Abstract

Citrus aurantifolia leaves have several pharmacological properties such as antibacterial and antioxidant activity. The main objective of this study was to determine the antioxidant activity and obtain the best gel formula from the lime leaves ethanolic extracts. Five different concentrations of Citrus aurantifolia leaves extract namely FI, FII, FIII, FIV, and FV were tested for its antioxidant activity using the DPPH method. Furthermore, the lime leaves extract gel were formulated using carbopol 940. The gels were then evaluated for various parameters including organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, spreadability and viscosity to select best formulation. The extraction process was conducted using maceration method. The results of the DPPH radical scavenging activity showed that lime leaves extract with concentration 60,84 ppm has the preeminent IC50 value. The preparation of lime leaf ethanol extract gel obtained was clear white, clear green, green, brownish green, dark green, homogeneous, and had a characteristic smell of lime leaf. Evaluation of dispersion of 5-5.4 cm, pH of 5.1-5.8, and viscosity of 4.44-6.39 Pa.s. From the evaluation results, it can be concluded that formula 2 is the best formula.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder and characterized by hyperglycemia and disorders of the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, proteins. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of Diabetes mellitus patients, the pattern of treatment carried out, and appropriate anti diabetic in terms of cost and effectiveness aspects at Abdul Wahab Sjahranie Regional Hospital Samarinda. The study was conducted retrospectively on medical record records. The results of 115 patients showed that most Diabetes mellitus sufferers were suffered by man with an age range of 56-65 years. The most common use of anti-diabetic in Diabetes mellitus patients is bolus insulin and combination of bolus and basal insulin. Anti-diabetic with minimal cost or the most minimal cost are the cost of using bolus insulin at a cost of Rp 8.865.248,-. The antidiabetics combination of basal and bolus is more effective reducing blood sugar levels while 174,86 mg/dL with an average cost effectiveness ratio (ACER) value of Rp 57.199,22,-.

Abstract

Cananga essential oil has potential as an antidepressant and a relaxant for the nervous system, containing a compound, namely linalool from the monoterpene. The innovation of topical pharmacy preparations with the active ingredient of cananga essential oil is a useful. The purpose of this study was to formulate cananga essential oil with concentrations used of 1%, 2% and 4%. The results showed that formulas I, II and III had met the physical quality evaluation. The results of the organoleptic test of the three formulations were in the form of a liquid, a characteristic odor of cananga flower along with eucalyptus oleum and a light yellow color. The results of the pH stability test obtained an average of 4.2 formulations, 4.9 formulations II and 5 formulations III. The homogeneity test results from formulations I, II and III obtained homogeneous results. The results of the anti-irritation test of formulations I, II and III did not cause irritation. The overall results of the preference test showed that the panelists preferred the liniment preparation at a concentration of 4%. Concluded that the formulation of liniment with the active ingredient of cananga essential oil produced preparations that met the physical characteristics and hedonic tests.
