Abstract

Latar belakang: Diabetes melitus tipe 2 merupakan penyakit degeneratif kronis, yang apabila penanganannya tidak baik akan menimbulkan komplikasi yang serius. Akhir-akhir ini angka kejadian diabetes melitus tipe 2 semakin meningkat. Salah satu komplikasi yang cukup serius yairu terjadinya PJK, dimana dislipidemia merupakan faktor resiko untuk terjadinya PJK. Diabets melitus juga akan mempengaruhi profil lipid, dimana dislipidemia pada diabetes melitus akan meningkatkan terjadinya PJK yang akan berakhir pada kematian. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara diabetes melitus dengan dislipidemia.Metode : penelitian ini merupakan penelitian cross sectional dengan menggunakan data primer yang diambil langsung dari pasien yang datang ke klinik medistra sebanyak 63 orang responden yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi. Data  yang didapat dianalisis dengan uji chi square.Hasil : dari data yang diperoleh didapatkan hasil, terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara diabetes melitus tipe 2 dengan dislipidemi. Abstract

This study aims to determine the results of measuring uric acid levels using POCT and chemistry analyzer as the gold standard simultaneously. The research method used was cross-sectional with a sample of 47 adults at Harapan and Doa Hospital, Bengkulu City. The sample selection was based on non-probability consecutive sampling. The results showed that the uric acid level as measured by POCT and Chemistry analyzer was 6.2 mg/dL. The subjects of hyperuricemia detected on the POCT device were 20 people, while on the chemistry analyzer, there were 21 people. In conclusion, the results of measuring uric acid levels using POCT obtained fewer gout sufferers than using a Chemistry Analyzer. Keywords: Gout, Chemistry Analyzer, POCT

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of chayote extract (Sechium edule) on malondialdehyde serum levels in white rats (Rattus norvegicus) fed a high-cholesterol diet and to prove the antioxidant content of chayote. The method used is experimental with a post-test-only control group design. This study used white rats, which were divided into five groups. The results of this study indicate that the administration of chayote extract at a dose of 0.25 g/kg BW and 0.5 g/kg BW can reduce the serum MDA concentration, although it is not statistically significant, while the administration of a chayote extract at a dose of 0.75 g/Kg BW can significantly reduce serum MDA levels in white rats induced by hypercholesterolemia. In conclusion, chayote extract at a dose of 0.75 g/kg BW can reduce blood MDA serum levels in white rats induced by hypercholesterolemia. Abstract

Infeksi Covid-19 telah dinyatakan oleh WHO sebagai pandemi global dan di Indonesia dinyatakan sebagai penyakit yang menyebabkan kedaruratan kesehatan masyarakat dan bencana non alam. Penyakit ini tidak hanya menyebabkan kematian tetapi juga menimbulkan kerugian ekonomi yang cukup besar, sehingga perlu penanganan yang cepat. Salah satu upaya memutus penularan dengan menggunakan masker yang ramah lingkungan dan memberikan perlindungan yang optimal. Tujuan dari kegiatan tersebut adalah untuk memberikan pengetahuan tentang penggunaan masker yang benar dan pembagian masker herbal kepada para pedagang di pasar-pasar tradisional di Kota Bengkulu. Metode kegiatannya adalah memberikan sosialisasi dan pendistribusian masker herbal non medis produksi sendiri. Kegiatan sosialisasi pemakaian masker disertai pembagian masker berjalan dengan baik, sebanyak 500 masker non medis yang dibagikan. Edukasi berkelanjutan sangat diperlukan untuk menjaga kepatuhan dalam menerapkan protokol kesehatan seperti penggunaan masker.

