Abstract

Air merupakan kebutuhan dasar bagi manusia, yang harus tersedia dalam kuantitas yang cukup dan kualitas yang memenuhi syarat. Kontaminasi zat-zat kimia yang melebihi batas aman pada air minum dalam jangka waktu tertentu dapat membahayakan kesehatan. Mangan merupakan logam yang keberadaannya jika dikonsumsi berlebihan dapat menimbulkan sindrom manga- nism. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui penurunan Mangan pada air sumur gali di Du- sun Kauman di Tamanan, Banguntapan, Bantul. setelah dilakukan penyaringan menggunakan filter resin. Penelitian ini merupakan kuasi eksperimen dengan desain pre-test post-test. Obyek penelitian adalah enam sumur dengan kandungan Mangan tinggi di Dusun Kauman Tamanan Banguntapan Bantul. Pemeriksaan parameter dilakukan di laboratorium BBTKLPP Provinsi Yog- yakarta. Hasil studi menunjukkan adanya perbedaan bermakna antara kadar Mangan sebelum dan sesudah penyaringan (nilai p=0,002). Penyaringan dengan filter resin secara rata-rata dapat menurunkan kadar Mangan sebesar 92,32%.

Abstract

One of chemical requirement for drinking water is hardness. Water with high level hardness isvery dangerous for human health, specifically for kidneys. MPN coliform as one of bacteriologicalrequirements for water quality is an indicator for excreta pollution. The aim of the study was todecrease water hardness and coliform in water wells of Jimbung Villages in Kalikotes, Klaten byinstalling ZeRAK filter, which consists of zeolite, resin, chlorine and activated charcoal. The studywas an experiment with pre-test and post-test design. As a study sample were 45 wells that wereconnected with plumbing in that village. The results show that before the filtration, the average ofwater hardness was 270 mg/l, while post-filtration it was 44 mg/l (84%). Coliform pre-filtrationwere in a range between 111 and 1898 MPN per 100 ml, and after treatment they were between0 and 7 MPN. Statistically, the differences are significant (both p-values <0,001). To conclude,ZeRAK filter used in this study is effective to decrease water hardness and coliform.

Abstract

Diarrhea is still a public health problem in Indonesia with relatively high morbidity and mortalityrate and potential to cause outbreak. One of the causes of diarrhea is contamination of Muscadomestica flies. Various types of fly control can be implemented. This study proposed an innovationdevice on fly control, called “adhesive tree”, which is categorized to physical mechanicalcontrol. The purpose of this study was to reveal the capability of this device at chicken farm inPlalangan Village of Pendowoharjo, Sleman. The study was quasi experiment with post testonly control group design. The data were analysed by using independent sample t-test. Theresults showed that adhesive tree, in average, were able to trap more flies than conventionaladhesive paper did. i.e. 24 flies compared to 4 flies. The p-value obtained from statistical analysiswas 0,001 which confirms that the difference is significant. Therefore, adhesive tree hasbetter ability than conventional adhesive paper in trapping Musca domestica flies.
