Abstract

The New Renewable Energy Bill or better known as the EBT Bill is a discourse to provide a legal framework regarding policy stipulation, management, supply, and utilization of new and renewable energy. The EBT Bill is expected to be a structured and directed guideline in its implementation from a national to regional scale. With the enactment of the EBT Bill, the use of fossil energy must gradually stop. So it is necessary to look for other alternatives as a source of energy, especially in liquid fuels. One of the potentials that Indonesia as an archipelagic country can exploit is its marine products. E.cottonii is one of Indonesia's marine products that has the potential to be processed into bioethanol. The E.cottonii processing industry is spread across various regions of the Republic of Indonesia. Abundant production is also followed by an abundance of residual production waste. This waste is sometimes if not managed properly it will contribute to the emergence of environmental pollution. Therefore, the waste generated from the E.cottonii processing industry should be optimized by making bioethanol. E.cottonii waste which is used as bioethanol can be categorized as a 2nd generation biofuel, of course it will not disturb the stability of foodstuffs. This optimization step is carried out as a form of accelerating the use of new and renewable energy. It is also hoped that the utilization of this waste can be used as a source of liquid fuel to support operations within the ministry of defense.

Abstract

AbstrakBlok Ambalat memiliki luas 15.235 km² dan terletak di Kalimantan Utara, tepat di perbatasan Indonesia-Malaysia. Sengketa Ambalat semakin menjadi rumit ketika blok ini diidentifikasi kaya akan potensi sumber daya alam berupa minyak dan gas bumi. Saat ini area Ambalat terdapat blok East Ambalat yang dioperasikan oleh Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) East Ambalat. Namun, batas blok East Ambalat yang ditentukan oleh Pemerintah Indonesia tersebut mengalami tumpeng tindih dengan batas blok Shell milik Malaysia. Permasalahan tersebut membawa isu pertahanan menjadi sektor yang perlu ditegakkan untuk kedua negara saling mempertahankan haknya. Hingga saat ini, persoalan Ambalat masih belum menghasilkan penyelesaian akhir antara sengketa dua negara. Penyelasaian sengketa yang cukup lama ini memberikan dampak tersendiri bagi negara Indonesia, mulai dari otoritas secara politik, ekonomi, dan sosial budaya. Artikel ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif yang mencoba mendeskripsikan masalah menggunakan studi literatur.Kata Kunci: Perbatasan, Ambalat AbstractThe Ambalat block has an area of 15,235 km² and is located in North Kalimantan, right on the Indonesia-Malaysia border. The Ambalat dispute became even more complicated when the block was identified as rich in potential natural resources in the form of oil and gas. Currently, the Ambalat area has the East Ambalat block operated by Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) East Ambalat. However, the East Ambalat block boundary set by the Indonesian Government overlapped with malaysia's Shell block boundary. This problem brings the issue of defense into a sector that needs to be enforced for both countries to defend each other's rights. Until now, the Ambalat issue has not yet produced a final settlement between the two countries' dispute. The long-standing dispute dispute has its own impact on the Indonesian state, starting from the authority politically, economically, and socio-culturally. This article uses qualitative research methods that try to describe the problem using literature studies.Keywords: Border, Ambalat

Abstract

In response to rising global energy uncertainty and geopolitical fragmentation, Indonesia has accelerated its energy transition through the development of high-percentage biodiesel blends. This study analyzes diesel engine performance using B35 (2024) and B40 (2025) blends to assess their technical feasibility and impact on national energy resilience. Using a quantitative experimental method, daily energy production data from three diesel generator (PLTD) units were collected over four months under real operating conditions. The 2024 results show that B35 produced a consistent increase in monthly output, peaking at more than 1,025 MWh in April, indicating good combustion efficiency and operational stability. In contrast, 2025 data show that B40 exhibited more fluctuating performance, with peak output in March but a decline in April due to system load prioritization. Nevertheless, B40 demonstrated potential for better thermal efficiency and specific fuel consumption (SFC) if load management is optimized. These findings highlight the need for adaptive system management and infrastructure readiness to support the integration of high-percentage biodiesel, thereby strengthening Indonesia’s energy transition and national energy independence.Keywords - Biodiesel B40; Diesel Engine Performance; Energy Security; SFC; Renewable Transition.
