Abstract

Ayam Kampung Unggul Sinjai (AKUSI) is a type of native chicken that is slaugthered when culled, has tough and easily rancid. The marination process using pineapple peel powder is expected toreduce meat rancidity. The purpose of this study was to carry out a marination process usingpineapple peel powder at different times and its effect on meat rancidity. This study used aCompletely Randomized Design (CRD) factorial pattern with 2 factors, namely the marinationprocess using pineapple peel powder and different times. The variables tested in this study werethe pH and TBA value. The data obtained were analyzed by analysis of variance and further testedthe Least Significant Difference (LSD). The results showed that culled AKUSI rancidity could bereduced by marination process using pineapple peel powder. The provision of pineapple peelpowder at 15% with 90 minutes marination time was the best marination to reduce the meatrancidity.

Abstract

This study aimed at finding out the factors that causing student’s’ anxiety in English speaking and the types of student’s’ anxiety in English speaking. This research employed descriptive-qualitative method. The population of this research consisted of 196 the first semester students of Agricultural faculty at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sinjai. This research used purposive sampling technique in choosing sample; the sample of this study was 15 students of Aquatic Resources Management study program Agricultural faculty. The researcher used observation checklist, open-ended questionnaire and interview in collecting data. The result of this study showed that there are five factors that causing students’ anxiety in speaking English, the first factor that mostly provoking students to be anxiety is afraid of making mistake when the students have perception about their low ability in English proficiency and afraid to going wrong in their performance. The second factor was lack of vocabulary. The third was lack of confidence. Most of students anxious because they were un-confident of their ability in speaking. The fourth was friends/classmates. The types of anxiety that students experienced in their speaking performance, the most type of anxiety was test anxiety. The second was communication apprehension and the lowest was fear of negative evaluation. Furthermore, the lecturer of speaking must recognize the anxious students and give treatment based on their types of anxiety.

Abstract

This study aimed at investigating Students’ Perception towards the use of Sevima Edlink Platform in English Learning at Aquatic Resources Management Study Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sinjai. This research employed a quantitative research method with description survey. The population of this research consisted of 196 the first semester students of Agricultural faculty at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sinjai. This research used purposive sampling technique in choosing sample; the sample of this study was 30 students of Aquatic Resources Management study program Agricultural faculty. The researcher used questionnaire in collecting data. The used type of questionnaire in this research was open-ended questionnaire and close-ended questionnaire and the construct of the questionnaire used TAM theory. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics on SPSS. The result of this study showed that Edlink platform was application that can be used in online learning. This Edlink platform made it easy for students to work on and collect their assignments. Moreover, this Edlink platform had interesting features and was easy to learn. It made students become happy to use it. However, more specifically in learning English, this platform increase productivity in learning but this Edlink platform did not improve effectiveness in learning. Furthermore, it could still be recommended to others to use.

Abstract

River estuaries are highly dynamic estuarine ecosystems. These ecosystems are sensitive to environmental changes, both caused by natural factors and human activities. Plankton community structure plays a crucial role as a biological indicator that reflects the ecological conditions and fertility levels of a body of water. This study aimed to analyze the diversity and abundance of plankton in five river estuaries in Sinjai Regency, including Lappa, Sinjai, Baringeng, Bua, and Pattongko Stations. This study also assessed the relationship between plankton presence and water physicochemical parameters. Sampling was conducted purposively, and plankton identification was performed microscopically. The results showed that 19 species of phytoplankton and 4 species of zooplankton were successfully identified. Diatoms dominated the phytoplankton species, such as Chaetoceros affinis, Nitzschia sigma, and Skeletonema costatum. The dominance of diatoms indicates water conditions ranging from mesotrophic to eutrophic, influenced by nutrient inputs in the form of nitrate and phosphate from land-based activities. The ANOVA test results showed no significant differences between stations (p > 0.05), indicating homogeneity of estuarine ecosystem conditions across all observation locations. Environmental parameters such as temperature (27–32°C), salinity (1–19 ppt), pH (6.1–7.8), high dissolved oxygen, and nutrient variations also play a role in plankton distribution. These findings provide important baseline information for estuarine ecosystem monitoring and sustainable coastal area management based on bioindicators in Sinjai Regency.

Abstract

Abstract Project-Based Learning (PBL) has increasingly gained attention in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction because it creates meaningful, student-centered learning experiences that support communicative competence. However, despite its recognized benefits, research focusing on the impact of PBL on the English presentation skills of non-English majors in General English classes remains limited, particularly within Indonesian private universities. To address this gap, this study aimed to examine the effect of PBL on non-English majors’ English presentation skills at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sinjai. A quasi-experimental design was employed involving a pretest–posttest control group. The experimental group was taught using PBL, while the control group received conventional instruction. An analytic rubric assessing content, organization, language accuracy, pronunciation, delivery, and use of visual aids was used to measure students’ presentation performance. The results indicated that students taught through PBL showed a significant improvement in overall presentation skills compared to those in the control group. The qualitative observations also revealed increased motivation, collaboration, and confidence among students in the PBL class. These findings suggest that PBL offers a more engaging and effective learning environment for developing presentation skills, especially for non-English majors who often have limited exposure to authentic English-speaking tasks. The study concludes that integrating PBL into General English courses can enhance students’ oral communication abilities and support more meaningful learning outcomes. Implications for teaching practice and recommendations for future research are also provided. Keywords: Project-Based Learning, Presentation Skills, English Foreign Language

Abstract

This study aimed at finding out the impact of Contextual Teaching and Learning Approach in enhancing EFL learners descriptive text writing skill and also perception of learners about the utilization of Contextual Teaching and Learning Approach in writing descriptive text. This study employed experimental research which the experimental group was given treatment using CTL Approach, on the other hand, the control group was given treatment using the conventional way. The participants were forty-eight of the first semester learners of Agricultural faculty at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sinjai, in 2024-2025 academic year. Two intact classes were randomly selected as control and experimental group and each group comprised twenty-four learners. The research instrument that was used in this study were pre-posttest and the perceptional questionnaires. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics on SPSS. The result of this study showed that the significance value (Sig.) in the table is 0.007, which is less than 0.05. Therefore, there was a significant difference between learners who was taught by using CTL approach and those were taught by using conventional teaching. Then, learners responded positively to the implementation of CTL Approach. So that, further researches with deepest investigation to examine follow-up activities after knowing student perceptions are highly recommended.
