Abstract

Sidewalks are public facilities and must be accessible to all users. This study departs from the lack of quality of public open space in Bandung and the absence of a sidewalk model that is responsive to people with low vision. The purpose of this research is to find out the design principles and to make responsive pavement design models of people with low vision. Data was collected by interviewing and observing the behavior and travel of people with low vision on some familiar and unfamiliar sidewalks in the city of Bandung. Data analysis was carried out from recorded interviews to find out the obstacles faced by people with low vision when exploring sidewalk space. This research produces criteria and models of pavement design that are responsive to persons with a low vision based on their limitations. The results of the study are expected to contribute to the concept of pavement design so that people with low vision can have equal and independent rights in accessing public space[Trotoar adalah fasilitas publik dan harus aksesibel bagi semua penggunanya. Penelitian ini berangkat dari kurangnya kualitas ruang terbuka publik di Bandung dan belum adanya model trotoar yang responsif terhadap penyandang low vision. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui prinsip-prinsip perancangan dan membuat model perancangan trotoar responsif penyandang low vision. Data dikumpulkan dengan wawancara dan observasi terhadap perilaku dan perjalanan penyandang low vision di beberapa trotoar yang familier dan tidak familier di Kota Bandung. Analisis data dilakukan dari rekaman hasil wawancara untuk mengetahui hambatan yang dihadapi penyandang low vision ketika menjelajah ruang trotoar. Penelitian ini menghasilkan kriteria dan model perancangan trotoar yang responsif penyandang low vision berdasarkan keterbatasan yang dimiliki oleh mereka. Hasil penelitian diharapkan berkontribusi dalam konsep perancangan trotoar agar penyandang low vision dapat memiliki hak setara dan mandiri dalam mengakses ruang publik.]

Abstract

Analysis of pedestrian design criteria of Padalarang railway station area The Padalarang sub urban is currently known as high mobility area. There are railway station and terminal for public transportation. Recently, Padalarang has decreasing its physical and visual quality due to the growth of informal housing, informal sector, traditional market and terminal. The Transit Oriented Development is an approach which integrates vehicle network system and pedestrian lane modes. These inappropriate growths generate a lot of environment problems. One of them is the lack of pedestrian lane and its linkage with housing, such as markets, stations, terminals and other public facilities, meanwhile pedestrian lanes have an important role for supporting their main activity. Especially pedestrian lanes in Indonesia which recently are still in ongoing debate as an important issue in town planning. This research will deliberate about the design criteria of pedestrian lane system become more walkable and responsive, which oriented to sidewalk users. This research was conducted through case study and data collecting by surveying, observing and mapping the physical condition of the area nearby railway station, terminal and traditional market. This study is expected to be able to help government and stakeholders as a reference in assembling the area around Padalarang railway station.

Abstract

Stasiun Padalarang menjadi simpul transportasi massal seiring fungsinya sebagai moda transportasi antar kota. Kawasan sekitar stasiun Padalarang mengalami penurunan kualitas fisik dan visual akibat perkembangan sektor informal yang tidak terkendali dan pertumbuhan bangunan liar dan tidak tertata. Penrunan kualitas fisik juga terjadi akibat adanya beberapa bangunan yang tidak digunakan lagi. Di lain pihak, kawasan stasiun Padalarang akhirnya mengalami ‘mati suri’, sehingga membutuhkan upaya revitalisasi. Salah satu pendekatan yang digunakan untuk meningkatkan vitalitas kawasan dicapai melalui kegiatan revitalisasi. Istilah revitalisasi diperkenalkan oleh Calthorpe (1993) dan digunakan oleh perancang kota untuk meningkatkan vitalitas kawasan dengan pemenuhan kebutuhan yang berorientasi pada manusia. Salah satu indikator keberhasilan revitalisasi adalah peningkatan intensitas penggunaan jalur pedestrian. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui pemetaan dan observasi terhadap aktivitas sirkulasi dan kondisi lapangan/lokasi di sekitar Stasiun Padalarang.
