Abstract

Water hyacinth is an invasive plant that often causes a decrease in environmental quality. Water hyacinth composts were done by chopping water hyacinth and mixing the chopped with cow dung with a ratio of 3: 1, and commercial bioactivators. The study was conducted in two groups of oil palm seedlings and each group consisted of 5 treatments The first group consisted of P10 = 100% subsoil, P11 = 100% water hyacinth compost, P12 = subsoil and sand + water hyacinth compost (3:1), P13 = subsoil and sand + water hyacinth compost (1:1), P14 = subsoil and sand + water hyacinth compost (1:3). The second group consists of P20 = 100% subsoil, P21 = 100 water hyacinth compost, P22 = subsoil + water hyacinth compost (3:1), P23 = subsoil + water hyacinth (1:1), P24 = subsoil + water hyacinth compost (1:3). The results of the study on group one of palm oil seedlings showed that 25% subsoil and sand planting media + 75% water hyacinth compost gave the highest plant growth at 3 BST. Group two plants showed that the application of water hyacinth compost on the planting medium had a significant effect on plant height successively in the treatment P23 = 50% subsoil + 50% water hyacinth (22.5 cm). Invasive water hyacinth potentialy to be used as an alternative mixture of growing media for crop cultivation.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the percentage of waste carried using a fruit basket and jerigen, and get a comparison of work performance using jerigen and brondolan basket containers. The study was conducted at PT Wahana Plantation and Product located in Sona Village, Gandis District, Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan on March 29 to April 6 2019. This research used the direct application method and field observations. The results showed that the percentage of waste in fruit basket containers was smaller (4.8%) than jerigen (6.3%). Work performance obtained from the fruit basket container was higher (0.93 hk/ha) compared to jerigen (0.70 hk/ha).

Abstract

Oryctes rhinoceros or horn beetle is one of the important pests of oil palm plants. These pests can cause very serious losses for palm oil production, so that proper control is needed so that pest attacks can be suppressed. This research aims to determine the concentration of Metarhizium anisopliae which is the most effective in controlling Oryctes rhinoceros larvae and understanding the difference between infected Oryctes rhinoceros and those not infected by Metarhizium anisopliae fungi. This research was conducted at Afdeling Charlie, Estate Berlian 1, PT Palmina Utama in Desa Cinta Puri Darussalam Village, Banjar District, Banjarmasin Regency, South Kalimantan Selatan in 3-30 Mei 2018. The experiment was used a descriptive method with 4 treatments: control (A0), 1 gr Metarhizium anisopliae / l water (A1), 2 gr Metarhizium anisopliae / l water (A2), 3 gr Metarhizium anisopliae / l water (A3). Each treatments were two replications so the total unit of experiments were 8 samples. The result showed that the highest mortality consentration of Oryctes rhinoceros larvae found in the treatment of 3 grams of Metarhizium anisopliae / l water (A3) of 47.50%. Oryctes rhinoceros larvae infected by Metarhizium anisopliae showed different conditions than the larvae of Oryctes rhinoceros which were not infected by Metarhizium anisopliae.

Abstract

The oil palm empty bunches waste is one of the solid wastes from oil palm plantations that can be processed into compos. The composting process can be assisted by biological agents such as Trichoderma sp. This research aims to determine the effects of Trichoderma sp. on the nutrient content of oil palm empty bunches compost and obtain the best dose of Trichoderma sp. This research was conducted at Laboratory of Biologi and Teaching Farm of Politeknik Kelapa Sawit Citra Widya Edukasi, Bekasi from November 2019 to Maret 2020. The research method used was a one factor completely randomized design with 3 treatments: A0 (control), A1 (100 ml Trichoderma sp.), and A2 (200 ml Trichoderma sp.). Each treatments were 3 replications, and each replications consisted of 3 sample plants so the total unit of experiments were 9 units. Data were analized with analysis of variance with α 5 %, If there is a significant treatment effect, the further analysis using LSD test. The result showed that application of Trichoderma sp. for oil palm empty bunches composting only significant affect on N-total, phosphorus, and potassium. However, it did not significantly affect on C-organik and C/N. The best dose of Trichoderma sp. was A0 (control) from the parameters N-total, phosphorus, and potassium.

