Abstract

Online learning is learning that is done online using learning applications and social networks. Kepewaraan or emcee is a person in charge of leading and managing the course of an event. The purpose of this study was to determine the learning outcomes and student responses to the application of the discovery learning model in the civil service subject with online learning. This type of research is classroom action research which is implemented in an online form. The research subjects were students of the sixth semester of Indonesian and regional education at the University of PGRI Mahadewa Indonesia for the academic year 2020/2021. The object of research is the learning outcomes of the Civics subject with the application of discovery learning learning models with online learning. This study used two cycles, and each cycle went through four stages of the activity process (1) planning, (2) action, (3) observation, and (4) evaluation and reflection. The data collection technique in this research is using the test and observation method. The results of the research show (1) The application of discovery learning learning models can improve the learning outcomes of civility subjects with online learning. (2) There is a positive response of students with online learning to the application of the discovery learning model.

Abstract

Jurisprudential inquiry strategy is a learning strategy that aims to teach students to analyze and think systematically and critically on issues that are currently hot in society. The objectives of this study are (1) to describe and explain the application of jurisprudential inquiry learning strategies for learning students' speaking skills, (2) to increase student activity in the speaking learning process through the application of jurisprudential inquiry learning strategies to students, and (3) to improve students' speaking skills. students through jurisprudential inquiry learning strategies to students. This type of research is action research. The subjects of this action research are students of class XI MIPA 2 SMA Negeri 7 Denpasar in the 2021/2022 academic year. Techniques used to collect data include observation, document review interviews, questionnaires, and tests. The data collection technique in this research is using the test and observation method. The results showed (1) Jurisprudential inquiry learning strategies can be applied to students' speaking skills, (2) Jurisprudential inquiry learning strategies can increase students' activeness in the speaking learning process in students' classes, (3) Jurisprudential inquiry learning strategies can improve students' speaking skills.

Abstract

Scientific publications carried out by teachers are basically a manifestation of teacher professionalism. The aim of this service is to find a solution to the problem of teachers' lack of knowledge in writing scientific papers and scientific publications in the form of classroom action research. This problem can be overcome by increasing capacity through learning with outreach through two approaches, namely training and mentoring. In general, the implementation of PKM at SDN 3 Penatih has run smoothly according to the predetermined schedule. In implementing the 1st and 2nd stages of PKM socialization, much progress has been achieved. In writing scientific papers, conveying scientific information to the general public requires a writing technique that meets scientific rules and ethics in accordance with scientific standards. From the results of the mentoring, the teacher's skills in writing rich scientific writing increased. Scientific writing training discusses the urgency of writing, the systematics of writing papers, and the systematics of making research reports followed by writing articles for publication in nationally accredited scientific journals. The material was delivered by lecturers from the PKM Team at PGRI Mahadewa Indonesia University. The PTK results will later be presented as a condition for promotion for teachers to higher levels.

Abstract

The School Literacy Movement is a comprehensive effort to make schools a learning organization whose citizens are literate throughout life through public involvement. The Education Department is trying to improve students' literacy and numeracy skills in schools, but there are still many students who have little interest in reading so their literacy is low. This service aims to increase students' interest in reading through school literacy movement activities involving class IV and class V students at SDN 3 Penatih, East Denpasar District, Denpasar City. This activity was carried out in conjunction with the 2023 Thematic Real Work Lecture for students conducted by lecturers at PGRI Mahadewa Indonesia University. This activity method uses training and mentoring. There are two training activities that are effective in increasing students' interest in reading. namely book review activities and writing book reviews carried out to analyze and understand the books students read. The next activity is a book discussion group used to encourage students to discuss and share their understanding of books. The results of community service training show that book review activities and book discussion groups have a significant impact in increasing students' interest in reading. With a literacy environment that stimulates and can motivate students, students' interest in reading at SDN 3 Penatih, Denpasar City increases significantly.

Abstract

Training on writing independent curriculum teaching modules aims to provide understanding and skills to teachers in compiling teaching modules that are in accordance with the independent curriculum. Community service carried out by lecturers at PGRI Mahadewa Indonesia University to provide knowledge and skills to teachers in designing teaching modules that are relevant to the Independent Curriculum. The problem faced by teachers at SMA Negeri 8 Denpasar is the difficulty of teachers in creating teaching modules, so one solution that can be provided is training in writing teaching modules in the Independent Curriculum to improve the quality of learning in the school. The activity was attended by 40 teachers who were guided by lecturers from UPMI to provide training and provide an in-depth understanding of the principles of the independent curriculum and how to integrate them into teaching modules. Training participants learn about teaching module development methods that are oriented towards increasing teacher human resources in empowering students by using the application of technology in learning, and measuring student progress comprehensively. After the activity ended, the teachers were able to develop teaching modules creatively, innovatively and effectively to support the achievement of the learning objectives of the independent curriculum. Through PkM activities at SMA Negeri 8 Denpasar, teachers can create teaching modules in the independent curriculum according to the subjects they teach.

