Abstract

The Budha Paksa Pakarana has the means of worship as its must requirement possessed in performing its duties to lead and guide the Hindus in carrying out the ceremony. The means consists of rarapan, wanci kembang ura, wanci bhija, wanci samsam, wanci ghanda, pamandyangan, sesirat, pengasepan, pedamaran, patarana or lungka-lungka, saab/kereb/ hood, genta (genta padma), bajra, canting, and penastan. When a Pandita processing a ceremony, he is wearing attributes and clothing of Hindu high priest such as wastra, kampuh, kawaca, pepetet/ petet, santog, sinjang, slimpet/ sampet/ paragi, kekasang, astha bharana/ guduita, gondola, karna bharana, kanta bharana, rudrakacatan aksamala, gelangkana, angustha bharana, and an amakuta or the so-called bhawa or ketu. The results of observation and analysis show that the meaning of the Budha Paksa Pakarana a means of liaison between a pandita from the Buddhist group with Sang Hyang Buddha (God). The Panditas of the Buddha Paksa group have certain duties and obligations and agem-ageman to worship in a great ceremony of Hinduism in Bali. This typical Pandita performs worship for the middle realm (Bwah Loka), other than Pandita Shiva to worship for the upper realm (Swah Loka) and Pandita Bhujangga Waisnawa has the duty to perform worship for the underworld (Bhur Loka)

Abstract

Sebuah tradisi yang dijaga dengan baik merupakan salah satu alat penyaring bentuk serbuan kehidupan modern. Semuanya bisa dipilah, mana yang baik dan mana yang buruk, dengan mengacu pada ajaran tradisi yang memiliki nilai-nilai luhur. Umat Hindu memiliki keyakinan bahwa segala sesuatu yang ada disebabkan oleh suatu hal yang ada atau terjadi sebelumnya. Dari keyakinan tersebut memunculkan sebuah konsep hukum alam yang disebut dengan Karmaphala, atau hasil dari perbuatan. Sehubungan dengan hal tersebut, sebuah upacara yaitu Warak Keruron merupakan salah satu cara untuk membebaskan roh bayi dari belenggu yang mengikatnya di dunia agar sang roh dapat kembali ke asalnya. Bilamana hal ini tidak dilaksanakan tentu dapat menimbulkan dampak yang buruk bagi kehidupan sang ibu maupun sang ayah. Selama ini istilah Warak Keruron sangat jarang terdengar di masyarakat, padahal upacara ini sendiri sudah ada sejak dahulu. Warak Keruron bertujuan serta berfungsi untuk membersihkan atau mensucikan kondisi seorang ibu secara psikologis maupun jasmani. Roh yang di upacarai akan kembali ke alamnya dengan jalan sempurna sedangkan bagi orang tua yang masih mengharapkan keturunan diberikan kemudahan dan siap secara lahir bathin. Demikian pentingnya upacara Warak Keruron sebagai bentuk paling sederhana dalam upacara Pitra Yadnya dan sebaiknya dilakukan oleh pasangan suami istri atau bagi yang mengalami keguguran.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of inflation on household expenditure in Bali through the philosophical lens of Panca Kumaligi reincarnation, integrating macroeconomic analysis with Hindu spiritual values. The main issue addressed is that household expenditure under inflation is commonly analyzed solely from an economic perspective, while cultural and religious dimensions remain largely overlooked. This research employs a multidisciplinary mixed-methods approach conducted over two years. The first year focuses on quantitative analysis using secondary data on inflation, household expenditure, and macroeconomic indicators obtained from official institutions such as Statistics Indonesia and Bank Indonesia. The second year emphasizes qualitative exploration through in-depth interviews, observations, and thematic analysis involving Balinese Hindu households, customary leaders, and religious figures. The findings indicate that inflation significantly affects household expenditure patterns, purchasing power, and consumption priorities. However, in Balinese Hindu society, expenditure decisions are also strongly influenced by spiritual obligations, ritual commitments, and cultural values embedded in Panca Kumaligi philosophy. Inflation often creates a tension between economic rationality and sacred responsibilities, particularly in financing life-cycle ceremonies such as pawiwahan. The study further demonstrates that household financial behavior reflects an ongoing effort to maintain equilibrium between material needs and spiritual harmony. It concludes that integrating macroeconomic analysis with Hindu philosophical perspectives provides a more comprehensive understanding of household expenditure behavior under inflationary pressures. This research contributes to the development of cultural economics and religious economics by offering an innovative conceptual framework that links inflation, household expenditure, and spiritual values within the Balinese Hindu context.
