Abstract

Abstract

The goal of this study was to see if students in class V Theme 6 could improve their critical thinking skills outcomes by using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL). This type of research is classroom action research using 2 cycles, namely, cycle I and cycle II, where each cycle consists of 2 meetings. The stages in the implementation of the PBL model are: 1) student orientation to the problem; 2) organizing students to learn; 3) guiding individual and group investigations; 4) developing and presenting the work; and 5) analyzing and evaluating the problem-solving process. Based on the results of data analysis, there is an average increase in classical critical thinking skills in the first cycle of 67.5 and the second cycle of 76.35. So it can be concluded that the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) can improve students' critical thinking skills outcomes

Abstract

This study aims to see is there a significant effect of the use of PhET simulations in science learning of static liquid pressure topics towards creative thinking skill of middle school students. This research was conducted at SMPIT Al-Ghozali Jember in 8th grade of C class and D class where each class consisted of 21 female students. The design of this research is Control Group Pretest-Posttest in which the learning in experimental class uses the PhET simulation while in control class uses the experimental video. The results of Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test on students' creative thinking skill test scores are differed significantly both in the experimental class and the control class. The results of Mann-Whitney test are the students' student worksheets in the experimental class differed significantly from the control class. It can be concluded that there is a significant effect of the use of PhET simulations in this study.

Abstract

The research was conducted in SDN Gebang 04 Jember in order to investigate a significant influence of the use of mind mapping learning strategy to the learning outcomes of the fifth grade students in learning science with earth structures as the topic. This research was an experimental research. The research design was pre-experimental utilizing intact-group comparison. The subjects of the research were as many as 44 students consisting of 22 students of class VA and 22 students of class VB. The data was collected from post-test. The research results showed that the post-test average score of the experimental class was higher than that of the control class. The average score of the experimental class was 83.54 while the average score of the control class was 74.23. Due to the difference between the two scores, independent test was administered. From the test it was obtained that tcomputation = 4.195 with significance value of p = 0.000. Because the coefficient was less than 0.05, null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. The results indicated that there was a significant influence of mind mapping learning strategy towards students’ learning outcomes.

Abstract

Current technological developments have influenced the field of education in both individuals and groups. Technological advances alone can support science thought processes in students. Likewise the teacher, it is recommended to be more innovative in the application of technology in learning science. The purpose of this study is the influence of the use of google form assisted video media on improving junior high school student learning outcomes. This type of research is experimental research with Post-test Only Design design. The selection of samples from 9 classes is done by drawing homogeneity tests. Data analysis techniques used in this study are statistical analysis techniques in the form of normality tests and hypothesis testing (t-test). Based on the results of the t-test analysis conducted where Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) learning outcomes are 0.027 and Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) retention of learning outcomes is 0.012 so it produces a value of less than 0.05 where it answers the hypothesis if there is a significant effect on learning outcomes and retention of student learning outcomes in Solar System learning using video forms assisted by Google forms. This study concludes that the Google form-assisted video media has a significant influence on student learning outcomes and retention of student learning outcomes, while also increasing student activity in learning science.

Abstract

Problem based learning supports students to have an ability to solve problems in real life, so that students’ critical thinking skill is structurally able to appear and is examined well. By problem based learning, students are able construct their own knowledges. This research is held in elementary school using true experimental with test post-test control group design. It uses quantitative descriptive approach. The data of critical thinking skill indicates that problem based learning does not affect significantly toward students’ critical thinking. The data of learning outcomes is analyzed by using t-test in 5 % signification level. The calculation result using t-test gains tcount = 2, 533. This value is consulted to ttable with db = 54 in 5 % signification level, so that it gains ttable = 2,005. It gains tcount>ttable (2,533 > 2,005). Based on its result, it can be concluded that problem based learning affects students’ learning result, unlike students’ critical thinking skill.

Abstract

One of the problems that occurred after the pandemic was the poor communication skills of students and low learning outcomes. This was caused by the approach taken by the teacher was not quite right. Therefore, it is necessary to have a learning approach that is able to improve communicative abilities and student learning outcomes. One learning approach that can be done is STEM. STEM is learning that combines science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Thus the STEM approach is used specifically as an approach using PBL and PjBL learning models as an effort to improve communicative abilities and student learning outcomes. Based on the results of the research, it is known that in class V SDN Jambekumbu 01, Pasrujambe sub-district, Lumajang, for the 2020/2021 academic year, there has been an increase in communicative abilities and student learning outcomes. Improving communicative abilities, initially achieving a classical score of 53.65 in pre-cycle, then rising to 62.5 in cycle I and 71.15 in cycle II. Learning outcomes increased from a classical score of 56.42 in pre-cycle to 70.11 in cycle I and 78.07 in cycle II.
