Abstract

Stroke rehabilitation is a long and complicated process that the majority of rehabilitation to be completed once the patient returns home (community-based stroke rehabilitation). A caregiver supports a stroke survivor in performing daily activities. Because of that responsibilities,caregiver feels physically and psychologically drained. The aim of this study was to find out the effects of psychoeducation on stroke patients' caregiver burden. The study used a purposive random sample technique with a total of 34 respondents to perform a quantitative study with a quasi-experimental design of two groups pre- and post-test in July 2021 in West Java. Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI) questionnaires were used to collect data of caregiving burden. The results of this study indicate that there was a significant difference between the intervention and control groups using the paired t-test (p=0.002) and a significant effect value utilizing the ANCOVA test (p=0.000). The Conclusion are Psychoeducation has a considerable impact on stroke patients' caregiver burden. In caring for stroke patients at home, a nurse can provide psychoeducation and caregiver supplies.

Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes Mellitus disease is a serious public health problem faced in the world, diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs because the pancreas does not produce enough insulin (hormones that regulate blood sugar or glucose), as a result of which metabolic disorders are characterized by sugar levels that exceed normal limits. Self care diabetes consists of independent actions performed by diabetic clients in daily life with the aim to control blood sugar which includes dietary activities, physical exercise, monitoring blood sugar levels, taking medications and foot care. Diabetes Self Management Education (DSME) is a diabetes education that can be a place for diabetic patients to get education and maintain the behavior of diabetic patients.  Objective: To improve self care in people with diabetes mellitus through diabetes self management education against Method: This public service was conducted by discussion using booklet as media information Result: All the participants were attend 100% for all sessions. The self care result shos improvement after DSME have been delivered. Conclusion: The results of this community service show an increase in self-care behavior in individuals with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus after giving Diabetes Self Management Education. As for educational activities can be carried out by involving more participants and can also involve the patient's family in the educational process with the hope of increasing family support for patients when carrying out self-care.

Abstract

Latar Belakang. Gangguan stroke sebagian (parsial stroke) membuat keterlibatan terhadap keluarga untuk melakukan perawatan kepada pasien stroke, seperti membantu Activity Daily Living (ADL), memberi dukungan untuk mengurangi emosional pasien dan dalam menjalani rehabilitasi sehingga diperlukan adanya family caregiver. Tujuan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara beban keluarga yang merawat pasien stroke terhadap kualitas hidup caregiver stroke. Metode: Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan metode kuantitatif, dengan rancangan penelitian crosssectional dengan melibatkan 146 keluarga sebagai caregiver pasien stroke. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu Zarit Burden interview (ZBI) untuk mengukur burden caregiver dan Adult Carer Quality of Life (AC-QoL) untuk mengukur kualitas hidup. Hasil: Sebagian besar responden berusia 25-50 tahun (69,9%), sebagian besar berjenis kelamin perempuan (62.3%), sebagian besar responden mempunyai pendidikan terakhir di pendidikan dasar (77.4). Tidak ada hubungan antara beban (0,083) dengan kualitas hidup family caregiver stroke, namun terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada skor kualitas hidup caregiver yang berpendidikan tinggi dan rendah (0,007). Kesimpulan: Tidak ada hubungan antara burden dengan kualitas hidup caregiver, namun penting untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan yang adekuat bagi family caregiver terkait proses perawatan pasien stroke. Perlu adanya pembinaan, konseling, maupun konsultasi bagi family caregiver untuk meminimalisir beban serta memenuhi kebutuhan pengetahuan perawatan pasien.
