Abstract

Tiwai onion bulb extract (EBT) contain phenol compounds that be used as an antioxidant ingredients.   Utilizalion tiwai onion bulb extract as an antioxidant is expected to increase the value and  utilization tiwai onion bulbs.  This research  was conducted  to obtain  tiwai onion  bulb  extrect concentration as antioxidant ingredients of coconut oil. Extraction process is  done  by  adding  96% ethanol  solvent /0  onion  liwai  flour  and  tnen incorporated into tile glass beaker. allowed to stand for 24 hours and then filtered to obtain a liquid extract. Rendement liwai onion bulb extract solvent 96% ethanol is 10,2%. The average value of total phenol content of onion bulb  extract  tiwai  solvent  96%  ethanol  is  0,043±0,001ppm. Tile liquid extract was then performed vacuum evaporation and the obtained furter extract tiwai and then put in oven vacuum. Extract obtained is then inserted into tne coconut oil, and then analyzed with the parameters of color, odor. proxide number and acid number, with storage time for 3 months. Based on test result, it is obteined that the concentretstions of tiwai onion bulb extract 100-200 mg/kg was able to maintain storage time of coconut oil until the 3 mont period specified in the study.

Abstract

In the manufacture of detergents still using surfactants (which serves as an emulsifier) of crude oil in the form of the AS. (alcohol sulfate) and LAS (linear alkylbenzene sulfonate), where this type of surfactant cannot be degraded by microorganisms when discharged into the environment, causing environmental pollution. Methyl ester sulfonate surfactant is an anionic surfactant which has a composition of C16 - C18 fatty acids are capable of acting against nature deterjensinya, while the C12 - C14 fatty acids contribute to the foaming effect. The purpose of this study was to look for the formulation of methyl ester sulfonate (MES) the right to produce a good detergent by using materials such as methyl ester sulfonate surfactant self-made, methyl ester sulfonate and sodium lauryl market Ester Sulfate (SLS) with a concentration of 15 %, 20 % and 25 %. Detergent results of the study have high detergency ( net ) compared with the detergency of detergent commercial, have a stable emulsion stability, the stability of the foam/foam detergent power made from methyl ester sulfonate surfactant produces less foam, compared with a detergent made from SLS and surfactant SNI 06-4075-1996 standards.

Abstract

The characteristic of compound and antioxidant activities of kunyit putih  (Curcuma zedoaria (Berg.) Roscoe) extracted with alcohol has been studied. The purpose of this study is to determine the characteristic of compound and antioxidant of kunyit putih. The content of total phenol and total flavonoid were determined by visible spectrophotometry method, the activity of antioxidant was measured by the method of Kim and two methods were used to determine reactive oxygen species. The two method were lipid peroxide test with iron thiocyanate and tiobarbitutit acid (TBA). The results showed that the antioxidant activity of kunyit putih includes 1 (one) gram total phenol of crude extract of kunyit putih contains phenol that equivalent to 4.68 mg of galic acid, 1 (one) gram total flavonoid of crude extract of kunyit putih equivalent to 1.83 cuecetin, the capture of free radicals of 4000 µg/mL kunyit putih is 51,76 and it is equal to 10 µg/mL of vitamin C at 51.70. In the test of thiocyanate, the species of reactive oxygen of 50 µg/mL kunyit putih extract in the fifth day was about 1.32 equivalent to 50.µg/mL curcumin at 0.89. In the test of titriburit acid, the species of reactive oxygen of 400 µg/mL of kunyit putih extract in the fifth day was 40.20% fewer than the one from 50 µg/mL curcumin that was 97.64%.