Abstract

Background: Aging is a biological process where one of the contributing factors is oxidative stress due to free radicals in the body. Paraquat is an example of free radicals that are often used by oil palm plantation farmers in Bengkulu, which can trigger the aging process by reducing the enzyme Superoxide Dismutase (SOD). The provision of fruit extract of Makassar (Brucea javanica (L) Mer) contains bioactive compounds that can function as antioxidants by increasing SOD levels in the body. This study aims to prove that the fruit extract can increase the levels of SOD of male Swiss Webster mice induced by paraquat.Methods: In vivo experimental research with randomized pretest-posttest control group design was conducted on 14 Swiss Webster mice (Mus musculus) as research subjects. The research subjects were then divided into 2 groups, namely the control and the treatment group (20 mg/kgBW/day (P1) for 14 days). Data were analyzed using SPSS version 17 for Windows.Results: The results showed that there was no significant increase in the mean of SOD levels either before (16.97±1.45 U/ml) or after (17.07±1.89 U/ml) treatment in the P0 group (p> 0.05). However, in the P1 group that was given paraquat induction coupled with Makassar fruit extract at a dose of 20 mg/kgBW/day for 14 days, it showed that there was a significant increase in the mean SOD levels from 17.18±1.69 U/ml to 67.56±3.65 U/ml (p <0.05).Conclusion: Provision of Makasar fruit extract at a dose of 20 mg/kgBW/day for 14 days was found to significantly increase the mean SOD levels in Swiss Webster male mice induced by paraquat. Latar Belakang: Penuaan adalah suatu proses biologi dimana salah satu faktor penyebabnya adalah stres oksidatif akibat radikal bebas yang terjadi di dalam tubuh. Paraquat merupakan salah satu contoh radikal bebas yang sering digunakan oleh petani perkebunan sawit di Bengkulu dimana dapat memicu proses penuaan melalui penurunan kadar enzim Superoksida Dismutase (SOD). Pemberian ekstrak buah makasar (Brucea javanica (L) Mer) mengandung senyawa bioaktif yang dapat berfungsi sebagai antioksidan dengan meningkatkan kadar SOD dalam tubuh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan bahwa ekstrak buah makasar dapat meningkatkan kadar SOD mencit jantan swiss Webster yang diinduksi paraquat.Metode: Penelitian eksperimental secara in vivo dengan rancangan randomized pretest-posttest control group design dilakukan terhadap 14 ekor mencit (Mus musculus) swiss Webster sebagai subjek penelitian. Subjek penelitian kemudian dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok, yaitu kelompok kontrol dan kelompok perlakuan (20 mg/kgBB/hari (P1) selama 14 hari). Data dianalisis dengan SPSS versi 17 untuk Windows.Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa tidak terdapat peningkatan bermakna rerata kadar SOD baik sebelum (16,97±1,45 U/ml) atau setelah (17,07±1,89 U/ml) perlakuan pada kelompok P0 (p>0,05). Akan tetapi, pada kelompok P1 yang diberikan induksi paraquat ditambah dengan ekstrak buah makasar dengan dosis 20 mg/kgBB/hari selama 14 hari menujukkan terdapat peningkatan secara bermakna rerata kadar SOD dari 17,18±1,69 U/ml menjadi 67,56±3,65 U/ml (p<0,05).Kesimpulan: Pemberian ekstrak buah makasar dosis 20 mg/kgBB/hari selama 14 hari diketahui dapat meningkatkan rerata kadar SOD secara bermakna pada mencit jantan swiss Webster yang diinduksi paraquat.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the description of vitamin deficiency and sun exposure to vitamin D deficiency in COVID-19 health workers in Bengkulu City. This research method is a cross-sectional or cross-sectional descriptive study using a survey or exploratory approach. The results showed that the frequency distribution of the characteristics of the research subjects was mostly 40 years old, with the most occupations being nurses. Most of the disease history was allergies, and 75% of the subjects had no history of the disease. A history of positive confirmation of COVID-19 is 16%. The number of subjects with a history of exposure to the sun with appropriate recommendations was 48%, and those with a history of exposure to more than the recommendation were 27%. There are still 24% of subjects who have low sun exposure, which is under 15 minutes. Based on the examination results of vitamin D levels, most of the research subjects who were health workers experienced 59.5% deficiency and 37.8% insufficiency. The relationship between sun exposure and blood Vitamin D3 levels p = 0.175 (fisher exact test) The results of the Kendall's tau_b correlation are r = 0.047, p = 0.722, age vs vitamin D levels are r = 0.246, p = 0.141, and bodyweight vs vitamin D levels D is r=0.312, p = 0.060. Based on the examination results of vitamin D levels, most of the research subjects who were health workers experienced 59.5% deficiency and 37.8% insufficiency. In conclusion, the relationship between sunlight, age, and body weight with vitamin D levels showed that it was not significant, but this indicated that other variables influenced the deficiency state of health workers. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between the level of knowledge and attitudes of the community towards antibiotic use in Pondok Besi Village, Bengkulu City. This study used a quantitative method with an observational analytical design through a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consisted of 104 respondents obtained using proportional cluster random sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability, then analyzed using Univariate and Univariate analysis with the Chi-Square test. The results showed that the majority of respondents had a good level of knowledge (48.1%) and a good attitude (51.0%) towards antibiotic use. The Univariate analysis showed a significant relationship between knowledge and attitudes of the community, where respondents with better knowledge tended to have more positive attitudes towards antibiotic use. These findings indicate that knowledge plays an important role in shaping public attitudes towards the rational use of antibiotics. Therefore, continuous improvement of health education is essential to strengthen understanding and shape appropriate attitudes towards antibiotic use to prevent antimicrobial resistance at the community level.

