas, leverage, dan dewan komisaris independen sedangkan yang berpengaruh dan signifikan dalam pelaksanaan Corporate Social Responsibility adalah ukuran perusahaan dan umur perusahaan.

2021 was the year of Netflix’s sensation, the South Korean drama series, "Squid Game" directed by Hwang Dong Hyuk. The visual and audio production are extraordinary, and the idea of the storyline is quite interesting, resulted in one of the highest ratings in Netflix. This analysis examines the creative process in the idea of pictures taken in the series by studying cinematographic visual composition based on composition theory by Paul Wheeler. In this paper, the authors try to examine some of the best scenes as a sampling study, and how a composition can provide an important role in communicating the drama series’ storyline. Surely this can be developed as a further learning medium in the study of cinematography and composition.

The appropriate utilization of typography holds substantial significance as it directly influences the visual perception of a brand. Typography serves as a visual manifestation of a brand, wherein the distinctive characteristics of each letter reflect the brand's overall image. Similarly, within the domain of packaging design, typography assumes a critical role in upholding brand identity. Recognizing the urgency of this matter, the present study endeavors to develop an informative compendium that exhibits the application of typography in packaging design through visually captivating presentations, complemented by case studies of well-known brands prevalent in the Indonesian market. Employing the design thinking methodology, which entails problem-solving through product development, this study culminates in the production of a book that showcases typographical content presented in an uncluttered layout, emphasizing the significance of typography while elucidating its contents. The study presents its findings in the form of a book showing typographical content, meticulously designed with a clean layout that highlights the exploration of typography within the book's contents. The significance of this research stems from the demand for comprehensive and visually engaging resources that demonstrate the application of typography in packaging design, aligning with the evolving requirements of the digital economy industry and the educational needs of Visual Communication Design students in Indonesia.

Instagram is a social media platform for publishing photographic works. Lee Jeffries, one of the most renowned portrait photographers, consistently exposes his works to the general public, including through the social media platform Instagram. His photographic works are considered highly interesting and unique due to their capacity to transmit social messages. Lee Jeffries consistently captures photographs of homeless people worldwide to convey social messages to his audience. This motivates the authors to discuss the meaning of visual messages in Lee Jeffries' works. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach to analyze the photographs’ composition, color, and symbolic meaning. The results show that the application of symmetrical and asymmetrical compositions and colors for portraits of human faces, especially those of the homeless on urban street corners, produced symbolic meanings, including sadness, emotion, and happiness.Instagram is a social media platform for publishing photographic works. In Indonesia, English is not widely used for communication. Hence, Indonesian high school graduates who desire to study abroad may encounter difficulties communicating in English. One of the destination countries Indonesian students choose to study in is Malaysia. When studying in Malaysia, some may transition from EFL (English as a Foreign Language) to ESL (English as a Second Language) speakers as they are required to speak English more frequently, especially in academic contexts. Thus, this study was conducted to investigate the challenges of speaking English for Indonesian undergraduate students, the contributing factors to the challenges, and the strategies used by the students to navigate the challenges. A number of 15 Indonesian EFL undergraduate students still registered as active students in an ESL university in Malaysia participated in this study. Data was collected via semi-structured interviews, transcribed, and thematically analysed. The findings were presented thematically with narrative excerpts to support them. The results indicated some challenges faced when students adjusted themselves in their higher education institution, including their psychological reactions, speaking academic English, and online learning. Therefore, to help EFL students be more prepared to speak English for academic contexts in an ESL environment, stakeholders in the education sector in Indonesia should consider providing more actions to focus on improving the English-speaking skills of students.
