Abstract

Due to Covid-19 pandemic, most of teaching learning process was not conducted at class. The teacher and students had the teaching learning process via online on the internet. This situation occurred serious problem for the students related to the teaching learning goals. Most of students found more difficulties in learning English. Less interactions at class made their vocabulary knowledge and ability became low. They had no chance to explore their vocabulary. In fact, they were difficult to mention some vocabularies around them. They also felt difficult to share their opinion by using English. This research aimed to know the difference, increase or improvement and effect of Duolingo usage on students’ vocabulary mastery. This research was a quantitative approach. The research location was at MTs PAB 1 Helvetia on Jl. Veteran Pasar IV Helvetia with sixty students as the sample. The sample was divided into Experimental and Control group. The Experimental group was taught vocabulary by using Duolingo while the Control group was taught vocabulary by common method. The students’ score result was the primer data and analyzed by using T-Test formula. The calcualtion used SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) 20.0 to count the data as valid as it was. The research finding proved that there was a significance difference, increase or improvement and effect of Duolingo usage on students vocabulary mastery. Duolingo usage affected students’ vocabulary mastery of the seventh-grade students at MTs PAB 1 Helvetia. Keywords : Duolingo, Vocabulary Mastery

Abstract

Families are the closest environment to children. As family members, parents have important responsibilities in children's education, so it can be said that parents in the family are the first and main educators. Parents can start introducing their children to basic literacy at a young age as the first step towards developing more advanced reading skills. Early literacy is the stage at which children begin to read and write. Early literacy instruction offers a number of advantages, such as expanding vocabulary, enhancing comprehension and absorption of knowledge, enhancing cognitive abilities, enhancing verbal language proficiency, and many more. Family literacy programs (FLPs) are programs designed to support young children's reading development by increasing the frequency and quality of literacy experiences that they encounter at home. Regarding that explanation, this research was done to present the family role on children’s literacy. The research was in qualitative method by using library research approach. From the journal findings, it was stated that parents must take an active role in the family's literacy efforts. Family literacy characteristics, such as signs of parental support, a reading culture within the family, a love of books, and book collections, can all assist pupils develop a love of reading, especially when they are at home. If this is done, the family's literacy culture will be strengthened, which will increase interest in reading.

Abstract

The KKNT program requires thought, energy and science and technology in planning and implementing development. People are often trapped in misinformation and the source of the truth is unclear. People also don't know the importance of critical thinking, so they still put hate speech on social media. And there is no digital literacy to prevent hoax news. To overcome this problem, socialization was held which aimed to improve the critical thinking skills of the anti-hoax community. This Community Service is located in Suka Damai Village, where the KKNT program is implemented. The methods used in this training are lectures, discussions and demonstrations. The results of the training show that information literacy using the Analisadaily E-Paper media can be used as an alternative in improving the critical thinking skills of the anti-hoax community. Information literacy activities using the Analisadaily E-Paper which can be uploaded via digital applications have been described as citizens who can use technology and the internet effectively. This is reflected positively in avoiding inappropriate language, hate speech, and not believing in false information.

Abstract

Speaking is typically a crucial component of the English unit since it allows students to express and communicate their thoughts and opinions. Possessing strong communication skills allows students to discover who they are during the teaching-learning process. As a result, in order to encourage and assist the students, the teacher must determine the best way to spark their interest and enhance their proficiency in learning English. The excellent and contemporary Cake application can be utilized as supplementary material for speech classes. It encourages engaged and joyful learning among the pupils in the classroom. With the Cake application, they can concentrate more on honing their speaking skills and don't have to worry about making mistakes when they practice speaking because the app provides immediate feedback. Cake application also supports students in learning vocabulary. They can gain more vocabulary by learning dialogues from Cake application.
