Abstract

The lack of parental knowledge about discipline influences the role of parents in educating their children. Thus, it forms those who lack of discipline. It became the background of Community Service carried out in the form of parental counseling and tutoring for children in Wijaya Kusuma Village, West Jakarta. This counseling aimed to make parents reflect more on their role as the main educator in the lives of their children. The learning guidance that was carried out was motivated by the attitude of children who were passive and still afraid to express themselves both in written and orally. In the implementation of this study guide, children were directed to get to know more about who they are, their families, their dreams, and their hopes. Children were trained to be able to express and describe images of themselves, their families, hopes, and ideals in oral and written forms. The methods used in tutoring varied such as games, interactive teachings, group works, and independent assignments. The results of the observations during learning were that children looked better in terms of character, which was more disciplined and showed a cooperative attitude with their friends. From the results of evaluating the implementation of counseling, parents felt that this counseling was important and useful for them in educating their children at home.

Abstract

Online learning uses information and communication technology as a medium. Online learning is being implemented to fulfill students' educational rights during the covid-19 pandemic. Some problems occurred throughout its implementation, such as the lack of students' involvement in the classroom. They become less focused on learning, so they do not pay attention to the instructions well. The task processing becomes disrupted to the extent students passed the submission time and even did not submit. Also, students do not communicate problems or obstacles they face to the teacher. Based on several studies, students are less involved in class due to many assignments and difficulties in understanding the teacher's material. Therefore, this paper aims to describe the impact of the implementation of technology-based learning media on students' active involvement in class. Learning media must be adapted to students' psychological condition, which is disturbed during online learning. The used media can combine both kinds of interaction, such as synchronously and asynchronously. Besides, the media must be practical or easy to use for students. Proper implementation of technology-based learning media is expected to assist students in actively involved in the class. Therefore, it is recommended that all parties involved, especially teachers, use media suitable for students' conditions during online learning. Exploration must also be carried out to obtain more useful learning media sources.

Abstract

Active learning should involve students and teachers as a whole. However, the facts found were that students were passive and more silent. In this case, when asked, most of the students did not answer the teacher's question. This situation is repeated and only a few students are the same, who are always actively answering the teacher's questions. Therefore, the appropriate media can help students be more enthusiastic about participating in learning, one of which is a job stick. Thus, the purpose of writing is to describe the use of job sticks in asking questions, to seek activeness in answering questions for second-grade elementary school students, using descriptive qualitative methods. The results of this study are that after the job stick media was applied, most of the second-grade students were active in answering questions, enthusiastic, and enthusiastic, paying attention to every teacher's explanation, and all students had the same opportunity. In the application of the job stick, the teacher is enabled by God, to pursue the potential that God has given to students. It can be concluded that the use of job sticks in asking questions is able to seek activeness in answering questions in grade II elementary school students.

Abstract

Students’ learning activeness is crucial in the ongoing learning process. In fact, there are still students who do not have active in learning. Based on the observation, it was found that there were still students who did not have active in learning. Students never expressed opinions and questions, students were not enthusiastic, students played or talked with friends during the learning process, students hesitated to express opinions, students often got permission to leave class, and students did not contribute to group discussions. The solution to these problems is to apply the game method in learning. The aim is to explain that the application of the game method can increase the students’ activeness in learning during the learning process in the classroom. The method used is a descriptive qualitative method. The result is that the application of the game method can increase students’ learning activeness. It is marked by a change in the response showed by students in which students become enthusiastic while participating in learning, students actively ask and answer questions, and students are actively involved in discussions and some of them are in accordance with indicators of student’s learning activeness. Nevertheless, to obtain significant results, a teacher can apply this method repeatedly. As a Christian teacher, of course, the teacher must be able to use their abilities and intellect to see the problems that students are experiencing in class, then the teacher seeks the right solution based on Bible truth. The suggestion that can be given to teachers is to evaluate the problems of students’ learning activeness in order to be able to determine other methods that are more effective for the improvement of students’learning activeness.

Abstract

The discipline in learning is crucial to achieving the effectiveness of teaching-learning. In fact, it is still found that there are undisciplined students encountered during the learning process. Based on the observation results of elementary school students at one of the Christian schools, students who did not follow the rules and procedures were found, such as not using a raised hand so which causes the class to be conducive or unstable. The solution to this problem is the consistency of rule and procedure implementation. It is aimed to see the consistency of the rule and procedure implementation as an attempt to develop the first-grade students’ discipline. The method used is a descriptive qualitative method. The result indicates the consistency of the rule and procedure implementation can develop students’ discipline. It is characterized by an attitude change indicated by students. Still, teachers’ consistency is needed continually in order to make significant behavior. As Christian educators, teachers certainly must believe in the truth of God as a source as the bible, see the existence of God through Jesus Christ as an exemplar, and reflect good character, but must realize that only the holy spirit can empower every student. The recommendation that can be given to teachers is that teachers must be consistent in applying each class rule and procedure so it can produce a significant change in attitude.

Abstract

The implementation of microteaching on the PSAP (Learning Assessment Strategy Planning) Elementary School Mathematics course is aimed to teach the students pedagogical competence as prospective elementary school teachers. The study in this article is aimed to analyze the results of the microteaching implementation, especially at the opening stage, which was carried out by prospective teacher students at the Elementary School Teacher Education study program of Pelita Harapan University. It is required that the results of the study can be used as an evaluation for material, especially for lecturers to improve teaching strategies in this course. The research method used was a descriptive quantitative method with research instruments of a microteaching assessment rubric, the results of lecturer observations, and the results of students’ microteaching reflections. Quantitative data were obtained from the average value of the microteaching assessment rubric, which was then converted into a qualitative form by comparing it with the results of microteaching reflections. In the opening stage of microteaching, there are four criteria a) attracting students' attention before starting learning, b) conveying learning objectives, c) reviewing lessons, and d) motivating students. The results obtained by the researchers on microteaching of PGSD students batch 2019 were already good with the percentage for the opening stage of the criteria "attracting students' attention before starting learning 92.86% in the very good category, the criteria of “delivering learning objectives” 69.29% in enough category, the criteria for “reviewing lessons” 68.57% in enough category, and the criteria for "motivating students" 87.14% in the very good category. Based on the percentage of the four criteria at the opening stage of microteaching, it could be seen that the criteria that needed to be improved were the competency to convey learning objectives and the competency to review the lessons.