Abstract

Poetry is the result of expressing feelings and inner experiences that are poured out through distinctive and imaginative word choices. This study aims to analyze the physical structure and inner structure of poetry by class X students of SMA Negeri 8 Denpasar in an effort to improve Indonesian language learning outcomes. The subjects of the study were class X students in the 2024/2025 academic year. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach to obtain in-depth and meaningful data. The data sources used consist of primary and secondary sources, with data collection techniques through documentation and literature studies. Data analysis techniques include reading and taking notes on the poems that have been collected by students, then analyzed based on elements of physical structure (diction, imagination, style, rhyme, and facial expression) and inner structure (theme, tone, feelings, and messages). The results of the study show that the diction used by students tends to use everyday language; imagination is dominated by visual images and feelings; the style of language used includes metaphor, personification, and hyperbole. The most frequently raised theme is romance, with the tone of poetry varying between melancholic, romantic, and cynical. The feelings depicted in the poem are love and despair, while the message is generally conveyed explicitly. This finding shows that the use of student-written poems can be used as an effective learning medium to improve literary appreciation and Indonesian language learning outcomes.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to provide a solution to the problem of lack of understanding and skills of teachers in designing interesting and relevant digital learning content, in order to improve teacher professional competence and student learning outcomes at SMP Negeri 1 Sukawati. The implementation of the activity is carried out through two main stages, namely training and mentoring. In the training stage, teachers are given a conceptual understanding and practical skills in using various digital applications such as Canva, CapCut, and Powtoon to create interactive learning media. The next stage is technical mentoring which is carried out periodically to ensure that teachers are able to implement the training results in the learning process in the classroom. The results of the activity show a significant increase in teacher competence in creating digital learning content and the formation of several learning video products as real outputs of the training. In addition, this activity encourages the integration of digital content in the Merdeka Curriculum in a more systematic and sustainable manner. Thus, this community service activity has a real positive impact in supporting technology-based educational transformation in the school environment.

Abstract

Inclusive schools with an educational service system require that children with special needs be educated alongside their peers according to their abilities. Until now, a model for mathematics literacy learning based on local wisdom in inclusive high schools has not been available. This study aims to: (1) Analyze local wisdom in inclusive high schools, (2) Analyze the model of mathematics literacy learning based on local wisdom in inclusive high schools, and (3) Construct the concept of a mathematics literacy learning model based on local wisdom in inclusive high schools. This study uses both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The quantitative results illustrate the analysis of the influence of local wisdom-based learning (X) on learning independence (Y1) and student creativity (Y2), as well as the role of teachers in developing mathematics literacy learning models in inclusive high schools in Denpasar City. The qualitative approach is conducted to complement the data collected using the quantitative approach. The qualitative analysis results can be summarized as follows: (1) The model for mathematics literacy learning based on local wisdom in inclusive high schools needs improvement. (2) The implemented model of mathematics literacy learning based on local wisdom in inclusive high schools are highly varied, and (3) It is urgent and necessary to formulate a new concept for a mathematics literacy learning model based on local wisdom for students in inclusive education schools. The development of this new concept needs to involve various parties, including policymakers, community leaders, and program implementers such as school principals, teachers, and parents.

Abstract

The use of abbreviations in journalistic language is a linguistic strategy that has evolved alongside advancements in media and digital technology. In the context of online journalism, abbreviations not only serve to save space and time but also support the speed and efficiency of information delivery. This study aims to analyze the use of abbreviations in communication science news articles published on the Tempo.co website during January 2025. The research focuses on identifying the dominant types of abbreviations, their frequency, as well as their functions and purposes within the journalistic language style in digital media. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach with content analysis methods applied to 40 news articles. Data were collected through documentation techniques involving identification and classification of abbreviation forms appearing in the news texts. The results indicate that acronyms are the most dominant type of abbreviation, found in 19 out of 23 cases (82.61%), followed by abbreviations with 4 cases (17.39%). Abbreviations were most frequently used in the Politics and Economy news categories, primarily to simplify the mention of institution names, positions, technical terms, countries, and political parties. The main function of using abbreviations is to support efficient information delivery, improve readability, and maintain clarity of meaning. Most of the abbreviations used are standardized and commonly recognized by the public. In conclusion, the use of abbreviations in Tempo.co online news reflects an adaptive effort to meet the demands of fast and concise digital communication, while reinforcing an efficient and communicative journalistic language style

Abstract

This community service program aimed to improve the public speaking skills of students and community members through a training program conducted as part of the Universitas PGRI Mahadewa Indonesia (UPMI) Social Service Program in Singapadu Kaler Village, Sukawati District, Gianyar Regency. This program was motivated by the low level of self-confidence and public communication skills among students and the local community in social and academic activities. The implementation method applied a participatory empowerment approach consisting of socialization, training, practice and mentoring, and evaluation stages. The training was conducted through interactive lectures, simulations, direct practice, and continuous feedback. Evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test, performance observation, and self-confidence questionnaires. The results showed a significant improvement in participants’ abilities in terms of content delivery, speaking fluency, use of body language, and self-confidence when speaking in public. Participants also demonstrated better skills in structuring messages systematically and delivering ideas more effectively. This program had a positive impact on enhancing the communication competence of both students and community members as a provision for academic activities, organizational involvement, and social participation. Therefore, public speaking training is proven to be an effective effort to strengthen soft skills and empower human resources in Singapadu Kaler Village.
