Abstract

The low political participation among first-time voters and the strong reliance of Generation Z on social media highlight the need for accessible political education. This study aims to design a social campaign titled “Politik Gak Ribet!” as a basic political literacy medium for Gen Z. The campaign integrates motion graphics as the primary medium with interactive zines as a supporting medium, utilizing a design thinking approach to ensure engaging and meaningful communication. The campaign addresses four key topics: the importance of collective goals through discussion, fundamental knowledge of the electoral system, the impact of social media on political opinion, and the issue of political apathy. Visual elements include folk-art-style children's illustrations, fable-based metaphors, and simple interactive games such as crosswords to foster emotional and cognitive engagement. The results of this design project indicate the potential of visually driven and interactive media to serve as alternative educational tools that resonate with young audiences. The campaign is expected to promote critical awareness and encourage active civic engagement among Gen Z in Indonesia’s political sphere.

Abstract

Tourism signage in cultural heritage areas plays a crucial role as a visual information element that enhances visitors’ experiences and reinforces the destination’s identity. Unsynchronized signage design and placement can reduce tourist comfort and weaken the overall attractiveness of the area. This study aims to examine the existing conditions and identify the visual and informational characteristics of tourism signage in the cultural heritage areas of Banda Aceh. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach through direct observation, visual documentation, and a literature review on wayfinding design and visual communication principles. The findings indicate that the integration of design, cultural context, and informational functions is essential to create a meaningful visitor experience. Classification based on visual design characteristics reveals significant variations in typology, quality, and design integration across locations. Most signage is directive or regulatory in nature, with limited interpretive elements that convey historical narratives effectively. Wayfinding signage is relatively adequate in key points such as PLTD Apung but lacks holistic integration in more complex areas like Pintu Khop and Baiturrahman Grand Mosque. In terms of visual design, inconsistencies were found in readability, materials, and typography, which often fail to align with local cultural identity. Overall, Banda Aceh’s signage system remains suboptimal in supporting the educational and narrative functions of its heritage tourism.

Abstract

Energy conservation remains a challenging practice to implement in office. Several factors hinder energy-saving behaviors in the office, including physical factors such as the numerous electronic devices that heavily rely on electricity, the need for lighting to illuminate workspaces, thermal comfort dependent on air conditioning, and security as well as safety measures often supported by the use of 24-hour surveillance cameras. Additionally, habitual or ingrained behaviors also pose barriers to energy conservation efforts. This study aims to explore employees' perceptions of the importance of energy conservation in the office.

Abstract

Mosques are works of Islamic architecture that are closest to our everyday life. Masjid Tuha Gunong Kleng is located in West Aceh, and is one of the mosques that can represent the development of ancient Indonesian mosque architecture from time to time. Visually, Masjid Tuha Gunong Kleng shows many similarities with other ancient mosques in Indonesia. Eventhough Masjid Tuha Gunong Kleng has been designated as a cultural heritage site by the Aceh Cultural Heritage Conservation Center, in-depth studies about Masjid Tuha Gunong Kleng is still difficult to get, both from either architectural or historical perspective.
