Abstract

Method of guiding inquiry learning is process where the teacher presents the principle elements in one lesson and then ask students to make generalizations. This study aimed to know the effect the application of the method Guided Inquiry to the motivation, activities and learning outcomes of mathematics students. The design of this research is one group posttest-only. The population was VIII grade students  of state Junior High School 3 Gadingrejo. The sample was class VIII-C were taken at random from seven class. The research data in the form of data learning motivation, learning activities and learning outcomes of mathematics were obtained through observation, questionnaires, and a formative test. Analyzing data in this study using the proportion test. Based on the results of research known that the method of Guided Inquiry influence motivation, activities, and learning outcomes of mathematics.Keywords:  Method of Guided Inquiry, learning motivation, learning activities, learning outcomes.

Abstract

Think Pair Share (TPS) merupakan salah satu tipe model pembelajaran kooperatif yang memberi pengalaman belajar pada siswa untuk lebih mudah memahami materi pelajaran yang telah dipelajari. Pembelajaran TPS terdiri dari beberapa tahapan yaitu berfikir secara individu (think), berdiskusi dengan pasangannya (pair) dan berbagi dengan seluruh kelas (share). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan populasi seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Page-laran Semester Ganjil Tahun Pelajaran 2012/2013 sebanyak 316 siswa yang terdistribusi dalam sepuluh kelas. Sampel penelitian ini dua kelas yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan post-test control design. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS berpengaruh terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa.Kata kunci: Pengaruh, TPS, Pemahaman Konsep Matematis

Abstract

This quasi-experimental research aims to know the influence of SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visual, and Intelectual) approach to the student’s mathematical conceptual comprehension. Population of this reseacrh is second grade students in the even semester at SMPN 1 Sidomulyo in 2012/2013 as many as 260 students that consist of seven classes with an average value of low cognitive ability (47,53). The samples of this research are choosen by purposive sampling technique and it is obtained VIII B and VIII E. The design of this research is the posttest-only control-group design. The instrument of this research is an essay test of student’s mathematical conceptual comprehension that valid and has high reliability. Based on the results of hypothesis testing obtained that student’s mathematical conceptual comprehension with SAVI approach is better than student’s mathematical conceptual comprehension with conventional learning. Thus, learning with SAVI approach an influence to the mathematical conceptual comprehension of second grade students at SMPN 1 Sidomulyo in 2012/2013.   Key Words: SAVI Approach, Mathematical Conceptual Comprehension
