Abstract

This study aims to investigate the significant effect of TBLT-based digital storybook on eighth grade students’ speaking skill in SMP Laboratorium Undiksha Singaraja. This study was quantitative research which used quasi-experimental design. This research assigned two classes; experimental which consisted of 19 students and control class which consisted of 18 students. The two classes were given different treatment; TBLT-based digital storybook was treated in Experimental class and Teacher’ usual method was treated in Control Class. Speaking test was used to obtain speaking score. T-test formula was used to analyze the data. The result showed that there was a significant effect of TBLT-based digital storybook on students’ speaking skill. It was proven by the Sig. (2-tailed) value was 0.000. Thus, the significance value of the tests was less than 0.05. This shows that there is significant effect on students’ speaking skill who taught using TBLT-based digital storybook compared with student taught by using teacher usual method. Additionally, the effect size value measured using Cohen’s d was 1.291. This large effect means that the implementation of TBLT-based digital storybook can provide a very real influence in the improvement of students' speaking skills compared to the teacher’s usual method.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to look at the major impact that TBLT-based digital storybooks have on the reading abilities of ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 6 Singaraja. This study employed a quasi-experimental methodology and was quantitative in nature. Two classes were assigned to this study: a control class with 31 students and an experimental class with 33 students. The two classrooms received different treatments: the Experimental class used a digital storybook based on TBLT, while the Control class used the teacher's regular approach. The reading score was calculated using a reading test. The data was analyzed using the t-test formula. The outcome demonstrated that the TBLT-based digital storybook had a significant effect on the reading proficiency of the students. The Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.036 demonstrated this. As a result, the tests' significance value was less than 0.05. This demonstrates that, as compared to students taught using the teacher's regular method, there is a significant influence on the reading skills of students who are taught using TBLT-based digital storybooks. Furthermore, 0.537 was the effect size value as determined by Cohen's d. This significant impact indicates that, in comparison to the teacher's typical approach, the use of TBLT-based digital storybooks can have a very tangible impact on students' reading skill development.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology has transformed the educational landscape, making online assessment literacy an essential competency for prospective teachers. This study investigates the level of online assessment literacy among second-semester students in the English Language Education study program at Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha). Despite the absence of formal coursework on assessment at this stage, these students possess foundational knowledge from courses such as Wawasan Kependidikan (Educational Insights) and Perkembangan Peserta Didik (Student Development). A descriptive quantitative approach was employed, involving 121 students who completed a validated questionnaire comprising 28 items designed to measure their competencies across seven dimensions: Choosing (CH), Developing (DE), Administering (AD), Using-Decision (UD), Using-Grading (UG), Communication (CO), and Recognizing Ethics (RE). The findings reveal that the overall online assessment literacy of the participants falls within the “moderate” category, with notable variations across the dimensions. Female students performed better in Administering (AD) and Recognizing Ethics (RE), while male students excelled in Communication (CO) and Developing (DE). These results underscore the need for targeted strategies in subsequent semesters to address specific gaps and enhance overall competency. This study contributes to the literature by addressing research gaps on early-stage pre-service teachers’ online assessment literacy and offers actionable recommendations for curriculum development in teacher education programs.

Abstract

This research was conducted at SMA N 1 Manggis academic year 2022-2023. The purpose of this research is to analyze the level of learning burnout among SMA Negeri 1 Manggis students. Learning burnout is a condition in which students are emotionally detached, unmotivated, and have a negative attitude toward the learning process. This study used a quantitative descriptive method with data collected through questionnaires completed by 244 students from twelfth grade. The questionnaire consists of 30 questions valid with a reliability score of 0.919. The variables examined included emotional dimension, physical dimension, cognitive dimension, and loss of motivation. The research found that students in grades XII have a medium-level category of learning burnout, with a mean score of 80.91. Each indicator in the dimension specifies a different level category. The level showed the respondent experienced learning burnout in all aspects. Factors such as academic performance, learning methods, body condition, family support, and poor social environment are identified as primary causes of learning burnout. This research provides recommendations for school to improve their programs.
