Abstract

Mayoritas, masyarakat rural hidup dari pertanian. Menurunnya sumber daya manusia mengakibatkan diperlukan alat yang dapat membantu petani untuk mengolah lahannya. Akan tetapi, alat pertanian tidak selalu digunakan sepanjang tahun. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari perancangan ini adalah mendesain alat mekanis yang multifungsi untuk digunakan di daerah rural, terutama dataran tinggi. Pencarian data menggunakan metode studi literatur mengenai penelitian sebelumnya mengenai kebutuhan transportasi di daerah rural serta pertanian untuk mengetahui kondisi secara umum. Interview serta observasi di Desa Cisondari, Jawa Barat dilakukan untuk mencari informasi mengenai kebutuhan secara khusus. Dari studi literatur serta interview dan obervasi memberikan kesimpulan yang sama mengenai adanya kebutuhan alat transportasi yang multifungsi untuk menunjang kehidupan sosial masyarakat rural. Akan tetapi, belum ada alat transportasi yang dapat digunakan oleh petani untuk mengolah lahan di dataran tinggi. Oleh karena itu diperlukan sebuah konsep alat mekanis yang dapat digunakan untuk berbagai aktifitas di lahan serta untuk kebutuhan sosial seperti mengangkut barang dan manusia. Keilmuan penulis terbatas pada desain dan konsep, maka diperlukan pengembangan dari keilmuan lain untuk menyempurnakan konsep desain. Meskipun demikian, dengan adanya konsep desain pada penelitian ini, para pembuat alat mekanis dan multifungsi untuk desa dapat menggunakannya sebagai pertimbangan dalam mengembangkan produknya, sehingga dapat menjawab kebutuhan masyarakat rural.

Abstract

Itinerant tailors in urban Indonesia often work in prolonged static postures within mobile workstations lacking ergonomic support. This study examines the prevalence of musculoskeletal complaints and postural risks among 30 male itinerant tailors in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta. Using a mixed-method approach, quantitative data were collected through the Nordic Body Map (NBM) and Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA), while qualitative insights were obtained via semi-structured interviews. Results showed that 100% of participants fell into high or very high ergonomic risk categories, with prevalent discomfort in the buttocks, lower back, and hips. No statistically significant correlation was found between age or work duration and complaint severity, indicating that workstation design plays a more critical role. Interview findings revealed self-adapted seating modifications and a strong demand for portable ergonomic improvements. The study highlights the urgent need for anthropometrically informed seating solutions compatible with mobile informal labor settings. These findings inform context-sensitive design strategies that prioritize adjustability, user comfort, and occupational health in underserved worker populations.

Abstract

This research investigates postural risks faced by batik stamp workers at Batik Komar Bandung, employing Hierarchical Task Analysis (HTA) and Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) to assess worker ergonomics. While batik holds immense cultural value, there is a lack of ergonomic research focusing on the well-being of workers in traditional batik production. The case study at Batik Komar Bandung involved 11 workers aged between 20 to 50 years, where work activities were documented through video and photographs, followed by HTA task analysis and REBA postural risk assessment. The findings reveal that the stamping stage, which constitutes 86.85% of the process, presents significant ergonomic risks, with a REBA score of 10 indicating high postural risk. Workers frequently use a ±1.1 kg stamp while maintaining bent postures for prolonged periods, contributing to potential musculoskeletal disorders. These findings underscore the urgent need for ergonomic interventions within the batik industry. The study proposes potential solutions, including workstation redesign, tool modification, and the implementation of regular rest periods to mitigate health risks. By addressing the ergonomic challenges in traditional batik production, this research highlights the importance of worker well-being and sustainability in the batik industry. Additionally, the study demonstrates the practical application of HTA and REBA in identifying postural risks and formulating effective interventions, contributing valuable insights to the growing field of ergonomic research in cultural industries.