Abstract

Vitamin D plays a crucial role in maintaining bone and dental health and enhancing the body’s immune system function. Vitamin D deficiency has spurred the exploration of alternative sources of vitamin D from natural food sources that may contain vitamin D₂. The palm mushroom (Volvariella volvacea) is one such natural food source known to contain vitamin D₂. This study aims to determine the vitamin D₂ content in a 96% ethanol extract of the palm mushroom (Volvariella volvacea). The vitamin D₂ content was determined using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) with a BPFI standard vitamin D₂ reference standard. The results showed that the yield of the 96% ethanol extract of the palm mushroom was 10%. The maximum wavelength of the vitamin D₂ standard reference was obtained at 265 nm with an optimized mobile phase of Pro HPLC acetonitrile : Pro HPL methanol (90:10) and a flow rate of 1 mL/minute. The linear equation of the vitamin D2 calibration curve is y = 669.36x + 654.54 with a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.997, indicating good linearity of the analytical method. From this study, it can be concluded that palm mushrooms have potential as a source of vitamin D2.

Abstract

Peningkatan kasus resistensi antibiotik mendorong pemanfaatan bahan alam sebagai alternatif antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri kombinasi ekstrak etanol 70% kulit buah kopi robusta (Coffea canephora) dan rimpang kunyit (Curcuma longa) terhadap Staphylococcus aureus. Ekstraksi dilakukan dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 70%. Uji aktivitas antibakteri dilakukan dengan metode difusi cakram pada konsentrasi 10%, 20%, 40%, 60%, dan 80% dengan perbandingan 1:1. DMSO digunakan sebagai kontrol negatif dan antibiotik sebagai kontrol positif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh konsentrasi ekstrak menghasilkan zona hambat dengan rata-rata diameter berturut-turut sebesar 0,3167 mm (10%), 1,4667 mm (20%), 2,4500 mm (40%), 2,6833 mm (60%), dan 3,1667 mm (80%). Analisis statistik menggunakan uji Kruskal–Wallis menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antar perlakuan (p < 0,05). Aktivitas antibakteri tertinggi diperoleh pada konsentrasi 80%, namun secara keseluruhan masih tergolong lemah. Meskipun demikian, zona hambat yang terbentuk bersifat jernih yang mengindikasikan adanya efek bakterisidal. Dengan demikian, kombinasi ekstrak kulit buah kopi robusta dan rimpang kunyit memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus yang dipengaruhi oleh konsentrasi, meskipun efektivitasnya masih lebih rendah dibandingkan kontrol positif
