Abstract

Abstract

The village of Tanjung Lanjut possesses abundant natural resources and scenic beauty that are yet to be fully explored by external visitors. These potential assets include Lake Tangkas, where hanging trees, putat leaves, and the local tradition of "makan merawang" are found. The cool natural ambiance and untouched environment make Lake Tangkas in Tanjung Lanjut a pleasant tourist destination. However, the community's empowerment in promoting the tourism potential of Lake Tangkas and harnessing the village's creative economy based on local wisdom has not been fully maximized. Although efforts by the Village-Owned Enterprises (Bumdes) have been made to enhance the local community's income, there remain untapped opportunities for creative economy initiatives rooted in local wisdom. This article aims to foster the development of Tanjung Lanjut's community in utilizing the village's creative economic potential while preserving its local wisdom, as well as supporting the growth of the Tanjung Lanjut Village-Owned Enterprise in expanding the existing businesses through creative economy approaches based on local wisdom.

Abstract

Tanjung Lanjut Village in Kecamatan Sekernan, Muaro Jambi Regency, has tourism potential, one of which is Tangkas Lake. The main attraction of this lake is Planchonia valida or, locally-known as putat tree, with its red flowers that bloom around July to August each year. The natural and cool atmosphere makes this lake a comfortable place to visit. However, despite having great tourism potential, the empowerment of the Tanjung Lanjut Village community in preserving and utilizing local wisdom is still not optimal. Several programs have been run to address this issue, including socialization of the importance of developing the tourism sector, batik making activities, and empowerment of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Therefore, the community service activities aim to provide guidance to Tanjung Lanjut Village community in utilizing the village’s creative economic potential. Thus, it is expected that the community can improve their welfare while still preserving local wisdom as a form of developing creative business units.

Abstract

The development of a green economy through organic waste recycling practices into compost in Lumahan Village, Senyerang Sub-district, Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency, represents a strategic step in supporting the concept of sustainable and environmentally friendly economic growth. This program aims to process organic waste into valuable compost while raising public awareness about the importance of sustainable waste management. In addition to providing positive environmental impacts by reducing the volume of waste disposed of in landfills, this activity also creates new economic opportunities through the sale of compost. The program involves various stakeholders, including farmers and village officials, to encourage the integration of recycling practices into daily life. The program is expected to increase the amount of organic waste processed into compost, reduce the volume of waste ending up in landfills, and enhance community welfare through compost sales. Furthermore, this program is anticipated to serve as a model for other villages in implementing sustainable waste management systems and supporting the transition toward a green economy.