Abstract

Controlled Droplet Application (CDA) is a herbicide spraying tool that uses a battery dynamo power and a disc-shaped nozzle, which can dispense a more even spray solution. Spraying activities will also be completed faster with high work performance. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of the knapsack sprayer and CDA, as well as the mortality rate of weeds after the application of the two tools. Parameters observed were spraying time, work performance, weed mortality rate and cost comparison. The results showed that the CDA sprayer was more effective in controlling weeds, because it was able to spray an area of ??1381.6 m2/tank and was also more efficient at a cost of Rp. 53,508/ha. Meanwhile, the knapsack sprayer is capable of spraying an area of ??188.4 m2/tank at a cost of Rp 89,436/ha. Weed mortality rate after herbicide application with CDA sprayer reached 99%, whereas with knapsack sprayer it only reached 90%.

Abstract

Ketersediaan unsur hara di dalam tanah pada media tanam bibit kelapa sawit sangat penting untuk diperhatikan, terutama karena ukuran media tanam yang terbatas. Hal ini membuat media tanam yang digunakan harus mengandung unsur hara yang cukup, memiliki tekstur dan struktur tanah yang tepat. Cendawan Trichoderma sp. menjadi salah satu alternatif meningkatkan kualitas media tanam bibit, karena mikroorganisme ini mampu mendegradasi bahan organik menjadi bentuk sederhana sehingga diserap tanaman. Metode penggenangan juga dapat dikombinasikan agar memudahkan proses penyiraman dan lebih efisien dalam penggunaan tenaga kerja. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendapatkan alternatif bahan dan cara, mengetahui pengaruhnya terhadap pertumbuhan dan mendapatkan kombinasi perlakuan yang tepat untuk bibit kelapa sawit di pembibitan awal. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan dan Laboratorium Biologi Politeknik Kelapa Sawit CWE, mulai Desember 2018 sampai Juli 2019. Penelitian ini disusun dalam Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) Faktorial, faktor pertama adalah dosis Trichoderma sp. yaitu A1(0 mg), A2(5 mg), A3(10 mg), A4(15 mg). Faktor kedua adalah genangan air yaitu C1(5 cm) dan C2(10 cm). Analisis yang digunakan adalah ANOVA dan Uji Lanjut DMRT. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa Trichoderma sp. dan sistem penggenangan dapat dijadikan bahan dan sistem penyiraman bibit kelapa sawit. Pemberian Trichoderma sp. berpengaruh nyata secara tunggal terhadap tinggi bibit umur 2 dan 3 Bulan Setelah Tanam (BST) dan diameter batang 2 BST, sedangkan penggenangan pada diameter batang 1 BST. Interaksi nyata kedua faktor hanya terlihat pada jumlah daun 2 BST. Kombinasi perlakuan terbaik terdapat pada perlakuan 10 mg Trichoderma sp. dengan ketinggian air 5 cm.

Abstract

Cow dung and leaves of Pueraria javanica are organic wastes that highly available and content nutrients. Generally, there is a lot of Pueraria javanica’s leaf waste in oil palm plantations that will have mature period. Both of these wastes could be used as liquid organic fertilizer that has advantage of being easier to apply and could be watered at the same time. It will also more profitable when the application doing in the dry season. The purpose of this study are to obtain alternative organic waste and determine the nutrient content of the best liquid organic fertilizer. This research conducted at PT Rea Kaltim, East Kalimantan, from May to September 2022. This research used a descriptive method consisting of observation, literature study and interviews. Liquid organic fertilizer treatment consisted of 4 mixtures, there are P0 (1 kg of cow dung + 0 kg of Pueraria javanica), P1 (1 kg + 0,25), P2 (1 kg + 0,5 kg), P3 (1 kg + 0,75 kg), and P4 (1 kg + 1 kg). The result of research showed that cow dung and Pueraria javanica could be used as alternative organic materials for the manufacture of liquid organic fertilizer. Based on the results of analysis, the best nutrient content in liquid organic fertilizer was found in the treatment of 1 kg of cow manure and 1 kg of Pueraria javanica with 0,21% nitrogen, 0,12% phosphorus and 0,20% potassium.
